Loving it so far.
Tell me something please, has any of the past seasons' races taken them through Japan?
I don't remember if they have, and I was thinking it would be a great episode with the contestants racing through the countryside and a couple of big cities.
Maybe even the bullet train.

I dont think theyve gone to japan yet. Im not sure, but i do remember that they went through the phillipines, korea, and singapore. I know they went through the phillipines cuz that was last season, and i remember korea for sure because i remember one of the teams got lost and went to far into like northern korea and the producers had to tell them before they got killed.

Thanks, 1.
That triggered a memory.

Didn't one or more of the teams stop in Japan at an airport on their way to Hawaii?
I seem to recall it was on the last leg of the race where they had to go through Seattle up into Alaska.
I may be misremembering, though.

Thanks for the help.

So....lemme get this straight. You'd rather lose the extremely good looking Hera to keep the Botox twins, the roid freak wrestlers(the woman I might add is just fugly with fake boobs), and the old couple?

Hera is hot.

I'm not saying that's what I would want. I'm saying that's likely what the producers would want. I work with TV producers...pretty is everything.

Oh yeah, I still want Jonathon to die he's the uberass

Derwood I watched Oprah today for the first time since forever, that was nice when she gave the lady all the prizes for her apartment then told her she was buying her a house to fit all the stuff into. A very touching episode.

8 hours! You have to get lucky at least once in that whole time. Talk about being born under a bad sign. I am amazed that she kept going the whole time. That's a true competitor. Oh well, my two favorite participants are gone.

Jonathan - still an ass, and getting more so each week.
Bolo - No one told me I'd be doing long division - so funny.
Lena's rack (my two favorite participants) - Thanks for the memories.

So, who was screaming at their tv last night for Gus to put his shirt back on?

Otherwise it was a pretty decent episode. The gratuitis(holy typo batman) shots of Kris' cleavage was oh so sweet. Adam is a girly man. Jonathan was very tolerable yesterday, almost started liking the guy. Wow, what a difference editing makes.

Your thoughts?

Yeah the cleavage shots of Gus were not OH SO SWEET...woah. Kris kicked Adam's ass during the salt part of the race. That guy will never survive w/o his mommy. The models, especially her, are starting to get on my nerves a bit. Her comments about 'ghetto africa' were uncalled for imo, she needed to take in their culture/lives instead of worrying about the smells etc.

I don't know about liking Jonathan...although he was a bit more subdued last night.

And I LOVE Kris and Jon. They're my favorite. I want them to be my bestest friends It was so cute when Kris was doing the salt task and Jon was all "She's so hot" Love them!

Kris and Jon never fight and always smile. Such a breath of fresh air for this show.

Something about Hayden in that yellow tank top makes me light headed every time I see her.

The models are a bit annoying. "That $30 is more than you make in a year." Best line since the pizza brothers last season calling the natives of South America "Stupid Foreigners"

Last week when they were coming into Stockholm for the rest stop or whatever it's called I thought the boat they were staying on looked familiar and the start of last nights show confirmed it for me. That's where I stayed while in Stockholm last year, I was there in the winter though so it looked a bit different. Pretty cool to see it in the show though.

Anyway, the show last night was pretty good. I agree with everyone about Kris and Jon, they work really well together, and she looks great hauling salt.

Shirtless Gus was a treat and Jonathan talking about wanting kids scared the hell outta me. How'd you like to have dad flip out on you for coloring outside the lines or something? Kids are gonna be serial killers for sure.

John was tolerable last night with his comments, but I can keep my fire buring about him when I think of his hat.

I loved how the first group of teams didn't figure out the tower opened before 10am. I knew it wouldn't affect the end result since they always bunch them back together, but nonetheless, it was fun to wonder how long they would lounge around before they figure things out.

(I am starting to sound repetitive, but...) Kris cleavage - good. Gus cleavage - not so good.

Does anyone else find the start times kind of pointless? I see the benefit of it, but more often than not the first task they have to perform has a set opening time and they are always bunched up again, its almost like a penalty to the first starting team since they have that much more wasted time to kill.

At least try and eliminate the opening times of these next clues and let them spread out a bit.

The waiting times have been around since the first amazing race. My guess is that it is the only way to keep each hour episode interesting. If they didn't do this some teams that got a head early could possibly end up winning by days if the circumstances were right. The first teams last night made it in 5 hours before the last teams. Do that a couple of times and you will start hitting planes a day before the others. I do think it was funny how Kris and Jon make too pretty big mistakes (wait till 10 for the tower, and then the wrong cemetary), and then end up getting in first. Anyways, I think that team will do very well because of the type of relationship they have. Even when they messed up, they kept an optimistic attitude. Can you imagine if that happened to Jon? We might have seen fists flying.

I can indeed see the problem with teams getting TOO far ahead in the game, and I'm sure they can compensate for that by maybe limiting the head start to 5 or 6 hours per stage.

I only started watching Amazing Race with last season, so unfortunately I don't know much about what happened before that.

I would like to know what his "entrepreneur" job actually is, because I couldn't see anyone wanting to do business with him. And I wish it would have been Jonathan that would have gotten into a fight with Bolo, because it would have been fun to watch Bolo squeeze Jonathan until his little blue-haired head popped off.

Also, I didn't realize until just a few minutes ago that "Victoria" is Victoria Fuller - January 1996 Playboy Playmate.

I was watching this at my parent's house and when he hit her everybody started yelling at the tv. I hope he gets bitten by something very poisonous along the way.

That said...I was also dumbfounded at some of the ignorant things said by some of the racers this week while they were in Africa.
"Wow...no wonder so many people escaped from this place." Huh?!
"Ugh...why do they keep breeding in this poverty?" I'm starting to find things not to like about all the teams. My favorites in the old couple got bumped off, my second favorites Gus and Hera seem to always find a way to get lost from point a to point b and since Gus can't run they'll always be behind the athletic teams....so they will be out soon. I just might be forced into cheering for Bolo.

I was thinking the same thing about what they were saying. I can understand why Americans are sooo hated. And Jonathan, wow, I did feel sorry for her in the beginning, but the more I see of him I realize she has to be totally in it for his money which really doesn't say much for her either. He's going to hit her on camera. He pretty much did it last night. Can you imagine what he does in the privacy of their home?

If you're the sort of pessimistic person who believes that evil will always triumph over good, and you want to convince someone else of that fact, then your first exhibit should be the last two episodes of The Amazing Race. Look at kind, old Don and Mary Jean: so sweet to each other and everyone around them, no matter how stressful things get. The kind of people who, when stripped of their money, refuse to ask the poor Senegalese people to subsidize them. Surely in a just world they would conquer all! But no: Last week they were crushed and were given a second chance just so they could get crushed again this week and then sent home. It was as if the show were saying, ''Hey, oldies! You stink, but wait, we need a second opinion, so try again. Yep, we were right, you stink! Now get on your Rascal scooters and go home!''

It's sad to see them go, but in a way it's kind of a relief, since there were only so many times you could watch them wander around lost, and it became a bit heartbreaking. And every moment they were lapped around the globe by the horrific Jonathan and Victoria was to be presented with far too much empirical evidence that life is unfair.

This episode started with a tender moment, the kind that The Amazing Race should stop doing. The visit to the Slave House, the last place Africans saw before getting on ships and losing their freedom, was an incredibly emotional experience — plunked right in the middle of a game show. Why not gather the Big Brother housemates together and show them The Sorrow and the Pity? There's something unseemly about slowed-down interludes like this when you know that the second the contestants leave, they'll be screaming, ''Who's got the envelope?'' and dashing into a cab, the Slave House tossed over their shoulders onto the heap of memories that include tearing apart giant hay bales and roller skiing.

And, the Slave House behind them, dash they did. First to a travel agent to get tickets to Germany, where Hayden called Bolo a five-foot-five-inch steroid taker. Bolo didn't mind the short crack, but he was a little too defensive about the steroid accusation, don'tcha think? Boy, did Hayden make him her Jason Giambitch.

Then it was off to the Berlin Wall, which the show thankfully treated like any other monument, except for Gus' comment on how that and the Slave House proved how human beings can be capable of so much horror. (But more on Jonathan and Victoria later.) More noticeably, this destination gave far too many teams the opportunity to make a Fahrvergnugen joke. It's good to know that even under this much pressure, players can still recall 15-year-old advertising campaigns. When the going gets really tough, perhaps someone will draw strength from an ''Avoid the Noid'' reference.

The next two challenges weren't all that compelling, in that they really didn't trip anybody up. Whether they were delivering beer steins (steins are giant mugs, Kendra, you maroon) or squeezing out sausages, it was pretty hard to fail. (Although Lori and Bolo found a way, by making their sausages too short. There's a complicated joke to be made about Bolo and steroids and the fact that he couldn't get anything to be seven inches long, but in the tradition of the Ikea challenge, I'll let you assemble it yourselves.) The only suspense in the beer challenge was whether or not Hera was going to be able to stop thirsty Gus from diving into a keg. Suddenly, Gus' enormous gut makes a lot more sense.

My original thesis that life is unfair brings us to the episode's conclusion. While the kind and loving Don and Mary Jean struggled to find an enormous statue in the middle of Berlin, the two teams battling it out for first place were the two most unpleasant in the race. We had Kendra, who had proclaimed in Senegal, ''This city is just wretched and disgusting. And they just keep breeding and breeding.'' And just when you thought, ''I'd never root for her,'' she ends up battling it out against the deeply disturbing Jonathan and Victoria, who are starting to look more and more like claymation figures. When your only choices as to whom to root for in a footrace are these two teams, you find yourself cheering for shinsplints.

Jonathan went from wailing that he couldn't run with his backpack (with Victoria yelling at him to keep going) to dropping his backpack and screaming at Victoria for picking it up. She looked so agonized, perhaps because she was doing twice the amount of work on two fronts: Not only was she carrying Jonathan's backpack and her own, but the bottom half of her face had to do twice the contorting to make up for the fact that the top half is immobile. Is it any wonder she was so tired?

This whole adrenaline-pumped footrace was foolish in its very premise, in that they were competing for first place in a segment where there were still six teams behind them. Did they really want that trip from American Airlines that badly? I've always thought that would be the worst prize ever for this game: Hey, you've been flying for hundreds of hours, now here's a few more! After this race, the best gift would be house arrest and a plasma TV.

But Jonathan reached a whole new level of psychosis, even physically pushing Victoria at the end and screaming at her more in front of Phil, which so bothered our host that he broke tradition and said more than ''You're team number _____.'' Our finish-line therapist told Jonathan that he should talk to Victoria, and Jonathan took that suggestion and went over to browbeat her some more. Thanks, Phil, I almost let that one lie! Now where was I? Oh yeah, you're useless and I hate you and you're killing me. . . .

Earlier in the race, when Victoria had told Jonathan to leave her alone, he said, ''I never promised I'd leave you alone. That's why I married you.'' I think he meant it romantically, but instead it sounded like the kind of thing a psychotic husband says in a horror movie just before he kills his wife with a garden hoe. If Don had said it to Mary Jean, it would have come off a lot more touching, but there'll be none of that: Those two lovebirds have been put on a fast plane home. There's no room for that kind of sensitivity on The Amazing Race.

What do you think? Can the evil couples be stopped? Does the show need to intervene with Jonathan and Victoria?

All of us have our faults. Unfortunately for me millions of viewers are getting to see mine each week. I do not abuse Victoria,
what you see is a heighten version of stress and obsession mix with medication for a sickness called Sarcoidosis. What was stared as a publicity stunt turn in to an obsession to race and be first at any cost. This is a GAME and I set out to be the Villain to others not to Victoria. Victoria and I are working on our relationship to better our self and learn form our mistakes. I am taking full responsibly for my actions on screen. Please allow me to make the effort.

I am deeply sadden by the storyline that CBS went with. I am sorry for my actions, I am sorry to Victoria. Most all I am sorry to the Fans of the Amazing Race.

How dare CBS make a storyline out of things I actually did!

If this team wins, it will actually be worse than Zach and Flo a few seasons back. I didn't think anyone deserved to win less than that whiny bitch, but hey, we may have new kings of the hill.

Sorry Johnny Fairplay, you no longer are King of the "Reality Villain" Hill

I'm guessing the translation of Jonathan's "statement" is that it 's probably effecting his business, so he's trying to do some damage control.

He takes full responsibility for his actions, BUT it was all prescription drugs and CBS's fault.

(I'd believe it was drugs, just not the prescription kind. Which leads to the question that I wonder if these reality shows do drug tests on the contestants?)

I doubt they are doing any illegal drugs while on the race. They have to go through waaaay too many borders and customs agents. In many countries they still use dogs openly and they would be nailed instantly.

That's another thing. I wonder if the airports are notified ahead of time? "Tommorrow you are going to have 20 crazy people running through your airport with camera crews". If so, I would bet that the security rules may get bent a bit, because I would imagine that if Joe Average went running an screaming through an airport, they would probably be taken out by security.

So what he is saying is that it is OK to be abusive as long as you have a reason like stress or drugs, or editing? The guy is a jerk, and if he gets like that ON camera, I'd hate to see what happens OFF.

We should start a count in this thread. I think the wind up of a swing in the taxi is the type of action that should count. Would he have just slapped her if the camera wasn't two feet away...

I think the host should have knocked the piss out of Jonathon. Or maybe let Bolo practice some moves on him, could be good.

Are you kidding?? Too be continued? I wonder if this is some ploy to keep the racers in sync because Bolo and wife got so far behind. And the best part, it was Amazing Race's fault. We're going to put them in cars that we know will break down. Only problem with that is, only one car broke down bad enough to cause a team to fall behind. I'm guessing in next weeks episode, the now ~12 hours behind Lori and Bolo team miraculously catches up again... Or, it will be a non elimination round and the following episode will show them "wrestling" for money.

My favorites by far are Kris and Jon. You haven't heard them say one bad word to each other and are always motivating one another. It actually looks like they are having fun. I like Gus and Hera as well, but face it, Kris is better to look at than Gus...
