AHHHH my eye hurts!!
About 3 days ago my right eye started hurting whenever I look to the left, right, up, or down. When stationary there is a slight uncomfortable feeling but it doesn't really hurt. When I look in any direction, however, it feels like the ass end of my eye is bruised or something. The pain feels like it's behind my eye, somewhat in the lower part of my forehead.
I googled and didn't really find anything. My girlfriend thinks it's sinus related and she's probably right since I have a terrible history of sinus problems. I just don't get why it's only my right eye, and why it's getting worse since I don't have any other sinus symptoms right now. I do play a lot of videogames, but I've did that pretty much my whole life, so I don't get why it would start causing problems now. This did not follow a prolonged monitor or TV exposure -- I just woke up the other day and it was hurting. Anyone know what's going on?

That's how my migraines start. I also have sinus problems. lol. Take an Excedrin, or something with acetaminophen in it (tylenol) and some caffeine. Don't look at any screens for awhile if you can help it. :P
Also, if the weather has recently changed, it might be a cluster headache. My dad gets those, and it's caused by the change in pressure and humidity. He takes a small dose of a BP medicine and doesn't get them anymore. |

if its just a dull ache i would say just try to relax and not look at much of anything for a couple more days. if its a sharp pain or it keeps aching for a while go to a doctor even if you dont have insurance. Dont need a sinus infection running rampant even if it is just something that simple. I get random eye pain every now and then from things like bright light ( my eyes are very sensitive to light) Sinuses messing with me or even just eye strain from changing what my eyes are focused on too much. Looking back and forth from my computer screen thats 3 feet away to my tv screen thats 8 feet way back and fourth for hours tends to mess with my eyes. But after a good nap it normaly feels fine again. Being that its only one eye and it hurts more when you move it maybe you just did something weird to the muscles that control your eye. Crazy REM sleep + bad impact with the pillow? who knows. But if its still bugging you in a few days spend the money to see a doctor. Or... wait longer have your eye fall out and get one of those cool pirate eye patches.

Insurance or not, you only have two of them and they work much better as a dynamic duo. Have you checked out the local clinics? They aren't as expensive as you might think and a great deal less expensive than an emergency room if you wait and then it becomes an actual emergency. You don't need insurance to see a doctor, you just need a little pocket money. A diagnosis would be less than $100. Ask yourself "what would I give up to be able to see?"

Occasionally my eyes will hurt too but then they both hurt. Just the one is kind of strange. I attribute them to being part of migraines like an above poster mentioned.
I could be wrong of course, but I doubt it's that important to go see a doctor right away. I get wierd little health problems every other month or so and they've never been anything that required going to a doc. But that's just my experience, I'm not an adequate sample size to extrapolate from Edit: Here is a good sight for symptoms: http://www.allaboutvision.com/condit...e-problems.htm Try looking under "pain", or maybe under "bulging" eye if it feels swollen, or "swelling". Here are two that look plausible: orbital pseudotumor -- An inflammatory mass in the tissues around or behind the eye that looks like and mimics the symptoms of a tumor. The cause is unknown. The primary symptom is a painful, bulging eye. You may also experience pain or discomfort around the eye. and sinusitis -- Inflammation of the sinuses, due to an infection or an allergic reaction. Probably the most common cause of pain in and around the eye. Symptoms include head pain (headache, pain around the eyes, toothache, jaw pain), nasal discharge, postnasal drip, coughing, eyelid swelling, swelling around the eyes, a stuffy nose, fatigue, bad breath and a sore throat. See also: mucormycosis. assuming you havn't had any recent trauma to the head area. If you're losing peripherial vision you might have glaucoma but that's unlikely for your age. And it's most likely your sinuses since you've had a lot of trouble with them before. Add some decongestant to that acetominophen. Your sinuses aren't one continuous space - they're compartmentalized. This means that you could quite easily have one side inflamed and irritated, but not the other. If the pain doesn't recede with over-the-counter meds by about 2-3 days, you're talking a migraine or sinusitis more than likely. Then you'll need a doctor, insurance or not.

I have a lot of sinus issues, and so I follow this regimen when they start getting stuffy: Benadryl-D (decongestant, has no pain medication in it, so I can address my own pain needs), Afrin Extra Moisturizing (to clear all the gunk out in the first place), Mucinex (to thin the mucus), and finally, a regular saline spray to keep the sinuses moisturized once they're cleared out. I only use the decongestant and Mucinex if it's REALLY bad. If you live in a state where you can still get Sudafed, get Sudafed. Furthermore, using an NSAID like ibuprofen or naproxen is a little more effective as it can help bring down the swelling inside of your sinuses. By the way, this was all done on the advice of my former doctor, who told me that the best way to keep sinusitis at bay was to just keep them as clear as possible. I haven't had to go to the doctor for my sinuses in about two years now, which is fortunate because until recently I didn't have insurance either!

Well the eye pain is pretty much completely gone now. I had it for about a week so I think it was probably me sleeping on a pillow the wrong way on one side of my face. Thanks for all the replies!!
PS: I don't generally take any type of pain medication or sinus medication because they "don't do shit" for lack of a better explanation. I don't really know why but pain medications simply don't work on me. When I got my wisdom teeth removed, I had a dry socket and was prescribed a whole bottle of Vicodin, which quite literally "didn't do shit." Nothing. Didn't make the pain go away, even when I doubled the dose. No effect whatsoever, from a drug that some people abuse because it's so strong. Nyquil makes me wired like I took a shot of adrenaline (literally can't sleep for 48 hours after taking it). Sinus medications have absolutely no effect, especially decongestants.

I don't smoke, and frankly, the thought of someone being addicted to cigarettes bad enough to smoke while they have 4 wholes waiting to be burst open to bleed in their mouth is pretty scary.
