Unfortunately it seems that the music industry insists on marketing poor quality, and that hurts the enjoyment of the genre.
Well you see what it is is they only care about the profit portion these days and not whether or not the music being sold is quality product. Rather than let an artist take his time and take months, possibly years, making the best album they possibly can (which is the way it should be done) they would rather have them just release the utmost minimal workload placed into an album so they can hurry up and sell it and cash in more profits off of them. And the really sad thing is these days the artists have the exact same mind set and could care less about the music or making respectable music and willingly let these record execs use them like puppets as long as they get a nice big paycheck in exchange for their soul. Artists like Missy Elliot and Puff Daddy have openly admitted that they no longer even try to write ill rhymes and just be sure to have good beats and hooks and everyone will still buy their records anyway even if they are purposely making them shitty. Basically calling all of their "fans" morons in the process.....which is really what they are because they are right....these idiots will still keep buying their records except for the smart ones that know better and only download them. Which is why they get so pissed off about the issue. Bottom line if they put out quality material that was actually worth buying people would buy it and if record companies would stop capitalizing on the business by charging 18 to 20 dollars for a CD that at best has maybe 4 good songs out of 14 and then only giving the artist a quarter of this money people would actually buy the albums and the artists wouldn't bitch about money (not like they need it) they really have no business bitching at all anyway. Went off topic a little there. Basically they don't care about making a good album anymore they care about money....thats the only reason they became rappers because they want money and fame so no.....they aren't talented because they don't have to be anymore and even though they couldn't put out a fantastic album if you gave them a whole decade to work on it they still won't even try to.

I fully agree with you, today top 40 is the most irritating music.

Ah, maybe you should read it again. I said you'd have to be pretty dense not to get why I posted it. I never said you didn't get it.

It is truly baffling, even as a rock musician, that anybody could so confidently state that "rap sucks." You say the lyrics of eminem and ludacris suck because you probably feel they follow the same themes over and over (i.e. guns, booty, cash), but can you honestly name any rock musicians who don't tread outside of the same introverted themes, such as the the "distant" love, heartbreak, the oppresive other etc. And as a musician you have no idea how aggravating it is to here rock "music" (not talking about lyrics) that don't follow the literally the exact same structure, melody, and groove as fourty othersongs I have heard before it. Jesus christ, if I had the option of listening to modern rock, and being able to accurately predict what word the singer will rhyme with the following word (especially since the subject matter is so fucking repetitive), and listning to rap, which although may be treading over similar themes but doing them with innovative wordplay, I would obviously choose rap. I'm sorry mate but their are two kinds of music in this world..."good" music and "bad" music and they can be found in all genres.

Not getting why is pretty much not getting it in general, seeing as if you don't get why it's there, you don't get it at all therefore, you implied that I didn't get it. You must be pretty dense not to realize that, my friend.

Innovative wordplay? Talking about raping your own mother is innovative wordplay? Gangsta rap is not innovative wordplay it's just plain ridiculous. But I will agree with you on one thing, that there is bad music in all genres.

Sure seems like it eh? Lol. But oh well, no matter, i'll continue to argue my points against others, it's what makes opinions so much fun.

Raping your own mother? What the hell? What artist and what song did you hear that from? I've NEVER heard of some shit like that in any songs I've listened to.

^ Eminem says that in a few of the songs on his Marshal Mathers LP. I agree those lyrics are stupid and trash. I like the more soulful groups muh self.

Go figure, an artist I don't like says that. I agree though that those lyrics are trash. Didn't mean to get all defensive if I did, I just don't like when people generalize rap as always being "yo I kill you nigga, bussa cap." Heh

Ok so now you're going to tell me what I implied? Right. I don't even understand why you keep coming back anyways. You know there is better rap out there so now you know why it exists. Unless you happened to check out the people K-Wise mentioned and thought they were crap too.

One more thing:

"I don't get why you said all rock is trash in a rap-bashing thread"

"I don't see the point in saying all rock is trash in a rap-bashing thread"

"I don't get it"

So no, not getting it and not getting why are not the same thing, they're not even close. If you can't understand that then I suggest you stick to rock, you might not get the deeper lyrics good rap has to offer.

Yet you're telling me what I know? Gotcha, thanks. And the way you worded all of what you said did seem like you were saying I didn't get it in a sense, unless I misinterpreted it. Why do I keep coming back you ask? For one, I started the thread in the first place therefore I'm gonna come back regardless of what you say. Number two, as I said opinions are so much fun, and i'll continue to debate these things. Three, I don't "know" that there is better rap out there, if you recall I changed my arguement to my hatred for gangsta rap, or did you forget to read that? I could go on and on about this, but I won't I can save that for later time, fact of the matter is this: I don't like gangsta rap, I never will like gangsta rap, and as far as I'm concerned, I probably will never like any rap in general. Why? Not because of gangsta rap ruining my thoughts on rap if thats what you're thinking, but rap just isn't my type of music. I've tried listening to rap before and it's like trying to listen to country, I just can't, it's impossible. So I will stick to rock, numberfive, and why? Because I find it easier to listen to than rap. To each his own, I guess.

One more thing:

"I don't see the point in this post."

"You must be pretty dense not to get why I posted this."

"Didn't say I didn't get it, said I didn't see the point."

See my point yet, numberfive?

Until we meet again. . .

Downwardspiral. You realized what everyone was trying to tell you on page 2 of this thread. Now its page 5 and you are arguing your opion still! Why?!

Everything that I would say has been said again and again, so why be repetitive. You don't like rap music. Done. Why keep stiring the pot to agitate more people?

I stopped a long time ago, then someone else revived it, Chingal. Look at the post dates. And as long as people contradict my opinion you're right, i'm gonna argue it, or "stir the pot" as you say, if they get agitated that's their problem, not mine. I'll say it one more time for you, thats what makes opinions so fun. At least in my view opinions are fun. Don't you think so too? Anything else?

Until we meet again. . .
