Your minor brush with greatness...
...or the "let's all be enamoured by minor celebrities" thread.
I've got two: 1. Derek Jeter asked my sister out back in high school. She turned him down. 2. My good friend's older brother, Skyler, won the grand prize on the first-ever episode of the game show "Dog Eat Dog." He also let out a fart in a classroom in one of those teenage gross-out movies, I can't remember which one. I want BRUSHES with celebrities. If you're famous yourself, don't tell us here. Unless you're Mr. T, of course.

I've met a lot of sports figures, but most were at functions where you would normally find them, conventions and such. Got my picture taken with Dan Marino when I was like 11 years old(1984).
As far a random occurences, not too much: I ran into the actor Josh Charles(Sports Night, Things to Do in Devner When You're Dead, Threesome) at a Ranger's game(hockey, not baseball). Met Dee Snider from Twisted Sister at a Toys R Us. |

Walter Matthau was the star of the 1994 movie I.Q. which was filmed on location in Princeton, NJ, where i live. i saw them film one scene in Palmer Square, and i actually made eye contact with Walter Matthau in full Einstein makeup. that was kewl. he was about fifteen feet away from me.

I met Clinton when he was campaigning back in '92. I was 9 or 10 at the time. I hung out for awhile last summer with James Thrash and Cecil Martin of the Eagles. McNabb was too important to be around the people and just sort of walked around trailed by staff.

Spent a lot of time in Vegas, saw a lot of stars.
Once. Standing in front of the Barbary Coast I saw this knockout blond walking with a guy coming across to the B.C from Ceasars. I then noticed the "guy" with the blond was Chuck Norris. Of course I then followed them into the casino, where I saw him lean behind a woman playing blackjack and say something to the pit boss. I followed a bit more, then they went into a restaurant. The woman he was leaning behind was my WIFE. (I didn't notice.) and she actually recognized his voice. He said to the pit boss:" Just my luck, we go to a weddiing, and SHE catches the bouquet!" I THINK that is the one he ended up marrying.

Never been a star-struck type (interviewed many a music and sports star/legend for TV), but a few have got me tongue tied when I first met 'em- Todd Rundgren, David Bowie, U2, Gary Payton, B.B. King.
No easy feat, since in my line of work, I've met, interviewed or ran sound for anyone from Avril Lavigne to Yes... blues, rock, country, jazz, sports... very fortunate, and not jaded!

most recent effort...
ed harris bled on me. he was in town doing a film i think. so he came in to my bar and got really sloshed on guinness. we let him hang around while we had a few after-work drinkies. he was drinking with us but it got messy when a workmate dropped her glass. ed thought it was really really funny, then he snapped. got really angry, and threw his beer glass at the floor. then just as quickly, he was happy drunk ed again. he tried to help us clean up his mess, and cut his hand. he only agreed to leave after he shook all of our hands. with his bloody hand. weird guy.

oh yeah.
this one was strange as well. the backstreet boys also came in one time. they were all really really tired (apparently), and got drunk in the bar, as they were leaving, the one with the tattoos climbed onto the bar, and gave a 'true backstreet toast'. it went like this... 'to the hole that never heals, the more you fuck it, the better it feels'. didn't expect them to be like that.
