Plan9 Help me! Getting of my diet
Plan9 (and any other potentially helpful people)
Now that I've lost most of my weight, I'm finding it hard to keep eating right. The last few days have been large amounts of junk for me. I know you are very dedicated, can you share some tips to keep me going and focused? Thanks. |

Hmmm interesting question. How do I keep focused? Well if you want to know the honest truth, everytime I catch a woman staring at my body or when they ask to see my sixpack or comment that I look good, I think to myself g'damn this is reason enough to keep myself in great shape.
I am not going to lie to you, no matter how determined you are to get in shape you will always find yourself wanting to fall off the wagon at times. This is what seperates the truly dedicated and those who just want a quick fix. There is a quote that I tell people who are wanting to lose fat. Everytime they say that they feel like cheating or giving up, I tell them, "Nothing tastes as good as being in shape feels." I guess that is all I can really tell you as well. You can do it emphant! I found that once i started to eat more healthier and more importantly natural foods, once i got "used" to it i didn't really feel like eating much of the other crap. Also, once i found my diet changed and started to feel better, when i ate much of the unhealthy stuff it made me feel like shit anyway, so that was a good reason to stay away, or not eat an excess. You still can eat junk food, but if you each much or lots over a few days, it does get to you...
Although in the process of change, if i was ever about eat anything, sorta nasty, i would force myself to do a bit of excercise instead. Cause you feel much better after a small stint of excercise, comapred to eating some crap. Unfortuantley, i don't have the same sorta women PLan9 has hangin' off him, so i don't really get those comments alot... Basically though, it's will power. You will be only as strong as your desire and will to achieve whatever you're aiming for. It's better to aim at the moon and hit an eagle, than to aim at the eagle and hit a rock Also, Remember that the best you can, is good enough |

Sleepyjack makes a good point. Even on the rare instance that I decide to get fast food (sometimes have a craving for a cheeseburger and fries) I end up feeling lazy and run down after eating it, which in itself, detours me from wanting to eat crap for a while afterwards. Its amazing how your body will react to bad foods once it is used to being fed properly.

You know that's a really good point. I had two candybars at work and it made me feel like shit. I think my body was pissed at me, it isn't used to that stuff anymore.
Thankfully tommorow I have track practice so that will get me back into things. While I'm at it 1) What are some things I can bring to work that are at least close to healthy? 2) What is your stance on slim fast and the like? Let's say as a snack, or something to tide me over at work, not as a replcement or short cut. 3) In my other thread I asked you about weight lifting and running, and I think you misunderstood me. I was speaking more along the lines of will more upper body strength improve my times?(I'm a sprinter) I absolutly hate upper body weights but if it will help me not lose, I'll do it. 4) Just as an addenum, I loved your getting girls thread. Do you read Doc Love and his "system" at all? I've been following that for a while and it seemed similar to what you were saying. |

Quote:
Slightly chilled water is good for suppressing the appetite as well, as it slows down the digestive system. Water in general is good for "fillling you up" A lot of the time, when you're thirsty it canget mistaken for hunger, so it's always good to have some water. Other snacks i have are wholemeal biscuits/crackers. With bread, when you can see the actual unrefined grains, that's good The unrefined grains release energy more slowly, as they take longer to process and digest (compared to white bread or refined sugar etc) They also use more energy to break them down as well, into their smaller components. I sometimes have some cheese on the crackers, otherwise they're a bit bland to eat They're my basic snacks, namely fruit'n'vege though. Apples, carrots, celery, pear, capsicum and those small tomatoes (forgot what they're called, cherry tomatoes or soemthing?). Make sure you eat slowly as well, and chew everything up fully. THis does a few things, smaller compnents makes it easier and better to digest in your stomach. There's more time in which you can feel full, like the food will enter your stomach while your still eating. Also, you're chewing for longer which can have a physcological effect on you, in that you full your body into thinking you're chewing for longer hence eating more food, ubt ultimately you're eating at a slower rate, thats a funny one though. With that, it could be good to chew gum as well, sometimes a good apetite supressent. But if you want to put on more weight/muscle mass, you should be eating more than usual anyway? Quote:
But they're no good as a replacement meal, really... but good for a filler Quote:

^Solid advice , I almost felt as if I was reading one of my own posts
As far as question #4 is concerned, no I have not read that but I'll have to check it out. On that thread I use some of what I listen to on talk radio (Tom Lykus 101), some of what I hear from friends, but mainly what I experience first hand. Glad you enjoy the thread |

Okay, this sounds good. I work next to a Kroger and near a Meijers so I can get fruits and stuff no doubt.
I know its bad for me, but there is no way I can give up white bread. Not because I like it, but because I hate wheat bread with a passion usually reserved for politicians and insolent children. Is white bread really that bad? I'm not trying to put on weght/muscle, I'm actually trying to lose it. I was too fat. Once I lose all the extra I gained, I'm thinking about trying to put on some muscle, but I don't know if I will be able to, due to the fact that by the time I can work out, I'm exausted because I just got done with a two hour track practice. I don't like lifting upper body to begin with, so it's kind of a double whammy so to speak. It sounds like the shakes are more like a shareef abdul rahim, great stats yet not too many results at the end of the day Got to love the commercials for the Gazelle freestyle |

Oh, by the way. Go easy on the fruits. They are super high in sugar. Aim towards vegies instead and only eat fruits when you have to satisfy a sweet tooth craving. If your goal is fatloss, I would actually recommend giving up fruits alltogether.
