What did you eat for lunch?

Simple thread: what did you eat for lunch today? Salad and water? Tirkey sandwich and a V8? Or maybe you had a quart of Ben and Jerry's? This thread is for all the things that fill your belly mid day.

I myself put some had pork salad (left over pork from last night into a salad with romaine lettuce, celery, balsamic vinaigrette, pepper, and pine nuts), a pomegranate, and a tall glass of iced tea. Best lunch in days.

snowy 04-27-2008 10:42 AM

I had a peanut butter and jam sandwich on whole wheat. The jam is from a local organic farm, made with their own organic strawberries. I'm a jam snob. I'm also a coffee snob--the sandwich was paired with a medium roast organic fair trade shade-grown coffee from Honduras. Snooty.

Willravel 04-27-2008 10:45 AM

Oh sweet: PBJ! A classic, even with the organic twist. I've had real Honduran coffee before. It has magnificently dangerous amounts of caffeine. Copious, even. I got it from a Honduran, though.

World's King 04-27-2008 10:59 AM

Most days I don't eat lunch. I opt for happy hour food at like 4. Wings, pizza, buffalo chicken fingers...

Then a late dinner.

highthief 04-27-2008 11:11 AM

A burrito!

LoganSnake 04-27-2008 11:15 AM

No lunch. Only had breakfast thus far. Three boiled eggs with mayo and two waffles. Tea.

Baraka_Guru 04-27-2008 11:19 AM

Awesome thread.

I totally had a turkey wrap: a whole-wheat tortilla, deli turkey, pea sprouts, hoisin sauce, and sweet chilli sauce. I kept it simple...but delicious!

I washed this down with a rather large loose-leaf green tea.

ngdawg 04-27-2008 11:26 AM

Steak sammich with fried onions and garlic and a tomato slice. mmmmmmmmmm

Dude, not only are you entitled to do that, but I'm also going to make you a sangwich!

avacado spring roll and bread. The spring roll was not half bad considering it didn't have any meat.

Breakfast for lunch. Take-out. scrambled eggs, wheat toast, two pancakes, a sausage link, two pieces of bacon, hash browns. All for $7.00! After a week of eating well, and exercising it felt good.

thingstodo 04-27-2008 12:23 PM

Breakfast: buckwheat pankcakes with blueberries frozen last summer from a local farm with local maple syrup and some nitrate-free, thick sliced smoked bacon.

Lunch: "Smart Dogs" made with tofu and other things that tatse like a real hot dog without the lips and assholes, salad of endive, cabbage, spring vidalia onions and olive oil with Whole Foods 365 baked beans.

Mmm good!

m0rpheus 04-27-2008 01:27 PM

I was out at lunch so it was a cold cut sub from subway. White bread with lettuce, tomatoes, green peppers, onions, and mustard.

dogzilla 04-27-2008 01:33 PM

(somewhat) homemade chicken vindaloo

Willravel 04-27-2008 01:42 PM

Miss Mango 04-27-2008 02:26 PM

Bacon cheddar burger, fries, and strawberry shake.

SecretMethod70 04-27-2008 03:26 PM

reheated buttered egg noodles

Jetée 04-27-2008 03:41 PM

Lunch came around at 3, while I consumed two honey mandarin oranges and a sleeve of saltines, ultimately washed down with water alongside.

genuinegirly 04-27-2008 04:04 PM

Vegetable stew and a salad.

Tt made the stew. Veggie bullion, red potatoes, carrots, cabbage, and a yellow onion.

Salad included Romaine lettuce, diced Tilamook cheese, and Italian dressing.

noodle 04-27-2008 04:35 PM

Cheesecake Factory. Which is a really freaky place, actually. I'd never been.
I had a wonderfully fluffy ham, cheese, spinach and green onion omlette, sliced tomatoes and one half of a slice of whole wheat bread with strawberry jam. I didn't finish the eggs but the spinach was so fresh I ate it all with the tomatoes. What a great idea to offer instead of "breakfast potatoes."

whatever1 04-27-2008 04:47 PM

Well,

Today my wife ran a half marathon in Allentown, PA. Sticking with our established tradition, we had a hibachi dinner at Ichiban last night. Today, after the run, we had pierogies and hot dogs at Yocco's in allentown.

ŠiGiRed 04-27-2008 04:59 PM

Chicken fried pork (not a big fan of pork, but i suppose it was alright), mash potatoes w/ gravy, corn, and beans...

Jove 04-27-2008 05:01 PM

Soynut-Butter and Jelly sandwich with wheat thins.

ryfo 04-27-2008 05:02 PM

cup a soup with 1/4 crusty french stick and a homemade banana muffin to finish washed down with mug coffee

ItWasMe 04-27-2008 06:03 PM

For the life of me, I cannot remember what I had for lunch, but I swear there was chocolate in there somewhere. I'll pay more attention tomorrow and get back to ya.

ring 04-27-2008 06:16 PM

Humble Pie.

Charlatan 04-27-2008 06:39 PM

It's not quite lunchtime Monday morning here yet...

I made pancakes and bacon with sauteed bananas and fresh strawberries for lunch yesterday.

mixedmedia 04-27-2008 07:39 PM

I didn't actually have lunch today...

When I got back into my neighborhood late this afternoon, I picked up the chicken breast combo at Pollo Tropical with a side of balsamic tomatoes and came home and made a Bloody Mary to go with it. Worked for me. Kind of a lunch/dinner thing with benefits.

Linner, perhaps you could call it.

Fotzlid 04-27-2008 09:40 PM

Tuna on wheat with lettuce, strawberry yogurt and a Del Monte fruit cup.

Charlatan 04-28-2008 12:15 AM

Today's Lunch was Indian... tandoori chicken, naan bread, some spicy green bean thing and some peas in curry thing (no idea what these things were called they just looked good so I ordered them).

This was at one of my favourite places to eat lunch. Sadly, we are moving offices on Wednesday and I will no longer be able to eat here whenever I please.

little_tippler 04-28-2008 05:45 AM

having a bad day - some nasty pizza was my lunch. Forgot to bring my lunch and this was the fastest cheapest option.

Jinn 04-28-2008 05:48 AM

Leftover sweet-and-sour pork. It was alright. :expressionless:

JustJess 04-28-2008 05:58 AM

For the last 11 years, it's been a turkey and cheese sandwich with mayo on toasted bread. Every day of work. I couldn't take it anymore, but can't afford to buy lunch that much and other things required too much effort. So now...

Frozen Kashi meals. I know, doesn't sound tasty, but I have Lemongrass Coconut Chicken with 7 grain rice pilaf and veggies, and I swear to you, it tastes GOOD! Several other varieties, but this one is my fave. And it's actually good for me!!

QuasiMondo 04-28-2008 06:10 AM

Burgers.

xxSquirtxx 04-28-2008 06:32 AM

Yesterday I got to go to my favorite (and very expensive) Mexican restaurant for my birthday (which is today). It was so damn good!

Lasereth 04-28-2008 06:49 AM

An $0.88 Michelina's frozen lunch @ 250 calories with water. Boom shockalocka that's how you lose 70 pounds.

jewels 04-28-2008 06:56 AM

Yesterday was Cuban! Had lechon asado with yuca con mojo, fried sweet plantains (maduros) with rice and black beans.. In a restaurant. I've learned to make most of this, but hate doing all this in my puny kitchen.

The hacker diet?

I had a turkey sandwich and hummus with flatbread. The hummus is the fault of one of the girls at the music store, because she was eating some and it made me want some. The grocery store right next to them has these handy little Handi-snack packages of it. Tasty and convenient.

World's Queen 04-28-2008 11:03 AM

Hamburger Helper.
I'm a classy girl.

The_Jazz 04-28-2008 12:07 PM

The 8" Big Al from Fontano's on Jackson and State with brown mustard and no mayo, bag of Vinter's Sour Cream N Onion chips and a Diet Coke.

Maybe I'll head over to Mangino's for a meatball sub if the weather's halfway decent tomorrow.... mmmmm, meatball sub.

jewels 04-28-2008 12:09 PM

Today's was leftover chicken and risotto with broccoli.

fresnelly 04-28-2008 12:18 PM

A breaded Eggplant Parmesan sandwich. Oh God, the pleasure!

ring 04-28-2008 12:23 PM

Pistachios.

Willravel 04-28-2008 12:29 PM

Won ton soup and oolong tea today. And a rice-crispy treat.

Giant Hamburger 04-28-2008 12:30 PM

I had...
One medium-sized hamburger
left over pot roast
a few Italian meatballs
an apple
almonds and raisins
some sort of cake-like item
a couple of cookies
and an Luna energy bar designed for women.

I still hunger.

snowy 04-28-2008 12:42 PM

I had a ham sandwich (very good quality ham, by the way) with canola mayonnaise on Dave's Killer Bread--specifically, the Blues bread, which is studded with nuts and grains: www.daveskillerbread.com If you live somewhere in Oregon/Washington, it's worth finding and trying. I also had some pear slices and spelt pretzels.

ItWasMe 04-28-2008 12:58 PM

I had errands to do on my day off work, so I stopped for pizza while I was out. It was the only place in town I could find a parking spot, I swear! And the pizza was yummy. :D

inBOIL 04-28-2008 03:28 PM

Leftover risotto and some oreos.

Today the public safety group, which I am a member of, fed the day shift of our local police and fire departments. Chicken, barbecue, pasta salad, cole slaw, potato salad, breads, brownies, snickerdoodles, cranberry and oatmeal cookies and chocolate chip cookies = good Southern comfort food.
We served and sampled.

genuinegirly 04-28-2008 05:39 PM

Artisian veggie dog on a french bread roll, with spicy mustard and diced onions.

SSJTWIZTA 04-28-2008 06:05 PM

i had some shitty pre made hamburger patties in a box.

i think i will be purging my stomach for a while. someone get me a hose.

Bear Cub 04-28-2008 07:06 PM

Some leftover stuffed shells that the SO's mother told me I HAD to take home with me. Don't have to twist my arm for free food, that's for sure.

genuinegirly 04-28-2008 07:41 PM

This thread makes me hungry.

Fotzlid 04-28-2008 09:03 PM

Roast beef on wheat, greek salad, apple and cinnimon yogurt and a Del Monte fruit cup.

ŠiGiRed 04-29-2008 08:22 AM

Had a banana fruit smoothie, and a peanut butter sandwich today.

canuckguy 04-29-2008 08:43 AM

2 hot dogs, cheese, dijon mustard, ketchup.

it is my month end this week so a bit stressed. just ate some comfort food that i'll be paying the price for later on....

oh my heart.....

jewels 04-29-2008 09:01 AM

Have you ever tried the frozen Amy's meals? Every kind I've tried is good...some have more calories than others, but they taste like actual food, unlike most frozen dinners. My favorite is the cheese enchilada...mmmmmm.

It's not lunchtime yet, but I'm planning on having the same thing I did yesterday - tomato soup and an applesauce cup. However, I'm aiming for the food to end up in my mouth instead of on my shirt today.

filtherton 04-29-2008 10:31 AM

Macaroni and cheese with hot dogs, all organic and antibiotic free. Kids love the macaroni and cheese.

Martian 04-29-2008 10:34 AM

Lunch yesterday made me unhappy and I haven't eaten since. Upshot of this is that I suddenly realize I am fekking starving, and this thread doesn't help. Shame on all of you.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go raid the fridge.

Fotzlid 04-29-2008 11:01 AM

Chicken quesedillas and cous-cous. Also a salad of broccoli, tomatos, feta cheese, olives and onions with an olive oil dressing.

Willravel 04-29-2008 11:45 AM

Broccoli salad.

genuinegirly 04-29-2008 01:54 PM

Seasoned beans & rice with corn tortillas.

Charlatan 04-29-2008 02:05 PM

I am moving offices and this week has been all about eating in the places I won't get to eat in after the move...

I had a Carl's Jr. Big Star with Cheese Combo.

There is just something about Carl's Jr.'s buns...

Today is the last day at the old office. I think I will be eating some more Indian today...

I've noticed this too. I love nothing more than a good cheeseburger sometimes, and Carl's Jr. is the one fast food joint that hits the spot.

Today I had a salami and cheddar cheese sandwich with dijon mustard on whole wheat with a glass of orange juice.

sheep tongue in yogurt and lebanese bread..

its a lebanese delicasy. offle may sound gross, but its quite surprisingly nice. my mrs refuses to cook it..or even touch it, so i have to wait till i go back home to sydney for mum or dad to cook it for me. its been a year between drinks!

thank god for the folks!

Willravel 04-30-2008 06:42 AM

Actually Sunday night I had lamb in a lemon sauce and cottage cheese with Syrian bread. Pretty damn close. But that's dinner and it has no place here!

Fotzlid 04-30-2008 12:48 PM

Broiled haddock, steamers and pasta salad.

Willravel 04-30-2008 12:52 PM

Flounder and steamed veggies. HARDCORE!

Leto 04-30-2008 01:00 PM

today is Tax day. Our taxes are due today, so I took a bunch of photocopied receipts home at lunch time so that my wife could package them up with my return.

Then I ate her. I think it is always nice to have a nooner. Afterwards, we had left-overs from last night's dinner (turkey breast, stuffing, veggies) and I made her a French pressed coffee with freshly ground espresso beans.

I made it back to work by 2 PM.

* edit... looking back through this thread, I think I had the best lunch!

genuinegirly 04-30-2008 02:24 PM

Was there anything else in it?

Did you eat it cold or warm?

If warm, did you heat up everything separately or together when it was wrapped up?

blahblah454 05-01-2008 10:35 AM

I just woke up, so does this count as lunch?
