w00h00, my second favorite group have finally released their new cd this Tuesday, self titled.

Antagony told me he was dissapointed with it in the first listen (i've not talked to him since. and no not cuz he didn't like the cd but i thought it was okay. well, i've listened to it three times now and i love it.

am I biased? i try not to be, but i'd be lying if i said i was not. but really, i love it.

the thing about the Deftones is it gives off the raw, intense controlled chaos that most of your harder edge metal has without sounding like he's a demon in a bad b movie.

no offense to heavy, heavy metal fans. but after hearing the growling voices for three or more songs i get bored and annoyed quick,

the deftones often plays music as heavy (not the same, but close) to some death metal and thrash and it sounds good. its still a lot of yelling and Chingo can fuckin SQUEEL but it... it has a neat rythem to me.


anyhow..... if you liked Adrenaline you will probably like Deftones. but if you know them like I do you realize every one of their lps sound very different with a raw controlled chaos at all times.

its good.

if someone hears it but wants a little bit more.... harmony? go for White Pony.

although i don't listen to or like many bands similar to them, i really, really love Deftones....and always have.

they have a style totally of their own. amazing lyrics, dark songs, unique vocals. musically, they are almost perfect.

(now, their image on the other hand i fucking hate, but it doesn't matter.)

Around the Fur is definitely my favourite album by them. I love 90% of the songs- which is rare for me.

i really love the deftones to they are one of ther only numetal bands i still listen to,
i think the new albums great but white pony and adrenaline are way better,
id say the bst songs are hexagram, minerva, death blow, bloody cape, and anniversary of an uniteresting event

I like the new album..I'm not a huge fan of theirs but the new album is unique in style from what I can tell.

They're alright IMO, nothing to write home about, but they do put on an awesome live show. Saw them with Glassjaw a couple years ago, they kicked ass... too bad the venue had the worst acoustics I ever heard - it was an ice skating rink, heh

christ i would love to see them( detones) and glassjaw togeither, u can seethe deftones influence all over glassjaw- both amazing bands. Deftones really are spectacular. ive be relistenin to their stuff recently- still blows me away to this day. There arent many other bands i can pull out of my musical past and still listen to. much much love for those boys

I was a little disappointed with the new one. But, I can;t say for sure whether I think it's any good because I've only listened to it a couple of times. Tuesday was a big CD day. Most Cd's take be quite a few listens to "warm-up" to them. I guess my expectations are always too high when it's a band I like.

I'm sure I'll like it, I mean, it;s the Deftones, come on.

haven't heard it yet, but I loved Adrenaline and White Pony is good too, the others were decent. I'm in no way a HARDCORE Deftones fan, but I definately respect them and their style.

i liked the energy of adrenaline and around the fur more so than the plodding feel of white pony. constant whispered vocals over same-tempoed songs doesn't do it for me for too long. what direction does the new album go in?

imo, Deftones is closest to Adrenaline.

I bought the new album the day it came out and have to say I'm loving it. I started listening to them at White Pony and then Adrenaline and then Around the Fur and now this one. I said all of that to say that the new cd sounds more like a cross between ATF and White Pony. That's just me. My favorite tracks on there: Hexagram, Needles and Pins, Minerva, When Girls Telephone Boys (hardest song on the album), and Lucky You.

the new one is basically White Pony part 2.

sounds nothing like adrenaline.

my favourite tracks are:

almost every song from this album goes like this:

clean guitar....clean guitar.....BLAST IN with distortion playing the same riff as the clean guitar.....vocals enter as the verse riff plays slightly quiter.

hehe. i love them anyways.

The album is good, but everyone song on it sounds practically the same. It was kind of a letdown after White Pony.

i love deftones , i might see them real soon , i have liked them for around 4 years??? but i think adrenaline is my favorite album.

I have a hard time saying which is my favorite deftones album. Around the fur is the shit, and adrenaline is just balls to the wall antics. White pony they took a much different approach. much more mellow yet still could make a prison inmate nod his head and strike a lighter. Passenger is the shit by the way. whoever told them to put maynard on a deftones song is a fucking genious. the new one however. i must say i'm dissapointed. Usually i have no problem just kicking back, inserting the cd and letting it go. i couldn't do it. i don't know what's up with the 'Tones. I love minerva, but find it impossible to listen to the rest. Somewhere along the line chino lost his sense of melody and timing. his vocals don't match the rythm of the songs. and all the lyrics are way too high pictched to enjoy(even with the treble down). they went from a metal/pimprock band to a hardcoreish band. i'm not a fan of hardcore. it's probibly just one of those things i need to grow into. this cd i mean. which is sad to say for a deftones cd.
