Shaking Doggie
My dog Molly, who's a mix bred of Shih Tzu and Pomeranian, has this thing with shaking. Is that like a medical problem or something? Or is my dog just kinda retarded.
I mean, I will admit, my dog's not the smartest thing on four legs. But, do you think that it could be like some type of condition? She constantly shakes. I don't know... |

Picabo shakes when she knows she's in trouble. Garbage can knocked over and contents strewn everywhere, big steaming pile in the middle of the kitchen floor, she'll cower and shake when I get home. She's never been hit for any reason, a good cussing out is the worst she's ever received; but she's still afraid of the consequences. I just chalk it up to her personality.

hahaha. Yeah, I'm just gonna figure it's because she's a tiny dog. I mean my nephew dropped her once when she was a puppy and knocked her out. My mom had to grab her and shake her to wake her up. She does have a tendency of doing it when she's excited, or knows she's done something wrong... hmmm.

Ummmm. . . .just so you know, that's a really stupid thing to do. You don't take an animal that may have a neck, head, or back injury and shake it. That can cause worse injury. While we're at it, you don't shake dogs, especially little dogs, period. Ever hear of shaken baby syndrome? It's not just humans that are susceptible to that. |

The dog was knocked unconscious, she wasn't breathing or anything. Anyway, I'm not calling my mom the smartest person in the world. However, she did act on impulse, and because of that the dog's still alive. She's been alive for three years now, so I don't think it was that stupid for my mom to do.
The dog would be dead right now, had my mom not had acted. What I think was actually stupid of my mom to do, was allow a toddler to handle such a tiny dog.

Is your dog white?
There is "small dog shaker syndrome" It occurs in mostly small white dogs..not sure why. Or since you mention the dog was dropped it is more likely that it injured a disc or it's spine and would cause the trembling. I suggest getting an x-ray taken to be sure but that would be my best guest.

Molly's black. She's a really sweet dog, but she acts weird in places. I think she's traumatized... because my room is the room where the dog was dropped. She *never* goes in here now. . She's so strange.
Yeah, I figure that because she was dropped like that, was the reason she's shaking so much. Thanks for the advice, I'm gonna try to convince my mom to take her to a vet.

My dog used to shake every time it rained. True.

a few weeks ago my dog was laying on the couch and when I looked at him I noticed is head was shaking, only his head. He looked at me like he had no idea it was happening. It happened about 5 more times that same evening. His head was just like moving back and forth uncontrollably, like a small seizure or something.
Hasn't happened since. He's a lab/aussie mix (about 50lbs). I have been wondering what the hell it was. |

I stared at my dog today for a longer period of time, and realized that she only shakes when really excited. But I still find it really weird you know, that a dog her size can shake that much that it's noticable.
When I was away at college my sister said that her friends noticed it and teased her about it. I don't know... strange.
