I went Chinese as well today. Fried rice and peanut butter chicken. It's Saturday what can I say.

Tully Mars 06-17-2008 11:13 AM

I cooked up a Chicken Parmesan thing I like. I grill the chicken breast in a light olive oil, no bread crumbs. As it nears fully cooked I add some mushrooms and sliced onions. Once that's done I cover it in a marinara sauce and toss in some olives. My own secret recipe, says Prego on the jar but I add whatever fresh herbs I have handy. Today was basil and chives. Grate some fresh parmesan and nuke it for a minute to melt the cheese.

The result:

So this and a small green salad with vinaigrette dressing was lunch today.

Paq 06-17-2008 11:44 AM

tully, that looks sweet..i may start taking pics of my lunch..although today's lunch wasn't visually impressive:
i made potato gnocci with a basil alfredo (low fat) sauce using ricotta cheese, parm, and chicken stock/flour/garlic..very tasty. potato gnocchi..easy enough to make, but far too easy to overcook...still, very tasty little potato pillows..
and i had a blackened chicken on olive focaccia with sauteed red onions and a chipotle drizzle. pretty tasty

Leto 06-17-2008 11:50 AM

Tully... looks very tastey! I have to take pics of my lunch. Althought today would have been problematic.

I heated up a home-made burrito (made with that tofu masquerading as ground beef) and ate it in the car as i was driving to the mall. Followed by an almond sweet & salty granola bar.

Bought a short/bold coffee at Starbucks in the Chapter's bookstore, and headed back to work. Since they double cuped the coffee, I am now on a subsequent coffee, using the second cup.

snowy 06-17-2008 11:55 AM

I had a Morningstar Farms Griller (best veggie burger ever), potato salad, and vegetarian baked beans. Yum.

Normally I would say that--there is nothing I love more than a juicy, delicious cheeseburger--but the Morningstar Farms patties do such a good job of imitating the real thing, with an enormous amount of convenience (45 seconds in the microwave and you're good to go), and they're a lot healthier.

Hooray for fake meat!

Greek Islands in Greektown today.

Taramousalata and saganaki followed by the spanikopita and pastichio. I won't be getting any lovin' tonight, but my palate got some for lunch!

Sweetpea 06-17-2008 03:25 PM

I had three poached eggs and two wheat toast...

I do like my breakfast food any time of day :)

MSD 06-17-2008 05:40 PM

BBQ spareribs with pork fried rice and wonton soup. I know I shouldn't eat there because they use MSG and everything is so high-fat, but that deep purple syrupy sauce on the ribs is irresistible every once in a while.

I did a redux of yesterdays chicken parmesan. I always cook a couple breasts, does make sense to waste gas on one piece of chicken.

Tonight is dinner at friends, tomorrow will have to be something new.

I was looking at the cakes yesterday, jonesin for a piece of the banana cake with whipped cream frosting! When Stan and the others bought New Seasons they made an agreement with Kienows (they bought some of their stores) and with Kienow's patrons to continue to make the banana cake that had become a signature. I haven't seen it for a while though. Instead I bought a multigrain choco chip cookie. It wasnt the same decadence, but fine. I also noticed a choclate Porter cake that looked good. Go get a piece ASAP! mmm.

Lunch today was a mix of almonds and pecans, washed down with Diet Dr Pepper. Midafternoon I had a protein smoothie with fruit.

While making a sandwich (or sammich), I often sneak a spoonful of mustard when no one is watching. My usual standby? Maille Dijon, of course. (We should talk.)

Out of curiosity, was there any shortage on tomatoes up there in Canada? With the salmonella scare in the U.S., many Subways and other restaurants still aren't serving tomatoes.
