eye of the beholder 2
Hi all
I need some help. A friend about a month ago gave me this game. Played it and now am stuck. Its RPG style game using Ad&D rules. I have even found a walk through and when I follow the guide I can not get past an item. I am challenged by a stone mouth, I then step into a teleporter and face three monsters, according to the walkthrough you defeat then the step into the teleporter fight another monster and get the ‘eye of Talon’. This is needed to leave the level. I defeat the monster and then step into the teleporter and end up back at the mouth, which challenges me again. I am pretty sure that it is not looping. The same friend has just given me Eye of the beholder 3. I don’t want to leave 2 unfinished but I have been playing at the same level for over a week and it is p*ssing me off. Any ideas or should I just start 3, I do not think it is essential to finish 2 to do 3. I hate leaving things unfinished but I do not see any solution. Does any one remember this game it seem to be old 3.5 floppies.

I've never played it. Have you tried looking at other walkthroughs besides the one you have? Sometimes they aren't complete or have mistakes. I found this one which seems pretty comprehensive, but since I don't know what level the mouth is in I wasn't able to do a simple text search for "stone mouth." If you give me more details I can see what I can turn up.

Well, can't help with the gameplay question, but you can pick up 12 and 3 in a boxed set still, along with some other forgotten realms games, I believe. 1 and 2 are definately worth it, mostly a 1st person nethack with a semblance of a story. I couldn't stand the 3rd one though.

Um,quick check at Gamefaqs.com (I never played this game, but I feel the same way about leaving games unfinished so Im trying to help )
You might be overlooking something simple..I'm not sure.Hopefully this mini-guide will cover something the other one didnt. TOWER Look for a false wall - you can take Polished Shield there. When you'll see (next level) two statues, use on them Dispel Magic. Watch out for moving holes (what the hell!?). There's also room filled with Dragons. Unfortunately, you must defeat them all to get Soul Gem. Beware! They can use Pertify, which may wipe out your team really quick. By using teleports you'll get Heart Gem, and behind a false wall next to the first teleport - Body Gem. Use all three gems in Northern chamber. Now defeat this creepy thing (?) and get Crystal Key. Move two levers, push the button and take Amulet of Life. In chamber with holes, you must first push the button, and then throw a dagger at monster, when he'll stand on platform. Watch out for Fireballs from the walls (what a ryme ) - you'll found another Polished Shield. In Southern part of this place there's a Crimson Ring - you must have it. When you'll see three levers: move middle and right and get Shell Key. Talk with Mouths (this is reeeealy something, don't you think? ) - they'll challenge you. You must leave all Crosses and Magic Books, so forget about magic for now. If you want them back, first kill some Turtle guys, and then - a dinosaur (Mastodont I think). Destroy Crystal Wall by using any weapon. You'll get your things back, with Eye of Talon and Polished Shield. Find sign "The Sentry" and throw a dagger in one of the platforms. Place Eye of Talon in hole on the wall, and then put it out. |

I will keep trying to get past them, especially as the graphics on 3 look crap. How can they get away with having a sequal looking worse than it predicessor.
Are there any other Ad & D games that I can try instead, that is of a sort of first person style.

eye of the beholder series were great - I have completed them, but it was so long ago that I can't remember anything about the part you are stuck on.
Other old games like this you might want to try are Abandoned Places & Captive. Lots of these games you can pick up from various abandonware web sites., like http://www.freeoldies.com/ |
