Bong Creation
My jager loving friends and I decided to make a bong out of a jager bottle.
I have the bottle (about 8 of them) a glass drill bit, and a glass griding bit for a dremmel. Also a slide, the shaft it goes into, and the rubber stopper.. Any hints or tips to offer? and slide... front or side? What kind of angle do you think is necesary for the slide? I got the grinding bits to make the hole oval, and slanted as much as possible, but how much is absolutly necesary? Last edited by krwlz; 01-21-2004 at 04:01 PM.. |

I bought it at a local head shop.
I dont remember what bit it was, but it was the only thing they had at sears. Silicone carbide maybe? I got two just in case. I know that closer to upright the better, but thats a hard hole to cut. Plus the stopper thing is simply a grooved ring. |

Well, we were sucessful. We got a decent angle, but it's a little shy of where it would be nice. I think we are gunna get a bent slider tube. That way we can get the glass in the water more.
However, we decided to try the corvassier (sp...I know) Cognac bottle. The angle on the top of one of those is perfct, and it hits haaaard. EDIT: Because I shouldn't test the bongs directly before I write about them. Last edited by krwlz; 01-22-2004 at 03:42 PM.. |

I used to have (confiscated during a raid that eventually took the whole goddamn house) a Cuervo 1800 bong. It had a two hole rubber stopper (6.5 or 7) with a long tube from the bowl to near the bottom, and a shorter bent tube from just under the stopper to a food grade vinyl hose with a pipe stem on the end. Also had a bamboo bong, and a number of store bought, from 6 to 36".

New idea for the Jager bong. Since we had the rubber ring for the slide tube, it forced us to make the hole bigger.
With a new jager bottle (easily 6 of these laying around) we plan on making the hole just the size of the slide tube. Then using a bead of silicone (also something i have a lot of) to seal/hold it. That way, the glass from the bottle can hold the slide at an angle, rather then having to push the end of the slide against the back of the bottle to hold the angle (cuz damn... that just made me nervous). |

UPDATE: Got around to drilling a new jager bong, put the slide tube in, and thought about the silicone... fumes, and drying time mostly.
Decided to use a candle to drip wax in the tiny crevice around the tube. That way I can easily retrieve the tube, and I think it will stay cool enough to not melt the wax away. ALways thinking! |

I should have a fewpics up tonight...
Whether or not they work well (and trust me, they do) its fun as hell to do. Ive always been creative/crafty, and this is a perfect opportunity! My friend derrick wants to get into acrylics too... |

Important safety note:
If you are holding the bottle in your hand while drilling, wear a freakin' leather glove. If you are running tap water on it while drilling, your leather glove will get wet and feel nasty, thereby temping you to take it off. Do not give into temptation! Better a wet glove than a hand that is cut to ribbons. ~~~~~~~~~~ Also, you can use silicone instead of wax. It lasts a lot longer and makes a better seal. COAT THE STEM IN VASALINE first, position it, then apply the silicone. The Vasaline will keep the silicone from sticking to the stem while it drys.

I'd have to agree with the silicone only because of the fumes aspect. When that stem heats up who knows what happens to the silicone around it. Better safe than sorry.
edit: if it has a rubber stopper, can't you just use that as a seal that is airtight? I know when I used to make plastic ones I made a few that all I needed was the rubber stopper. Last edited by Jim Kata; 02-02-2004 at 10:11 AM.. |

Well, no stopper because of the angle it needs to be at, If we make the hole big enough for the stopper, the slide doesnt go down into the bottom of the bottle enough.
I was going to use silicone at some point, the wax being temporary. Vasaline eh? then the tube can still be used on other bongs, i like it. |

I'd avoid using silicone on it, you want to be able to take apart easily for cleaning purposes.
Try using a tapered rubber bung with hole through it. **edit** Scratch that, I've just seen the photos. Nice bong krwlz.
