Lifting and then achy fingers...

So I've been lifting kind of off and on for a year now, and right now I'm at the strongest I've ever been in my life. With that said, recently after finishing a set (Doing decline/incline with dumb bells and then again doing curls) I have a really painful aching feeling in my fingers. I'm not sure if this is normal because I have never had this before. I am also studying abroad right now (in Hong Kong) and my diet is pretty different than normal, could this be the cause? Do the rest of you guys get some aching in your fingers? It really was painful and I hope that this doesn't preclude any long term pain (so far its been very short term: 5-10 minutes). Any insite would be welcomed.

T

Ps Im 21 years old, and my last physical was A-O-K.

Insane

I have received minor pain after some sets but nothing too serious that lasted awhile. Especially when doing shrugs with dumbbells and no hand wraps. But I have never experienced lasting pain, it sounds to me like you pulled something in your hand or you were lifting too heavy.

Now when you seay you were doing decline/incline I assume you mean chest?? Correct? And then you go into arm curls for biceps?? Because that is a lot of strain on your arms but if it is working for you keep at it but I would sugggest doing triceps, chest, and shoulders, on the same day to use all of your pushing muscles together so as not to overtrain. Then biceps and back on the same day. Give your secondary muscles time to heal, grow, and get stronger!!

Thanks for the quick reply,

Yea this was on two seperate days. Actually its been about three days total now (I do 3 day work out Chest/tris, arms, back/shoulder/legs). I mean, the pain isn't all that lasting. By the time I do another set I usually feel fine (maybe tense) but there still is that pain and I just dont want to be messing up anything. Maybe these are secondary muscles that are being over strained?

Not sure if you've figured this out yet, but you can try to find a pair of lifting gloves with more support for the fingers. Or just take a few days off and see if things work themselves out.
