Who's your favourite Male Rock Vocalist?

no biased poll like that other thread :)

Mine is Gord Downie of the Tragically Hip

He has an interesting voice, and his lyrics just make you want to listen to them over and over. Not to mention that he's the best song storyteller I've ever heard.

I also like Chris Cornell and Maynard Keenan.

coke babies 08-25-2003 05:18 PM

well, i guess it depends on your definition of 'rock' but:

jeff buckley
davey havok
cedric bixler zavala

IckUber 08-25-2003 05:41 PM

Lead Singer of Incubis Brandon Boyd. he rocks.

BulletBob 08-25-2003 06:39 PM

Chris Cornell without a doubt

gallopingwanker 08-25-2003 07:41 PM

my favorite right now is dallas from underoath...but he has/will be departing from the band

Reddevil63 08-25-2003 07:42 PM

Lately I'd say the singer for Revis has a bad ass voice. And I dont tell anyone this but my favorite is prolly Steve Perry from Journey. Let the gay jokes commence...

HeAtHeN 08-25-2003 07:54 PM

I'd have to say Gord Downie too... what an amazing voice.

Johnny Rotten 08-25-2003 07:56 PM

Serj Tankian is a favorite of mine. A very passionate and strident singer.

docbungle 08-25-2003 09:21 PM

Trent Reznor and Mike Patton. That would be a mind-blowing colabo.

Mr.Deflok 08-25-2003 10:17 PM

David Bowie, Peter Steele from Type-O Negative and Maynard from Tool

A. Rothschild 08-25-2003 10:35 PM

Ville Valo from HIM (HER in the US) I just happen to like his voice.

Sun Tzu 08-26-2003 01:52 AM

David Draimen

perripken 08-26-2003 07:08 AM

I could list quite a few, but Tom Petty would be on the top of my list.

Thraeryn 08-26-2003 07:15 AM

Hm. I like nearly everyone mentioned, so I'm going to just give a nod to all of them and name Jason Miller from gODHEAD as my choice. He has a clear, striking voice that was obviously trained, and it's easily as excellent live as it is in the studio. (That's becoming less and less common these days.) Check the band out.

lions20 08-26-2003 07:18 AM

Robert Plant could do things with his voice and hit pitches that most peopl could only dream about. Jim Morrison also had a very melodic and trancy voice.

World's King 08-26-2003 09:29 AM

Chino from the Deftones... no question.

unassumed 08-26-2003 09:42 AM

Chris Cornell, Mike Patton, Mark Lenagan, Devon Townsend

redlotuss9 08-26-2003 09:45 AM

Layne Staley from Alice in Chains had the best voice in rock, in my opinion. Then would come Maynard James Keenan from Tool and Aaron Lewis from Staind.

YaWhateva 08-26-2003 11:16 AM

Kurt Cobain, Serj Tankian, and Zach de la Rocha. They are just great.

Redlemon 08-26-2003 11:56 AM

Donald Fagen of Steely Dan. Nice and raspy/weary, while melodic.

to me, zach de la rocha is the worst vocalist ever :o ..that's because of his voice, not his lyrics

oh man, i think he is amazing. He raps everything out, its not really singing but i think he is just so able to channel his anger into every one of his songs.

rrf 08-26-2003 06:21 PM

MAYNARD JAMES KEENAN

I remember back when Rage was still together and Zack was the shit... his political angst was so cool...

Now, I know that the band is better off with Chris Cornell :o

Fallen 08-26-2003 06:51 PM

MAYNARD JAMES KEENAN

Yeah, too bad the pitches he hit weren't in any key recognized by any musician anywhere.

My votes are for Thom Yorke and David Gilmour

lions20 08-27-2003 07:08 AM

Josh Homme and Mark Lanegan (the work he did with Queens of the Stone Age)

almostaugust 08-27-2003 07:23 AM

Chris Issaac, Adam Duritz and that motherfucker from Credance John Foggerty (or was it Tom?)- Swamp Rock, thats the shit. I'd also have to nominate Roger Waters and Billy Bragg.
