Nintendo ON
Well, is this Revolution?
You decide. Some say it's fake, some don't. If it's a fake, then this is the best fake I have ever seen. By the way, it is a 6 minute long video. So if you're on 56K you're outta luck.

Hahaha. Wow. It's fake because all of the graphics they used are straight out of the Gamecube, but wow. That is definitely a great sci-fi look on the future of Nintendo and gaming in general. I mean, that is a great idea to have a device that can read your surroundings and implement them into "self-made" games, but technology just isn't there yet. It's definitely sci-fi.
Er, I take that back. Technology just might already be there, but there's so much below that tech tier that needs to be marketed and capitalized on. If this were even real, we would not know about it NOW, and they'd be marketing a lower quality device or system, trying to make money on that before they make money on something as innovative as this.

almost certainly a fake.
however, putting that video together is its own accomplishment. the person behind that has my thanks and admiration. from what i've seen of nintendo's promo videos... they should give this man a call.

I'm not sure that this could be completely fake unless someone could find an article where they say it is fake. All the technology that they showed in this video isn't anything thats new, wireless controllers and loading games directly into systems from other systems are already something that exist. Heck in one of the new wario ware games the system moves with you when you shake the DS.
The only thing thats really new is the package that its being delivered in and maybe the game lenses itself, but they did make a point of the virtual boy. Maybe Nintendo has been keeping this ace up its sleeve until the right moment. |

Perhaps "start of any typical next generation console", sure.... but of a "great system"? That has yet to be proven. By the way, that video was fake as shit. From the looks of it, Revolution is going to be about as revolutionary as the Gamecube. |

Yes, how dare Nintendo attempt to market their console as great! Ha ha. I have full confidence that all three systems will have great games, just like right now. Anyone who denies the greatness of all three companies is pissed because they can't afford all three or is a fanboy. A true gamer cares about playing great games...and there's great games on all three consoles, just as there will be on the next-gen systems. *EDIT* Just watched the video. VERY nice quality...I think it's fake, but I'm still not sure why anyone would produce such a high quality movie production over something that's completely fake. -Lasereth

I think some uni/college student probably made that for a peice of coursework or something similar to show off their computer animation skills.
Still looks crisp.

Personally, if they wish to not enter the competition and do their own thing, they deserve whatever happens to them. Shit, I wouldn't mind Nintendo becoming a third party and making games for the other consoles. How many things did Nintendo do wrong this generation? Let's see, lack of online plan, lack of third parties, lack of original titles, propriotary disk format. They alienated themselves. If this keeps up, Nintendo will only remain as a game developing studio, not a console maker.
Unless they offer something drastic that will pull the audience to their side, there might not be a Nintendo next generation.

I don't see the gamecube as mediocre at all. I mean, there have been some truly beautiful games made for the console that I just don't think would've worked on the X-box or PS2. (Resident Evil 4 jumps to mind, but certainly isn't the only one)
As for Nintendo going the third party route, I think I would sob like a little girl, if I was forced to play Link, Mario, or Samus on another console. Which begs the question, what lack of original titles? Luigi's Mansion, Sunshine Mario, Super Smash Bros., Metroid Prime(s) 1 & 2, a re-vamp of Link in Wind Waker and the aforementioned Resident Evil 4. Now they're definately sequels to existing character franchises, but certainly original games by themselves. The on-line thing probably hurt them a bit, but not nearly as much as it would have if The Revolution wasn't going on-line, so, not a big loss. I mean, let's remember the on-line hoop-la was just starting and wasn't all that big until Microsoft put some serious dough behind Live, at least, in the console arena. All the big three have proprietary disk formats, so I don't know where that's coming from. I said it before, I'll say it again, I don't think Nintendo is going to be out of the console business for a while. They've got revenue from other areas when it all comes down to it. So, as long as the gamer community out there is willing to let Nintendo experiment all they want, I don't think they'll be going the third party developer route for a while.

Isn't it something like five percent of X-Box owners and three percent of PS2 owners use online? It's not quite as big as they make it out to be, I think.
And hell, the online service the Rev is free. So there.

I don't remember exactly where I saw it, but I saw a quote from some N exec saying that while the PS3 is like 25 times more powerful than the PS2, the XBox 360 is like 10 times more powerful than the XBox, the Revolution is only 3-4 times as powerful and the GC. They said that instead of focusing on graphics and being pretty, they are focusing on bringing good games to the system. Not a damn thing wrong with that in my opinion.
They also said something about putting more focus on older gamers instead of only the young ones. I think that in itself will help N immensely.
