I know this one!

I am Anne Frank, by Andrea Marcovicci. My wife listens to her. :)

Sorry. Not what I was looking for, but a damn good guess. I am Anne Frank was released in 1997 though.

Doh! Well, at least I was in the neighborhood.

cereal 12-09-2007 02:47 PM

I think I am supposed to post the answer now. It was "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea" by Neutral Milk Hotel. And here's my next question. What blues artist reportedly sold his soul to the devil in return for his musical prowess?

mixedmedia 12-09-2007 03:15 PM

Robert Johnson, right?

Thanks!

What unlikely duo recorded the soundtrack for the Francis Ford Coppola dud, One From the Heart?

I know that it was Tom Waits, but I can't remember who the woman was for the life of me.

Wasn't it Crystal Gayle? Anyway if this is right, please pass the question to Martian. My head kills at the moment.

mixedmedia 12-10-2007 07:29 AM

Well, Tom Waits and Crystal Gayle is correct.

Martian, if you want the next question go for it!

Martian 12-10-2007 09:18 AM

Hmm.

How did Lucille, BB King's famous guitar, earn her name?

God of Thunder 12-10-2007 09:44 AM

I love this story...

He was playing some backwoods joint somewhere in his early days. The place was one of those kind with burning barrel in the middle of the dance floor to provide heat. During his set, two men got in a fight and knocked over the barrel, setting fire to the place.

In his haste to leave the burning bar, he realized he forgot his guitar, so he went back in to get it. He later learned the two men were fighting over a girl named Lucille.

He named his guitar after her, not to remind him of her, but to never do anything as stupid as run into a burning building again.

Side story... I was visiting the "Hard Rock Cafe" in Toronto many years back and the first thing I saw upon entering the bar was one of the many guitars lucky enough to be named "Lucille". I turned to my wife and said "Well I've seen enough, lets go" We stayed of course, but just seeing her was a thrill.

Anyway, back to trivia.

Who did Axl Rose write "Sweet Child O' Mine" for?

Bonus points if you can name her dad.

mixedmedia 12-10-2007 10:19 AM

well, I know she was his on-again, off-again girlfriend...and that she is the daughter of...someone...but I can't remember who, lol

nor have I ever known her name...

she's in the video, though! :p

pan6467 12-10-2007 10:47 AM

Oh that was Erin Everly, his wife was it Phil or Don's daughter tho? I think Don.

She is Don's daughter. Phil's niece.

Your question.

pan6467 12-10-2007 11:06 AM

In that genre....

When Rick Nelson went to his "Garden Party" who hid in Dylan's shoes"?

perripken 12-10-2007 01:53 PM

that would be Mr. Hughes

Sorry trivia heads, I've been buried at work and home.
Here goes:
This guitar player started Humble Pie with the late Steve Marriot and went on to have a fairly successful solo career in the late mid to late 70's. His live album is considered one of the best live albums ever.
(Man... am I showing my age? It seems like just yesterday!)

mixedmedia 12-11-2007 04:36 PM

Peter Frampton.

perripken 12-11-2007 04:56 PM

Correct mixedmedia, you're up!

mixedmedia 12-11-2007 06:19 PM

Well, here's an easy one...just 'cause I happen to be listening to these gentlemen tonight...

One R&B hit single of the 1970's, according to urban legend, featured a scream effect that was reported to be the scream of a woman being stabbed, like, right there in the studio.

Gee, what a bunch of gullible kids will believe, eh? :shy:

Anyways, name the group and the hit single.

Martian 12-11-2007 06:28 PM

That was Love Rollercoaster, by the Ohio Players.

mixedmedia 12-11-2007 06:33 PM

Yez, it was indeed.

You're up, Martian.

Martian 12-11-2007 06:42 PM

'Nother easy one, then.

Who famously screamed 'I've got blisters on my fingers!' and what prompted the outburst?

cereal 12-12-2007 02:00 AM

Ringo Starr, after something like the 17th or 18th take of Helter Skelter during the While Album sessions.

That's it.

Your question.

cereal 12-12-2007 09:20 PM

What album begins with the words "we came in", and ends with the words "Isn't this where"?

perripken 12-15-2007 04:14 AM

Pink Floyd- "The Wall"
I'm positive about this, so I'll ask a new one and stay with some fairly easy Floyd trivia.
Who is the only member that is on every album?

jewels 12-15-2007 05:45 AM

It had to be Nick Mason.

Who was drummer for both King Crimson and Yes?

God of Thunder 12-15-2007 07:13 AM

That would be Bill Bruford

jewels 12-15-2007 09:44 AM

Yep. You're up.

God of Thunder 12-15-2007 09:59 AM

OK, lets stick with drummers

Who played drums for Billy Joel from 1976 to 1993?

None other than the very under rated Liberty Devito.

I couldn't agree with you more. I have seen Billy Joel twice, and while he is a great performer, Liberty does not get near the credit he deserves.

pan6467 12-16-2007 01:00 AM

Yes Liberty made Billy Joel, because before Liberty came on ...(evil grin)... Billy was kind of floundering.

During Turnstiles, Billy met Liberty and asked him to play drums. Billy pretty much just had session players and no true band.

Liberty said ok, but he was in a band and felt guilty leaving the guys.

Who were "the guys"?

perripken 12-16-2007 04:04 AM

I googled! Had no idea. Sorry... never heard of the band he was in.

Unicase 12-16-2007 08:15 AM

SUPA - Supa's Jamboree is the only thing I could come up with.

pan6467 12-16-2007 10:44 PM

The band was Topper..... it featured "the guys" who later became Billy's band

Doug Stegmeyer on bass, Russell Javors on guitar, Richie Cannata on sax.

I guess that was a misleading question, people thinking I meant a group maybe.... I'm sorry.

Someone else go ahead..... give it a shot.

perripken 12-20-2007 10:26 AM

OK, let's get this thing going again!
In memory of Dan Fogelberg who just passed away:
Name the album that he and Tim Weisberg recorded together. No googling please- This was a great album and someone out there should know it!

R.I.P. Dan Fogelberg
