They killed Mario!!!
is it just me or does Mario Sunshine fucking /suck\? i played it for like... ten minutes. the graphics are neat but the camera is _horrible_, the story/acting is obnoxious and it's.. just... horrible.
i feel molested! |

it's just you.
It's a hard game.. i got to the part where you get yoshi, and there is something about Delfino hotel and got stuck. I havent played since january, but i really want to finish the game. Don't get discouraged because you cant pass an area.. there are buttloads of things to do in that game, because it's a non linear storyline. |

New to this site...love console gaming though...
Anyway, my friend who si pretty new to gaming was blown away by Mario Sunshine. Of all the games I have, it was by far his favorite. I think we all had our expectations set a little high for Mario Sunshine. Taken away from that, while not as groundbreaking as other titles, it's still pretty fun. |

I don't know, I borrowed it from a friend and played it pretty intensively for about a week, but I started to get frustrated with the game's mechanics and gave it back. It is incredibly deep, though. I think it was one of those games, like Pikmin, that you either love or despise.

I didn't quite get the idea behind Pikmin, but I played it for a few days and enjoyed it enough to keep on playing. That being said, I can't get into Sunshine. There is no joy. I played the level with the giant electric manta ray for weeks and never beat it. It's pretty; It's original; and it's way too fricken hard to enjoy playing.

and also, bear with me, the control scheme is a bit too fucked up for my lack of hand strength. it's almost imposible to do the L moves while trying to play Mario.
Metroid Prime is much easier, cuz you can handle it a certain way.. anyhow, it does sound like i'm trying to find an excuse, but the disabled bit is really , truly, a burden for this game. speaking of which, i wish more games had a button configuration. one or two changes would make it soo much simpler for me.. |

I own it and have never played it. It's my wife's and she enjoys it, although she has not beat it yet. It looks okay, but I didn't realize it was that hard of a game.

I don't own GC, I'm loyal to Sony and Sega thank you very much, but you have a point about Mario never having a plot. In the originals for like Super Nintendo it's just you hit start and you run around hitting boxes for 'shrooms and plants then you step on little walking caramel cubes and go into a castle. Speaking of the flowers and mushrooms, has anybody else noticed Mario is based around drugs?

I love Mario Sunshine, but the only complaint I have is that there is practically no reward after you collect everything. It's even worse than Mario 64's reward (although I liked the useless gold sparks that'd follow your triple-jump, and there's nothing wrong with 100 lives or flying around the castle).

It was the complaints about the difficulty of Mario Sunshine (among a few other titles) that has prompted Nintendo to announce they're going to make their games easier across the board from this point forward.
Whether this is a good thing or not remains to be seen.

I don't agree IckUber. While I don't want games that are for drooling mouth-breathers, I think making a game exceptionally difficult cuts off the industry to the majority of people. Too many games today ratchet up the difficulty level for no good reason, cutting out casual and mid-level gamers.

That's where multiple difficulties can come into play; I've always been a firm believer in those options. Besides, the only thing really hard was getting all the Blue Coins, and that isn't required to beat the game.

Mario Sunshine was a great game.
The problem that you are having with the camera is a problem of not being able to control it properly. You have to make the camera an extension of yourself. Its different than any other 3-D Platformer in that aspect. Leaves the camera almost 100% in your hands. Sure, may be annoying to some, but it gets fairly easy once you get the hang of it. ![]() |

Sunshine wasn't really that hard, there's just certain little parts of the game where you have to try over and over to beat them. But guess what? They're all possible, and they're not that hard if you can learn from your mistakes.
What fun is a game if you can just breeze through the whole thing anyway? There have been points where I wanted to throw the controller at the TV, but it was rarely because of camera issues, because I have *complete control* over the camera with the C stick. It was mainly stuff like not jumping quick enough, or late enough, not bouncing off a wall in the correct angle, etc. |
