Seen a Ghost?

I have never been a big believer in Ghosts or the unexplained mainly because I have never had an experience. I have been told many stories that I just dont believe. Has anyone ever had a real life experience with this? Did it scare the crap out of you?

It wasn't a ghost, exactly...but when crackprogram and I lived in Georgia, there was this weird green glowy spot on our shower wall. It just...appeared after we'd lived there for almost a year. It happened a week or two before Halloween, so I figured he'd gotten some glow-in-the-dark paint or something to scare me...but he swears he had nothing to do with it. Yes, it scared the crap out of me...to the point that I refused to shower if he wasn't home.

A few other weird things-- we had this big framed picture above the fireplace, and one night it pretty much jumped off the wall. The nail was still in the wall, perfectly straight...the neighbor hadn't been hammering on the wall or anything...no earthquake...nothing that would logically make that happen. He came home from work one day and the couch cushions were thrown around...I'd been sleeping all day, and the cats aren't heavy enough to knock them off. Weird...

Felt it, didn't see it.

And SD, if it makes you feel like you're in good company and comfortable enough to tell the story, I was chased out of that graveyard by what I've come to believe was a demon of some sort, and I don't think I'm crazy.

I've definitely FELT presences around me, but I don't know that I've ever SEEN one. There are always the flitting glances of someone out of the corner of your eye, but I really don't know how much faith I put in that.

There have been times in the past where I have refused to be alone in my house... where I've called someone to come be with me or I've left altogether. If I wasn't going to bed soon, I'd share a story, but.... I wanna be able to sleep tonight.

I've never seen a ghost, nor do I believe in the paranormal. It's hard to believe in something you've never seen. I have very strong beliefs in this subject. Basically, when it all boils down to it, I believe that every single person who thinks they have had a paranormal experience is either:

A) Imagining things.
B) They let their minds run away from them for a split second.
C) Were intoxicated or had sleep-deprivation.
D) Saw something in the corner of their eye and are exaggerating it into huge proportions.
E) Wanted to see a ghost or the paranormal so badly that when they saw something that could be scientifically explained, they discarded it as a ghost instead.

I get a lot of arguments over this, but it's just the way I feel. I've seen many "shadowy figures" in my day, and they were all able to explained after a couple of minutes of thought. All the paranormal activities I've experienced can be explained in some way, shape, or form.

Disclaimer: No, I'm not ignorant. I just find ghosts and the such hard to believe in. Logic would tell you that if there isn't proof, it doesn't exist

Then the whole religion thing kicks in....but I think ghosts and religion are two entirely seperate entities

I believe in spirits. There's so much to argue for both sides of the argument, that no one will ever really be convinced of what everyone else thinks.

There have been times when I KNEW that my grandfather was standing right there next to me. Without a question.

i think I saw one once way back whe ni was 8 or 9 I think. I was in bed, moved the covers off my face and saw a woman in a red dress standing over my bed. I covered my head up, peeked, she was still there and i didnt look for a long time but she was gone. The only reason I dont think this was a ghost is around the same time, like a day later or that same night, i dont remember, i saw my dad in almost the exact position/timing as the lady so i think I was sick with a fever and seeing things or something. But it was real weird and I remember being scared for a long time because I saw her so clearly. Never happened again though.

Ok.. I will share my story, and be as concise as possible!

Back in 1991, a buddy and I used to clean some office space for a steel warehouse. There was a 3 Story office building attached to a 3 story tall warehouse (Only one floor, just 3 stories tall). We did this on weekends for some extra cash.

One Saturday afternoon we arrive to start cleaning and enter the office. Only the bottom floor of the officespace is being used, the top 2 floors are empty. We open the door and walk in and EVERY Electronic device is on. Computers, coffee machines, calculators, EVERYTHING. I called the General Manager of the company to make sure he didn't have anyone working that Saturday. (didn't want to scare the worker, didn't want him scaring us!).
He said no, nobody working today.. Why?
I informed him EVERY electronic device was on and we assumed someone must be there. He said no, we must have just left in a hurry on Friday. Ok, I took that at face value.
So we start cleaning. I took the office space, my buddy went to the other side of the offices to clean the workers locker room and bathroom. I am mopping away and feel a presence behind me. I figure it is my buddy so I said " quit f-ing around and get to work". No response. I turned around to give him shit and he wasn't there. Nobody was there. No big deal, my mind was playing tricks on me. About 5 mins later same deal. I turned around and said "Listen dickhead, get to work. This will take forever if I have to do it myself". No answer.
No I am pissed, I figure buddy boy is messing around trying to scare me or something. So I walk over to the area he is supposed to be cleaning so I can bust him not working. Just as I am about to round the corner to his area, I hear him say "Listen asshole, if you want to keep playing around this will NEVER get done!".
I came around the corner, explained to him we both were experiencing the same phenomenom. Got to admit, we were both about 18-19 at the time, and it freaked us out. So we walked out to the plant floor and grabbed some lengths of pipe (protection I guess!).
We started to look around because at this point we figure someone has broken in and is messing with us. Then it happens.
We hear a knock on a window from the third floor. (There was a window in the "executive floor" (3rd) that overlooked the warehouse. Not one on the 2nd, and just doors to the plant on hte first floor. We both look up and see a shadow flash past the window. Problem solved. There is only 2 ways up to the third floor, and we are sooo full of adrenaline we are ready to kick this prowlers ass. I run up one stairway, my buddy runs up the other (pipes in hand! Boy were we tough!)
We get to the top at the same time, whip open the doors (which were locked, but we both had master keys) and NOTHING. Because the floor was empty (no desks, nothing) we could see everything. Empty. We look at the window, nothing. NO curtains, no coat rack, no light even.. Nothing.
So we walk to the window and look down. Nothing.
Now we are FREAKED out. The supernatural enters our thought process (for the first time now!) and we are truely scared.
We ran downstairs, worked TOGETHER to clean the areas and got the hell out of there. Oh yeah, we quit that day too.
Anyways, 2 months later we are at the General Managers house for a bbq. We all killed a few beers, (this was Canada, so we were legal!) and got to talking about that day. He started laughing when we mentioned it. I asked what was so funny?

"You guys finally met the ghost." Turns out when the place was being built one of the ironworkers fell off the partially constructed roof and was killed. Ever since that day there have been sightings, random events, all the classic signs of a ghost. Huge rolls of steel (20 tons) being moved 20-30 feet away from where they were left, lights turning on, etc.

Let me just say I was glad as hell we quit, but pissed off he didn't tell us about the ghost before we took the job.

ok, i'll tell my story, but i still want sadistikdreams to tell his....

well my mother became friends with this guy we'll call tom. my mom and dad had been experiencing some rough times relationship wise, and my mother was spending more time than she should have been with this "friend". well shortly after that, my mom and dad separated and mom took all five of us girls to new mexico with her, where we lived down the street from her brother and his family. so tom went with us. he wasn't living with us, but living nearby and saw us all the time. he was a creepy guy who practically lived out of his van....had a son who was a bit older than me but who definitely wasn't as creepy as his dad.

anywho, so this guy was also an artist, and he usually bartered with people for things he wanted, using his art for payment. i remember he took us all out to eat at pizza hut one time (my mother insisted she didn't have enough money to eat out that night being a single mom with 5 kids), and he insisted that he pay. so when we were done eating and it came time to pay, he brought in some of his art and tried to convince the manager to accept it as pay. well the guy didn't want to accept it, but tom made him feel sorry for us, said we were starving kids, etc, so the guy finally agreed. that must've been so humiliating for my mom and sisters, but i hardly noticed because i was only 5. so as time wore on tom got tired of dealing with 5 children, and he once tried to kill me when we were on an outing at the top of a very high cliff...he held me over the edge and it happened to be a time that my dad was visiting and he saved me....
this guy many times told us he was into devil worshiping and making himself disappear and creepy things like that....but young kids dont know exactly what to believe...needless to say we were spooked.
when my mother and father got back together, tom started doing weird stuff like following us all the way back to texas, following my mother around when she went to work, etc.....
out of "friendship" he built a knee high rock wall around our house and a rock porch, along with a huge wooden sign with a cool carving on it that hung over our threshold. on one incident where he was stalking my mom, my dad called the police on him and i guess he skipped town.....we found out he was already a wanted man in many states and that if we saw him again, we were to report it immediately.
well then not too long after that a friend of my dad's who was a devout jew came to our house, and upon seeing the wooden carving over our door refused to enter our house till our dad took it down and broke/burned it. he said it was one of the worst kind of jewish curses and the rock wall and porch were cursed too.
not to say i believe in all that, but honestly it would take another long post to tell you guys all the freaky things that happened in that house ever since my dad took that sign down and broke down the rock wall.
i know this may all sound like crap, but thats my personal experience....
and you can believe it or not believe it...

My experiences arent much but here goes

The first happened when i was like 5 or 6. My folks split up and myy mom took me and my sister to live in another city. We settled into a pretty cool apartment complexand this time around we each (me and my sister) had our own rooms. I guess you can call me a weird kid because alot of times id do different things to my bed so itd feel different(like drape sheets over it to feel like im camping, or pull the top bed cushion off and sleep on the floor..ect).

SO this one summer night Im sleeing on the top cushion on the floof and I wake up and I et this odd feeling someone is in the room with me. My mom somtimes went around to check on us so I look up and Im about to say something to her when I see what looks like a man in a trench coat and a dark hat standing next to me. Now this was abd enough but when i look up higher it look slike hes holing a big kitchen knife in his hand.

I know some of you might think I was probably imagining it and it could jsut be because I just woke up but the one thing that cemented in my mind that it was real was that the light from a street lamp shone into my room every night and thins night I could see the light shining off of the blade of his knife.

So of course im scared shitless and I did the one thing kids always do when scared. I burrowed under my comforter(mind you its the middle of summer in the south) and stayed under it prayying the man would go away. Well I fell asleep and when I woke up the next morning the room was full of light and the man was gone. I went to everyyones roms to see if they were there and they were there and ok.

I guess you can sayy it was my imagination but another thing that happened to me often would be my mom and sister calling my name. This would happen alot when they were there id swear they were callin me but they would always say they didnt or handt. I know plenty of you might think its no big deal and when I was a kdi I didnt either until I remembered all the times id hear one of them alling me and look around and see I was alone. It never registered to me then because as a kid im sure its happened to everyone. but to look back and remember all the times i was alone in the apartment and having thir exact voices call out to me it creeps me out.

And ive had one of those hag dreams too but more magnified than most ive heard of because I heard a womans voice from my dreams laughing in my ear so yeah thats about it aside from a few smaller incidents like dreams comin true and stuff. oh yeah i have really vivid dreams. to the point where i can eat food in them and wake up with the taste in my mouth or get shot and wake up with pain where i was shot.

wow, ok, i got a bunch of crazy stuff, i'll try to keep it short

When i was about 7, i had a bunk bed, but it didnt have a bottom bunk. So one night i wake up and look over the railing of the bed onto the floor. there is an old woman in a blue dress looking up at me. She just had this big smile on her face. She calmly turned around and walked directly into and through the wall of my bedroom. I told my parents but i never really thought anything of it.

A few years later, I am helping my parents bring groceries into the house. I think that i see my mother walk across our porch and start to open the door, so i run to unlock it for her. No one is there, but i saw out of the corner of my eye, a woman take two strides arcross our porch

Another few years pass. And a friend of the family, (who claims to be a native american psychic), comes and visits us. She claims that there are two spirits in our house, one good, named sara, that i saw, and another who is very angry/confused, and that she could not identify. She was also able to tell me that i had seen her, even when i had not told this friend the story from when i was a kid. Also, she said the ghost sara lived on our property during the civil war. Her husband left for war and never returned, thus trapping her on the land where we now live

Again, a few years later, my brother in law is alone in our house. he has his head stuck in a cabinet looking for some dinner, and hears a woman scream as loud as she can from our basement. He just about shits himself, grabs a gun, and proceeds to turn every light on in the house. I think this is the other angry spirit

I have had a number or experiences where similar things have happened...
When I was about 15 I was at a friends house and we were both asleep. I woke up because I felt someone staring at me. When I opened my eyes I saw what appeared to be a very tall man wearing a large black coat with a hood (the room was dark but I could see the outline of his body). I closed my eyes because I thought I was seeing things and when I did I felt a weight on top of me as if someone were leaning over me.

About five years ago I was getting out of the shower and going to my bedroom when I saw a man in my hallway. He looked at me and ran into my roommates room. I asked my roommate about it and he said that he hadn't had any company. A few days later I saw the same man standing in our kitchen and I realized that you could see thru him. I found out from one of the neighbors that there was a man that had lived in the house about 10 years ago that died from a drug overdose. I saw the "guy" a number of times after that but he never bothered me.

And lastly, about 2 years ago my ex and I were asleep in bed and I felt this weight on my feet (like a dog was laying at the foot of the bed) so I started kicking my feet to try to get it off. When I sat up there was a woman sitting there (a transparent woman) staring at my ex. The next day I told my ex what had happened and described the woman and he told me that it sounded like his mother (she had died a year or so before). He dug out a picture of her and sure enough it was the woman I had seen. I also saw her at his place hanging out in the hallway and at the bottom of his staircase.

The only experience I ever had was when I was 10 years old. I had a really high fever and woke up in the middle of the night and Mr. Clean was standing at my door looking at me. Even after I opened and closed my eyes he was still there. I elected to go back to bed and that was it. I believe that Mr. Clean in my bedroom was just a Hallucination & never had any experiences after that.

Here is my story...

I was teleworking from home last fall while I had some tile work done. While sitting at my desk I see a little blonde boy, maybe 3 run by my window towards the door. No knock, no kid reappearing. I went and looked out my front door and no kid anywhere. The street was dead and I live in a primarily hispanic neighborhood. Since I was pregnant at the time, I have always thought it might be a premonition of the little boy I was carrying. Now he's born though, and has brown hair, so maybe another boy to come? He sure was cute, whoever he was...

The only other thing for me is phantom animals - I see them out of the corner of my eye every now and then, and I feel phantom cats jumping up on my bed at night, but no cats are there... weird.

My mom saw things though - when she was really sick and almost dying, she says she woke up and her bed was surrounded by angels, preventing her from going - her mom was there and her grandma. She also saw her grandmother in the hallway of our house in california a few hours before she got the call that she had died, so knew about it before hand. She also dreamed about the doors to every house she lived in before she lived there. I always hoped I'd inherit some of her psychic powers, but haven't really seen anything yet...

My husband lived in a haunted house growing up- I'll ask him to post the stories...

Ok Kellys is my wife and she wants me to tell my story. Normaly I don't like to talk about it because of the sceptics, but here goes...
When i was a kid I think i must have been around 14 my family consisting of my dad, mom, brother, sister and I lived in a house in eastern washington. The house was very old It actualy had an indian watch tower on it. I never realy understood why but it was there, any way I digress.
All of us had wierd things happen to us when we where alone. I won't speak for my family even though they had some good stories. The things that happened to me where.
1)Noises- Easy to discount, but when you hear someone walk across the floor upstairs it has a very definite sound. clump clump clump. Also talking, I would be alone and hear talking in another room and assume someone came home and nobody would be there.
2)Things moving around-Also easy to discount in a house with 5 people living in it. But it would happen quickly, I would put something down turn around, then turn back around and it would have moved or disapeared compleatly to be found later someplace else.
3)Seeing things-I myself saw alot, lights going on and off things like that but the best thing was while playing in the front yard I saw a man standing in the tower looking down at me.
4)I saved the best for last, a couple times the whole family was together and things happened. With things like this it is much scarier when things happen and your not alone. When your alone you think i must have been seeing/hearing things. When your with your whole family and it happens and everybody sees/hears it its a whole new ballpark. Any way the story. My parents had a tv in the master bedroom and we where all sitting on the bed watching tv when woosh every water tap and toilet opened/flushed in the entire house. It was realy wierd we had to go and turn all the taps off because they where full open. It was two bathrooms, a mud room and a kitchen worth of sinks, bathtups and toilets. The other thing that happened while we where all together was all the lights in the house came on once while we where all together. Every single light closets, rooms, halls all of them.
The best thing about it was allthough it was scary I was never scared of the ghost it just never seemed to be hostile. I know some people will read this and not believe but don't care for me this was as real as anything else in my past. I will allways believe in ghosts from this house.

That happens to me alot as well, sometimes I'll hear the voice of a family member calling my name and sometimes it's just one of those indistinct voices that sounds really familiar, but you can't quite place it with a name or a face. There was one time that I thought I heard my younger brother say my name, and it sounded like he was right in the doorway a few feet away-- and when I looked up to ask him what he wanted the door was shut and nobody was there. Opened the door-- nobody out there either, everyone else was upstairs.

I talked to a friend who's wiccan about it once, and she referred to it as being "fairy-led". Either way, it's some spooky shit when it happens.

I teach a martial arts class in our town's Old Armory. One night during class I looked over and saw a transparent figure move down the hallway. He looked at me just as he faded away. I just stared until one of my students said it looked like I saw a ghost. I replied, "I think I just did."
His features were so clear, he had dark hair, pale skin, a mustache, glasses and was wearing a blue jumpsuit like a janitor might wear.
What makes the story even weirder is when I told my fiance what I saw. You see, she teaches with me also and saw him once before. One night when she went to change in the bathroom, she flipped on the light and saw the same man hanging from the ceiling (suicide). He disappeared almost immediately.
She was afraid to tell me what she saw, but when we compared descriptions, we realized we saw the same person.

My animals scare me. They say animals can see and sense things humans cannot. I have two dogs that periodicly will start barking and growling at the wall or a bed. Then they scamper off like something scared them. This scares the shit out of me. Sometimes I am home alone and will hear scuffling across the livingroom carpet.

hah seriously, this stuff is starting to bug me.

i dont really have any stories, i just know of one about my mom. my mom's mom had been sick for years. one night, my mom felt a rush and sensed her mom. she looked at time it happened. next day, she heard her mom died and the time she died was same time as the rush she felt

I have a few stories myself. (and no one believed in ghosts until they spent the night at my house )
- One night, i was sleeping in a bunk bed (my brother was on the bottom bunk and i was on the top) and i woke up because i felt like someone was in my room. I opened my eyes, expecting to SEE something, but i only felt someone there. Then, when i started to drift back to sleep, I hear someone coming UP the ladder of the bunk (heard the metal creaking as it does when I, myself climb it). I was perfectly still .. so i know it wasn't me. I thought ..ok it must be Cris (my brother) and i said "Cris, go back to bed, its nothing" (he'd often see or hear things as well). Nothing. Silence. The creaking paused and then continued until i knew whatever it was had reached the top. I felt something staring at me (i looked straigth at the spot where someone would be standing and saw nothing) and then i saw the bottom of the bed, near the stairs dent in ..as if someone were standing or sitting on it. I waited and i couldn't move because I was so scared. I watched that thing dent in the bed, creeping up beside me and then suddenly, it wasn't a small dent in the bed any more, it was a loooong dent, like someone was lying down next to me. I started screaming my brother's name and started kicking at it at the same time.. and then it went away. My brother slept in my bed that night, i was so freaked out.

Alright, though my ghost experiences don't actually include a sighting, they do have quite a bit of paranormal stuff that just can't be explained by anything.

There's one particular farmhouse near my town where my sister and her boyfriend stayed while the guy who owned it went on a trip. the place was uber creepy to start with. Part of the house was very old and it had weird books on witcraft and sorcery up in the second floor library. A porcelain doll was hanging in the main room on the curtains where you could see it if entering from the only three doors to the room. The place had swords, throwing stars, and some other assorted weaponry laying around. the whole place was like some giant museum of weird collectables. One painting portrayed Chronus of Greek mythology devouring his children. Another had some kind of vampire being impaled by a cross, and it happened to be located right above the second floor stairs so you could see it when descending.

did I mention the house had no locks? Yeah, it was also in the middle of nowhere. Images of serial killers coming in the night came to mind each time I was there. Her boyfriend (now ex) was and is a friend of mine, and me and other people we knew showed up there to hang on quite a few nights. the place had a sense of foreboding about it, though it was strongest at night. What's worse, the guy who owned it (around our age approximately) came home one day to find his friend sitting in the woods with his head blow off and a shotgun in his hands down by the woods. Mark another creepy location, the sharp path leading down into the woods by the woodshed.

Anyhow, nothing much happened there a lot of the time. Every single happening was experienced by more than one person, so I can't be full of shit. One common noise was footsteps upstairs. We'd hear heavy footsteps creaking across the floor. the floor up there was very creaky, and you could hear when someone walked above you as the main room was right below. Nobody was up there any of the times we heard walking around. mostly we were scared to go check it out because you had to reach the very top of the staircase to reach up and click on the light. We did manage to gather enough courage to check it out each time and found nothing at all.

Several times we left the house to find all the doors open. The doors all closed very securely in the house, and it was odd to find every single one of them opened. What's worse is the time me and Nick (sister's boyfriend at the time) were there trying to sleep one night and heard a loud crash. It sounded exactly like a screen door had been slammed forcefully from the direction of the living room that led into the kitchen. The problem is that no door is there. In fact, the place has no screen doors anywhere. Suitably creeped out, we went back to sleep.

Another time, I was there watching movies with a friend and nobody else was in the house. It was the last time any of us were there. We heard clanging around from the kitchen, as if somebody was slamming around the iron pots in there. We checked it out and everything was normal and in place. The pots there were huge, so there is no way a mouse or any other rodent moved them without taking serious steroids. It's funny that the occurances happened more often after the geniuses living there decided to redecorate the house. From what I've heard, ghosts have problems with new people and changes in their surroundings. The guy who owned it said the ghost(s?) had been dormant for a long time. I guess they just needed a prodding.

The weirdest experience was out by the pond near mightnight. the same friend who was there for the pan incident later was there with his brother and his brother's friend. We all went out to the stagnant little pond for no particular reason. Everything was dead silent. Then we heard what sounded like voices coming across the pond. The words were too faint to make out, but we could tell several people were talking and very low. Eager to find out what the hell was going on, we ran around the pond as fast as we could, looking in that direction the whole time. A field of tall grass was on that entire side, but we would have seen anyone running away by the moonlight. Nobody and nothing was there. We were pretty freaked out, so we took the route past the fields back to the road . Back in the house, the doors were all open inside, and we were the only ones visiting.

On a side note, the guy living there had a picture of Bin Laden on his door long before 9/11. My sister was tehre around 2000. The guy took off without telling anyone where he went off to but rented his house to people he barely knew. I wonder to this day if he wasn't some kind of terrorist or cultist. You'd really have to have seen the place to understand. I hope this comes out as readable. I went through it fairly quickly.
