Do games wear you guys out too?

After playing PC games for an hour or five (Diablo2, WC3, CS) I've noticed that I sometimes leave my computer pretty worn out. I guess it's the same feeling/symptom as one might get after taking a long test or writing an essay. Do you guys get this as well? Many games these days are pushing the amount of multasking our brains can do. I hope the worn out feeling I get isn't my body telling me that I'm doing something bad...

Hmmm. Maybe you're having an epileptic reaction to the surreal amounts of gaming you do. I, myself, am no different about my videogame habits, but I don't find myself worn out from playing them (unless I'm playing DDR). Seriously; read the manuals that come with games. They warn about epileptic seizures and other effects that might take place. Take a break for about a week. If it still happens after that, go see your doctor.

I get the same way.

Don't forget, you ARE just sitting idle starting at a single object for hours on end.

Do that with a wall for 5 hours and see how you feel afterward

No, I don't ever feel worn out. I don't usually spend hours on end on a game, but when I do, aside from maybe a slight headache, I am fine. I think the longest I've ever played a game straight would be either Half Life or Splinter Cell 1,2.

I definitely get worn out. That's why I can only play videogames for an hour at a time (max) before having to save and do something else. A lot of people think it's just that I'm not as "hardcore" about videogames as they are, but it's a pretty serious issue. I can't play more than an hour before I start feeling mentally exhausted. I can come back in 15 or 20 minutes though. They say for every hour of studying you should take a 15 minute break. Sounds about right

I get worn out a lot more now than when I was younger. I'm 31 now, so I can get worn out by doing absolutely nothing, but playing video games sometimes puts me to sleep. More so when I'm playing the x-box in the bedroom and lying down while playing.

I used to be able to sit at the computer or on the couch for 5 hours or more with no problem. I really miss college and having 5 hours to do nothing but play video games.

Depending on the game I totally get worn out. The more competative it is, the faster I burn. So when I would play wc3x competitively on the highend of the ladders, I would walk away when I was finished both mentally and physically exausted. I don't mean physically tired like I'm huffing out of breath, but like my whole body is tired from being tensed up from really close games- especially my shoulders and hands.

If a game isn't very stressful, but still takes a long time to play, like Civ3 or simcity, this doesn't happen as much. If anything it's just my eyes get tired and my body gets annoyed for sitting too long.

Imagine this, a clan game of BFV, it is the final round an you are down by 20 points and you have a disadvantaged position (US Hue for those of you playing at home ).

You have written the tactics and have been giving the orders and it is on your head if you loose. Well, the game plays out and it comes to a point where you are on 35 and the enemy is on 10 with no bleed either way. You have no option but to sit where you are and hope that you can kill them faster than they can kill you.

3 minutes later the last of 'em dies and you have 23 tickets left, half of your team doesn't even realise that you have just won.

Now that is exhausting.

Hmm, yes gaming does leave you pretty worn out. Most of the time your eyes and head... and sometimes your whole body depending on how comfortable your set up is.

It doesn't happen all the time with me. Usually if I've been playing for 3 hours or so, and haven't eaten anything, I get really weak. I'll stop playing and sorta limp my way to the kitchen. Maybe it's atrophy setting in?

I only got that feeling after playing EQ for 12+ hr strait with the occasional bathroom/ramen/pop break. But usually it was exhaustion and starvation more than the game itself.

even at lans I will rarely sit for more then 30 mins at a time without takeing a lap around the place, but it can ware you out from sitting in one place for to long stairing at a monitor. Lack of movement can also lead to cronic back problems, mix that with a typical gamers lack of proper nutrition. You in for some trouble. so as it says in any videogame book, take a 15 min break ever hour and move around and get some real food, (not the bawls and m&m's you have laying around)

It's an addiction and you crash after the high wears off. Take sugar for example, Eat a ton of candy and you'll be feeling good, then you'll crash and be tired as hell.

Also there is alot of brainpower being used in some games.. I don't know if Diablo 2 is one of those games but Warcraft and Counterstrike require alot of quick thinking. It is similar to taking a long test.

It's amazing what I'll try to avoid doing during a long session (Baldur's Gate II comes to mind). I'll be starving in front of the computer for maybe 2 hours before getting up. I'll also hold my pee for long periods of time just so I can kill one...more...monster.

Back in the day I was playing a game of Baldur's Gate around 8:00 PM when my father went to bed. When he got up to go to work the next morning around 4:00 I had literally not moved from my chair. Not to pee, not to do anything.

Be sure that you're not sitting in the dark staring at your monitor. That's not good for you. Would you sit in the dark and stare at a light bulb for hours on end? It is basically the same thing.

Also, the whole "gaming until the wee hours of the morning" thing does me in, but then I am not as young as I once was.

Ha ha, Yes Aberkok! Same thing here, me and my friends who sit around playing and taking turns have even named such a phenomenon. we call it "The Dance" b/c usually the guy holding it is dancing in his chair, or wiggling his feet all over the place. This "Dance" is so important to master b/c we take turns every 2 hrs. and the few minutes in the bathroom could really hamper your playing time!

After playing CS or NS(alien vs marines half life mod), i often have sweat coming from my armpits due to the intense concentration. But as far as feeling worn out...well a boring game does that too me, as soon as a wake up from the fantasy of the game and say "well, this sucks" (diablo2 comes to mind) i say geez to myself, and feel all bored and tired.

I don't get exhausted, although playing for ridiculous periods of time can make me tired. Most of the time, I just get amped up. Nothin' like 2 hours of UT online to get the adrenaline flowing.

I play games when I'm too tired to do anything else... Even when I'm too sleepy to focus on a book, I can always manage a few hours of whatever game I'm burning through on the PC...
