I remember playing the original GTA topdown view and thinking this game is pretty funny. Nothing like running over people and stealing cars.

They have definitely improved on the original.

As others have said i loved VC until all the damn flying missions, like the rc heli, the plane for movie and the rc plane to drop bombs, they ALL SUCK. the rc plane is where i left the game.

That aside I thought that VC was much better, it just had that cool vibe to it.

On the number pad you can use 6 to pull the nose of the plane up and use 9 to point the nose down (works just like trying to pop a wheelie on a motorcyle). The plane flys left and right just like driving a car or bike.

If you do load the game back up I'd recommend starting with the check point that is to the north (directly behind the plane when you first get in). That way the check points all line up in a big circle and you don't waste your fuel. (It took me two tries to get all of the checkpoints....after crashing about 4 times before I got the hang of flying) The mission after the plane flying is awesome so I would really recommend getting past the plane one.
Been doing that too, the plane doesn't go high enough, need a savegame...

Playing on the PS2, the plane is challenging to fly. I recommend starting south as you have plenty of space before you hit the islands, and when you build up plenty of speed and start up, pull up a little. Once you're up, don't do any drastic altitude changes.

You need to give that plane plenty of room to get some airspace. I hated the flying missions but they are doable. It's not at all realistic and I think that's the key to success. Figure out the crappy flight model with the 6 and 9 numpad keys and then try and do the mission.
