Where has my appetite gone? It may have ran off with my motivation.
Ok, here's the deal:
Today at work, my insurance guy stopped by to aggravate me and check up on my equipment (actually, he's just a lonely/depressing soul who craves human interaction). We're talking for a few minutes, and he comes out and asks me if I cook. Just out of the blue. I tell him not really, and he says, "Jesus man, it shows." So thats it. I'm a malnourished unhealthy looking dude. I gotta eat. Problem is, I really don't like to cook and I'm never really hungry. This is probably because I'm a "bachelor" sort of. The girlfriend lives about an hour away, so I don't see her every night. She's a good cook, but when she's not here I have to fend for myself. Typically, my day is like this: - Wake up at 5:45am and have a cup of coffee - Work until 3:00pm sweating my ass off in the hot sun without any liquids. I don't drink anything all day at work. - Get back to my office and drink a beer or 2 with a few guys from my crew. (By the way, these few beers get me drunk off my ass since I am so dehydrated. Great fun. God, that sounds bad.) - Get home and drink a soda. - Later in the evening...who knows?! I'll eat anything like mac and cheese, 2 tuna sandwiches (eat these alot), .....that's really about it. Sometimes I won't eat at all. I don't even really get hungry. My stomach has probably shrunk to the size of a walnut. And I smoke too, which I heard can decrease your appetite. I'd like to quit, but I need to pick something else up in its place. Like excercising. Holy crap, did I just say that?! Funny thing is though, I really don't need to excercise. Dare I say it... I'm probably more fit than anyone I know who works out on a regular basis. Like I said I work outside all day and could probably run a mile in less than 6 minutes even though I haven't ran in about 5 years. Oh yeah, forgot to mention, I'm 23 years old... probably about 5'6" and 140 lbs. Body fat is...ehhh I don't know the percentage, but it's extremely low. So what's the deal? How can I trick myself into thinking I need to eat and exercise and quit smoking? I sort of wish my body would just say, "Fuck you asshole, You eat SHIT and treat me like a garbage can... Now suffer the consequences!!" I know it sounds bad, but something like that would force me to get it together. Last edited by messy; 05-28-2003 at 04:04 PM.. |

If you quit smoking - your appetite will increase - you'll be shoving all kinds of food into your mouth in place of cigarettes (even when you're not hungry).
Then you'll gain so much weight, you'll have to go to the gym to exercise. So quitting smoking is a logical start point. But you knew that, right? You really need to keep yourself properly hydrated, too - working outside all day and not drinking water isn't healthy at all.

dude, you need to quit smoking and start eating healthy. Use the patches, they work great. Just get past the first few days and make sure you absolutely do not have even one cig if you're using the patch. That'd be moronic, but many do it. Oh, and the not drinking water is very bad. That's another thing that's probably keeping your weight down, you don't have a water weight.

The glaring thing in your daily routine was the dehydration. You mentioned that yourself. Maybe you're not malnourished, your're just all shrivelled up from lack of water!
Set your watch to beep every two hours, and when it goes off, go drink 12 oz of water. You'll be amazed how much energy you have at the end of the day (and how many times you've stopped to piss). |

well 1st off you can have my appitite. im quiting smoking using the losange it it works great, but your appitte does increase. i wouold say drink more though being in the sun alday and not drinking, is VERY bad.
i pose this question, this maybe a lil' personal but... what colour is your piss. it should be clear to ligtliy yello. im guessing yours (when you do piss) is VERY dark and pungent. THIS IS BAD its a sing f dehydration with is more dangerios than you may think. it can lead to heart problems, blatter problems, and a lower imune system. start drinking water, and quit smoking that will help a bunch. |
