I have one that lives in my closet
I placed a dreamcatcher & a candle in there for him..he is nice..he can be obnoxious at times..but generally hes pretty cool He likes to come out & play when I am playing music in my room at times! but we have a good relationship as long as a ghost knows your not scared by them, it usually works out pretty good |

Haven't seen a ghost but did have an experience.
Several years ago my wife went to be with her ill father in the hospital. She had to drive about 8 hours and left late in the evening, so she stopped at my parent's house 5 hours down the road. Her father and I had been very close. In fact, he was like a second father to me. I woke up about 12:30 that morning from a very sound sleep, somewhat startled. I had the keen perception that someone was in the room with me. The feeling went away after about five minutes. Now, we've all probably done that sort of thing; however, this time it was extremely intense for me. I got a call about five minutes later that my father-in-law had passed away - five minutes earlier. I can only explain this one way - I had a visit.

My only true experience occurs regularly at work. I work at a local hospital in the Accident & Emergency Department. Our filing room is in the ominously named "basement". The first time I went down there to search out some notes I had no clue of its history. I must of spent a good 15 minutes looking for a box of notes with a work colleague who was showing me where everything is. After this time we began to get to a stage of just giving up. The closest box we could find was the "next" one in sequence but the box had no neighbours and just empty shelf space. Slightly annoyed I couldn't find it I said "oh that box should be right _here_" making a direct pointing action touching the bare shelf. We walked round the corner still searching but shortly after decided to quit and return back to reception. Before we left we went for one last look in the "sequence". The box had suddenly appeared in the correct place with the set of notes we were looking forward slightly poking out. We both looked at each other slightly awkwardly and made for a quick exit. Later that day I find out that room used to be the old hospital mortuary! A ghost does live down their and goes by the name of "Henry"! Many people have heard him make noises and move things around and one even claims to talk to him! Well it wasn't the last time I would experience him. If I can't find some notes I just say out loud what my problem is and several minutes later I stumble upon them. I'm sure he's playing some sort of game with us but he hands them over in the end so I can't complain! |

ok, so i get to freak myself out by sharing some more freaky stories. just thinking about them (late at nite) creeps me out.
when my grandpa was really sick, i had a dream about him kissing me on the forehead and saying goodbye. next day in class i get the call that he died in his sleep that night. also at our current house (not the cursed one, we moved) if you are awake in the middle of the night, you can see blue lights glowing at the window in pulses. its not just me, my sister was awake and saw it to. and two of my other sisters saw it at a different window in the other part of the house at separate times. when i first saw it, i was freaked but ran outside to see, and nothing! still dunno what it is. in our cursed house tho, things would move around. my dolls (barbies) would all be in their big box i kept them in, in my locked closet. when i got home from school (i got home first) they would all be arranged on my shelf in poses that i swear its imposible to get barbies into, i.e. dancing, etc. freaky. and my sister claims her things flew across the room trying to hit her at night. i dunno how accurate that is. also i would see gnomes with red eyes outta the corner of my eye when i was little, and would occasionally hear distinct bootsteps on our linoleum kitchen floor. (my room was right next to the kitchen). yeah so those are just a few of my freaky experiences.

well i hear my name called all the time, its almost always my little brother calling out my name, and he is never home when i hear it.
i usually just ignore it and think nothing of it but this one time i was with my mom and we both heard it, it sounded like my little brother was in pain or was really scarred or something, my mom and i just look at eachother and she says "did you just hear devin say mom?" and im like yea i did, he was out at some thing in downtown so i was really freaked out that something bad happened to him but he came home just fine. and last night i was on the computer late at night reading that john titor thingy and i hear someone walk downstairs, not a big deal as someone might have just wanted a drink from the kitchen, but no one ever came downstairs, so that was kinda freaky |

They have an old house that was a plantation here in town that has a slave graveyard near it. People have tried to live in the house but they never would stay in it because they heard noises and saw things that wasn't their. My mom and dad was thinking about buying the house so they was looking around the house and when they was in the basement they heard someone walking around above them but they was the only people in the house. So pretty much they didn't buy the house. In 84 I was with my grandma and grandpa and we went to that house, we stood at the road looking up at the graveyard and I saw someone or something standing at the graves. A year or two after that my grandma was going to work and she had to stop for some reason so she pulled over in front of the house and when she looked up at the house she saw a man looking back at her. After my grandma died (back in 99) my cousin, his wife, my sister and I went back to that house and when we looked in we saw that the floor was gone and it looked like it has been gone for a long time.

I only have one experiance that is really relevant to this discussion. I was 16 or 17 at the time and was sleeping over at a friend's house. It was a small ranch style house, maybe 100 years old. I had slept over there before, in his room on the floor, but this time I slept alone in his sisters room. I fell asleep just fine and didn't have any nightmares or anything. Then at about 2 am I woke suddenly. I'm talking wide awake, not groggy or anything. I just feel this horrible, malevolent presence. Mind you, I've never felt any presence before or since, so it was very, very frightening. I was scared shitless to put it blunt, and I am very hard to scare. It was, bar none, the scariest experiance I've ever had. I just felt helpless, I don't know why. It was also accompanied by a slightly decayed smell. I lay there for a good half hour before it finally went away. I went back to sleep after a while, and in the morning I told my friend about it. He said that he had experianced strange things in the basement before, and that his father had brought back relics from his time in Vietnam (boots and helmets from dead guys, etc.). I had no prior knowledge about this fact, and we didn't watch any ghost movies, talk about supernatural stuff, or anything related the night before, so it wasn't like my mind was primed by this sort of thing. I also wasn't interested in experiancing something paranormal at all, and wasn't intoxicated/high. I was wide awake, and it continued for too long for me to pass it off as some split second thing. That's my story.
Also, in the house I currently live in, there have been some weird things that happened. My friend had come to pick me up, it was the middle of the day, and I was getting dressed inside or something. When I got to the car, he said that a few minutes before, he saw me come walking to the car out of the corner of his eye, but when I should have gotten to the door and opened it and didn't, he looked and no one was there. No one was on the street or anything. I know it's easy to discount, and it wasn't a big thing to either of us, and we laughed and said it had something to do with the fact that my address is 3666. Another time, another friend and I were in his car talking about stuff in my driveway real late at night, about 3 am, when we see figures moving around outside the car, going real fast. Shadows flashing by, stuff like that. It was kinda creepy. Well that's my experiances.

I was living in Boulder, CO and one night I was up rather late watching the tube (no mood or mind altering stuff tho) and I turned to look at what I thought was my dog and to my amazement their was a sad looking woman, 30's ish sitting in a chair across the room. I was obviously startled and when I approached her facial expression changed and she was gone. I told my girlfriend about this, I actually woke her up and she said she had felt a wierd vibe in the house as well.
Long story short, about a week later I ran into the property manager and said "this may sound like a wierd question but has anybody ever told you/asked you about a ghost in our condo?" She then proceeded to tell me that there was a single mom and her child that lived there 3 tenants prior to us who had died of an anneurism, and that the child was alone (mom was dead) for 2 days. She never bothered us but you could feel her presence.

I think this is a really cool forum for people to unload in. Having a place where people are open to different ideas and experiences and are willing to share and others can comment without condescension is really valuable. I appreciate the friendly atmosphere.
I think that folks like Wolph shouldn't be so afraid to share because of the skeptics, I think there are for more 'believers' and open minded people than there are the skeptics. Even if there is a perfectly logical, scientific, natural reason for some of the things that happen to these people, there is nonetheless the fact that their perceptions have shaped their realities. Nothing that anyone says about 'you imagined it' or 'you were on drugs' (Which in most every case has been firmly established that no, they weren't) changes that these people see what happened to them as very real, very scary, or otherworldly/ supernatural. If you weren't there when it happened to them, I don't think anyone has a right to tell them that they are crazy. Personally, I've never had anything like what people have said happen to me, and I won't say that it can never happen to anyone. I think it would be better if everyone could at least approach the subject the way calimehtar put it, as a 'paranormal agnostic'. If you haven't experienced something firsthand, be open to the idea that it could happen to other people and may eventually happen to you...

The only reason I personally don't believe in supernatural forces is because of the fact that it all these things almost always happen in the middle of the night when someone has just woken up, or when people are all alone in strange surroundings. Still, it is quite interesting reading these stories, makes me a little nervous

Also, one of the dorms at my school used to be an infirmery. People see things around there sometimes. Some sons and daughters of the faculty had seen a boy that "looked sharp" standing in the woods around the building. Living in a scientific era, we really pass off the supernatural as a big hoax. But I think that we shouldn't be so skeptical of the spiritual world.

Did my girl see something?
Ok, I didn't see anything myself, but something happened the past few days kinda freaks me out.
I have an adorable daughter who is just 2 and started to talk in short phases. Two nights ago she suddenly wakes up around 2am and starred at the ceiling over our bed and woke me up quietly: daddy, I'm scared. And she moved next to me and held me tightly. This is strange 'cause it never happened before. She is always very playful and was never scared like that. So I had to turn on the lights to calm her down. She finally fell asleep two hour later. The next day, My wife & I asked our little girl about what happed last night, she told us: Hiding, over there. I am scare. So we continued asking, who is hiding, he or she? Where? But she kept repeating the same words. So this has continued for the past few days. Our little girl is now very afraid to be on her own, even when she plays she had to have me right next to her. She led me to a mirror in one of commode and told me he/she is hiding there.(oviously nothing there. We hava a big house and this is one of the room that we rarely use…and it is especially cold I don't know what she sees but I am trying my best to calm her down and hope she'll get over it soon. Some of you had suggested pets could see thing that human can't, but do you think children can see things adult can't too? |

I think that children are more perceptive to spiritual things because society hasn't had a chance to change the way they think and feel yet. It's a very real possibility that she could have seen/sensed something and doesn't yet have the vocabulary to let you know what it is/was.

Ok it's final . . . I'M SLEEPING WITH THE LIGHTS ON!!!
I do have one little story nothing much but still enough to perk intrest. My grandparents lived about 45 minutes from me when I was little and I would spend many weekends with them. Their house was not that old but it was located in an old historic town (Savannah, GA). I never really payed attention to much b/c everything happened when I was by myself. The thing that really comes to mind is the radio being turned off and on, not constantly but maybe 30 minutes after I would leave the room it would turn on. When I asked my grandparents about they would just laugh and say "ohh thats just the ghost", like I was some crazy little kid. The one thing that will always stick with me is this: The house had a add on in the back, sorta like a living room where the back porch would be. We had a large and heavy split door (open on top and not on bottom type thing) between the old and new part of the house. One day we were having dinner in the new part with the door open, when it suddenly just slammed shut. If the door opened I might be able to justify it, but shut? My grandparents just kinda looked at each other but nothing was ever said. Kinda freaky, but true story. Last edited by tke364; 07-22-2004 at 02:55 PM.. |
