where I grew up more than half the Little Leprechaun's little league football were Polish ...I'm of Hungarian ancestry.
shoot, the whole east side of erie, pa was polish, where my father grew up, and i used to spend every summer there playing ball when i was a kid...
wow...that's eerie!!! I go to Erie once in a while since GE manufactures locomotives there and they're one of our best customers, using a gadget we make on each one of those iron horses. Any good Polish food restaurants you can recommend for next time I go? I grew up in the Port Richmond neighborhood of Philly...which is sort of like Little Warsaw.

Good night, "on the prowl" Nick.
sleep tight, Jet....glad my wife doesn't log on to my forum prowling or she might misunderstand that
i haven't spent time there in over 40 years, but there used to be a fantastic deli/grocery just a couple blocks around the corner from my aunt and uncle's place on east 6th street...
So now I got my sights on the Polish restaurant near my mom's house ...excellent prepared foods as well as authentic Polish deli and grocery supplies, and Polish beer...will go this week.
/me is hungry for some of my grandmother's kishka...
do you mean the blood sausage kishka? I love that stuff. I'll get some when I visit my mom, fry it up at home and gross out the rest of the family...non hackers!
we'd broil it...
just as good... does she make it with barley, or rice? |
rice...but I've also had it with barley.
The kishka I like is that black blood sausage. But I've seen other sausage type things called kishka that are yellowish, like in our local Jewish deli they sell a "kishka" that looks like this and is not nearly as tasty...to my taste http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ish_Kishka.jpg I'm sure broiling would also work well, though I like to fry it until it starts to pop open and the skin is mostly crispy, like this: http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...2931139a9c.jpg Starts like this http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g2...od/Image11.jpg |
the last two...yum...

I make a wonderful (not the cd one) baked casserole of cauliflower, eggs, crispy bread crumbs.
sorry, not a veggie kind of guy...

poor sluggies :(
Gimme a break, I haven't had a good hoagie,
since I left Hatboro. |
I can ship you one via FedEx or UPS next day. I'll be back in Hatboro on Monday and all next week, as usual.
refrigerated, of course...
I've shipped cheesesteaks to Nashville...not to Elvis, btw. I pack 'em with a slab of "dry ice" and bubblewrap. As long as the 'wiches are on the dry side they won't get soggy during transit.
OTOH, if I were to leave a hoagie laying on my kitchen counter overnight and well into the next day, I would have absolutely no reluctance eating it. I rest my case. |
for me, gotta be fresh...
I like ripe and fermented.

after watching and searching for film clips all day that turned to not even matter, I'll diverge and go back to yesterday's comment about "rat race" and that not-really related doctrination of Hitler, and well...I'm rambling.
