Do I have bad eating habits???
Hey there...I have always eaten weird...I am not fat or anything...not skiny...just regular...I've been able to eat anything I want and not lose or gain a pound...it's weird...the doc once said that I had a really high metabolism rate or something...so here's how I eat...I wonder if it's healthy or bad or anything:
Breakfast - Breakfast??? What's breakfast??? I used to eat breakfast regularly when I was in elementary school...my mom would always fix me lots of stuff...but I only eat breakfast very rarely now...like whenever where at a hotel and we are at a Hampton Inn or something with those breakfast's...or when we go on a trip and we gotta wake up early...early enuff to eat breakfast...or whenever we are on a vacation I sometimes eat breakfast...it's not in my normal eating routine...hasn't affected my energy that I can tell Lunch - I have been eating those Swanson meals...those frozen meals that cost $5 for 5 boxes...I usually get 10 so I have 10 meals for 10 bux...nice buy if ya ask me...I eat 2 of the same thing every lunch and then I'm full...like today I think I'll have the corndog meal...so I get both corndog boxes which comes with like french fries or mashed potatoes or brownie or whatever and eat them...I ALSO eat huge lunches every once ina while...like 1 or 2 times a week or week & 1/2...those lunches make me so full that I USUALLY don't eat until the next dinner the next day...maybe a small lunch the next day and then a medium dinner Dinner - I USUALLY have a small dinner IF I have a big lunch...NOT the big lunch that fills me up til the next day...the big lunch that usually consists of those 2 box meals and a few other stuff...sometimes I will eat a big dinner too...but that may be a late dinner It's basically no breakfast, medium-large lunch, small-medium dinner...now my parents are both on diets so I usually have to eat some low fat stuff or no fat stuff or other low/no whatever stuff...I'll eat an actual 100% healthy meal sometimes...whenever my mom fixes something it's always as healthy as she can make it but it's always tastes good enuff so that you can't tell it's healthy...you know when you make healthy food that it usually doesn't taste as good as the unhealthy version of it... So I was wondering if my eating habits were bad or whatever...just curious...it hasn't affected my weight much tho...except I COULD lose an inch or two (maybe three but I doubt it) in my waist...besides that I'm in good shape...I don't excersise...but I AM bowling cause it's a college class...my fingers are about to snap off because of it...LOL... Is this normal for someone my age (20)??? Is it normal for someone to be in as good a sahpe as I am and to have an eating habit like I do with not much excersise??? Actually I do excersise a little bit...my dad has me working sometimes...like moving heavy boxes or messing with other stuff that requires a lot of strength...I dunno if that's making me any stronger or not but oh well...but I'm not one of those skinny, muscleless ppl either...it looks like I've been working out (so I've been told) but I don't work out...it's weird OH YEAH!!! My stomach also trys to trick me into thinking I'm hungry...it growls and stuff but that's like after I've eaten a large pizza or a whole rack of barbecue ribs...I ignore it or maybe eat a few chips or whatever...hmmm..I think I'm forgetting to say something else...oh well...I'll add it here if I remember... Well...I'm hungry...I'm gonna go eat...THANX C'YA ?:-D EDIT: OK...I remembered what I was forgetting to say...my stomach is kinda like a gas tank...I usually eat when I start to run on empty...that just so happens to mostly occur at lunch time...which is when I refill on gas...then at dinner time I'm not as hungry but it doesn't hurt to add a bit more gas in the tank when it's half full...I usually fill up my Mustang when it is half full...or is it half empty??? LOL...and by the time breakfast comes I am still full from the last two meals I had...sometimes my stomach growls at me at breakfast but I know it's lying to me cause I had such a big meal not so long ago so I may give it some bread or some chips or cookies or whatever and wait til lunch time AWWW crap...while I was typing that I remembered something else that I was gonna say but now I forgot...looks like I'll do another edit when I remember again...LOL EDIT: OH YEAH!!! Now I remember...I drink A LOT of water...I have this Brita bottle and it is always filled up and with me...I drink so much that I start to piss water...I'd say that I go through about 4-6 bottles a day... I also eat fast...OK...I usually don't drink anything before I eat and during I eat...I eat and then when I'm done I drink...also when I eat a BUNCH of food I usually gotta go upstairs and lay down for a few minutes...eatting wears me out sometimes I guess...LOL...I dunno...but when I eat I usually eat pretty quickly...not on purpose or anything...it's just my speed...OMFG!!!! NOT AGAIN!!! I forgot something else I ws gonna say...I swear...I need a brain upgrade...LOL Last edited by Metallica_Band; 09-20-2003 at 10:03 PM.. |

Yes, you have very bad eating habits. Not only is the food that you are putting into your body complete crap, but you are only eating 2 times a day which means say goodbye to your metabolism. Slowly your body is learning to not do a good job burning off fat and calories, and in a few years you are going to start putting on some wonderful bodyfat. Make sure you eat AT LEAST 4 small meals a day, and if you are going to skip one don't skip breakfast. As we get older your metabolism is going to start slowing down, couple that with a poor diet and you will be gaining extreme amounts of fat per year. You are learning some bad things that will bite your ass when you get older .

I'm not going to go over everything Plan9 said, just add some comments.
One thing you're doing right is eating a small dinner. Most of us eat a large dinner, which is accepted by the body which.... doesn't need it because you're basically in front of the tube for the evening, so it turns to fat. So eating a small dinner is a good thing. Eating more meals earlier in the day is a good thing. When I was 20, I didn't want breakfast, but later in life I did. I would suggest at least a protein drink and some fruit and maybe a piece of toast, if you don't feel like cooking anything more complex. Then you won't be so ravenous when lunch comes around and won't want as much. A lot of men your age can eat any damn thing at any damn time and not gain weight; I certainly could. Although it started to turn around by my late 20s, when I had to start eating more sensibly and exercising more to maintain good weight and fitness and keep the jello off. (And that just gets more difficult as you get older.) It sounds like you've got good genetics, but they'll only carry you so far. Eventually you'll have to add regular exercise and watch what and how you eat (though not necesarily diet). Though from what you say about yourself, you'd probably have pretty good luck in the weight room. You might try it. |

Buy fresh fruits and vegetables. Pls. Really, just hearing about people buy frozen meals as a regular deal makes me uncomfortable.
Also, eat breakfast.
