I'm playing on Guardian as The Black Viper. I'm enjoying this and decided on it over Lin2. Send me a tell if anyone is on that server. We have a Supergroup just starting and we can always sidekick a low level player if they are interested.

Well, I broke down and picked it up the other day. I gotta say that so far I am impressed with the overall design. The hero creator is excellent! I.'ve spent almost as much time making up heros as I have in game. I do like being able to make some sort of progress in an hour or so of play, but I'm still only level 7 and I'm sure the leveling will scale up soon. We'll see how it fares after the first month is up.

I'm level 34 now on Victory, things are slowing down quite a bit xp-wise and I've started playing a bit less until there is some reason to hit 40.

There was an option for that, right at the end of beta I think. No longer available though.

It's good to start out with a Tank or a Blaster first, Tanks can take a lot of punnishment, and blasters can hit hard, so you should be safe while still learning the game. You could try using a Scrapper first, but I have yet to make one so I dont know, they do hit hard tho, but can't take a beating like a tank. Then later move on to making a Defender, Controller. Out of all my charaters my controller was the hardest to level up solo, and hardest to play, but very rewarding none-the-less. I play on the Pinnical server. My characters are Bim (Tank), Mae Bule (Controller), or Gamut (Defender). i have a couple more but I hardly use em.

I think it's a well done, well thought out game....I just miss getting stuff more than once every other level...
Once you get into the later levels, it's hard to juggle more than one character....I used to have a whole bunch, but I deleted most of them because I hardly ever used them. And if you're ever on the Virtue server: Aurea Sandria, level 26 scrapper.

Seems that every time i even start to get remotly bored of the game. Something happens and sucks me back in. Something as simple as this last patch, being able to change my costume, made me love it more.
I heard from a friend that said she read somewhere that in a later patch you might be able to get rid of powers you dont want? I guess it to be rumor, but if true might be useful. Damn i hate Clap and Fiery Aura. Any one else heard the same thing too?

They are supposed to implement respec of powers someday. I'd rather they tune the current gameplay a bit first though, that is just my opinion though. I started a tanker the other night, my main is a blaster...damn punching fools is fun! chasing them around when they run is not though

My main guy (lvl 20) is a tanker, but i made a few choices playing i'd like to take back. My power sets are all wacky. So taking back powers would be nice.
Clap-Is nice for enimies lower level then you, at least one or more level, but once you try and use it on eniemes equal to or higer then your level, it dizzys them for a lot less time. And usualy hits thirty to forty percent of the villians in the room. Fiery Aura-Also is nice against lower level goons, it hits everyone for about eight to ten at times. but if you use it on higher level goons, it hits them for two to four. And most of the time it misses alot because of the villians higher levels. The endurance cost of it is way high. So if they could just mabey fix some powers, make them balanced, then mabey people wouldnt want to change. So every power on your list is always worth getting, what good is a power available to you if you never want to get it due to reasons of crapyness. At first running after knocked back baddies was annoying. But after a while you dont really mind it anymore. Tankers are fun tho, i have a Fire/Super Strength tank, its great beating the crap out of baddies. I love roof top fighting and knocking baddies off the roofs (Don't be hating you lower level heros, there dead by the time they hit the floor.... sometimes). Did I ramble again?

I'm playing on Guardian (one of the severely underpopulated servers).
Some friends of mine and I are in the Supergroup The CompuNation, an all computer related Supergroup. My Characters: RAM. - Technology Tanker Cyber Crusaider - Science Scrapper (Broadsword) NORTON-AV - Science Defender Non CompuNation guys Shadow.Boxer - Natural Scrapper (Dark Melee) Canuck Commando - Science Blaster Basically the Classes are as follows Tanker - Big Beatstick, dishes out the most and takes the most but is sloooooooow Scrapper - Little Beatstick, hits for less but is more agile and faster than the Tanker Blaster - Ranged combat Defender - Healer and Support. Controller - Mind Control / Elemental Control The best part about this game though is the Sidekick option. If you have a buddy who is alot higher level than you (5 levels or higher) normally you couldnt face what he is up against without getting smoked. If he makes you his Sidekick though as long as the two of you are in the same area you become effectively one level lower than your buddy. The ability to take on a Sidekick becomes available at level 11.

I've been playing since early beta and have played every power combo of scrapper up to 14th level... I finally decided to stick with Broadsword for the primary and eventually settled on regeneration on the secondary. My main scrapper I have rerolled 38 times usually around 20th level. I've rerolled mainly because I there really aren't any power combinations that fit my Character at the moment. As Jack Emmert - Lead Game Designer, stated "Scrappers are by design, The Boss killers".
I like broadsword because it deals the most damage however is slow as hell. Even if you take Hasten it still seems to take forever to get off a few swings, but when you do hit you'll definitely see a difference. Whirling Sword at 18th level rocks. It lets you strike ala l enemies within melee range and does extra minor damage over time for the next few seconds as well as debuffs the enemie's defenses. I ultimately choose regeneration for the versatility. I usually group with Tankers who distract the enemy by taunting them, with Defenders buffing my defenses and keeping me constantly healed, and Controllers rooting the enemies thus preventing extra attacks towards me. In other words, WTF was all the extra massive defense doing for me? Nada. Regeneration has #1 with a bullet most useful power in the entire game; Endurance Recovery. Everyone uses endurance to use their powers. No endurance = useless hero. Rarely do i every find myself in a situation where i run totally out of endurance and even when i do, i regain it back so fast that i can constantly keep attacking. the other powers also come in handy in that it focuses on boosting your health. The only really early level defense powers in the set are 16th lvl integration and resilience 20th lvl which basically provide resistances to damage mitigation (holds, knockdowns, knock backs, stunns, sleep, etc). |

hrmmmm thinking of picking this game up... I really want to play another MMORPG since I left EQ about a year ago... but I do have a question...
Due to the fact that I work screwy hours and have a toddler son at home and a wife that won't let me on the computer much will I be able to play this game alone? I realize that MMORPG are meant to get groups of people to play together but when I played EQ I fell behind my guild in levels because of the fact that I couldn't play much. Soooo... Will I be about to solo this game somewhat? DB |

Also as I said in an earlier post if you did end up joining a Supergroup it wouldnt matter if you fell behind their level due to the sidekick option (your stats get a boost as long as you are around your mentor).

going solo in CoH is really hard actually. I think they made it that way on purpose because all through the beta we complained about it

No PVP - This is a negative? (Also PVP will be coming with City of Villains for those of you who cant live with out it) No Playable Bad Guys - Umm again it's City of HEROES (Plus again CoVillains soon) Stuck with same looking toon - Not anymore No loot - Uh yes there is, the enhancements that boost your powers Weak Quest System - It is a little repedative at early levels but gets much much better as you go along.
