Damn, it is so annoying that this was not an elimination round. And double damn that they didn't shave their heads. When they first mentioned the head shaving I was rooting for the "models" to take the plunge. And I thought the incessant whining would end with the demise of Charla and Mirna. "People are staring at me." Boo f-ing hoo.
And am I the only one who thinks that all of the first place prizes that Colin and Christie win are going to be split between them evenly when she finally gets a backbone and dumps him. (Bad night - needed to rant.)

Half of the Mom's team is annoying as hell. (especially the high-pitched whine.)
I can't figure out which half, though. I too, was disappointed the models didn't shave, but I was more annoyed by their religious remarks throughout the race. (it's like they were trying too hard to sell it to us) When are the producers gonna quit getting their rocks off by sending these women on crappy overcrowded 3rd world conveyances to be fondled by every hairy-assed local letch? (you likey my long-assed sentence?) Go C&K!

ok, a little defense of the models -- normally christian+models is a recipe for me to hate you -- but honestly brandon and nichole have grown on me. the're relationship actually seems pretty healthy (especially when viewed in the harsh light of "colin and chirsti") and they seem to genuinely care about one another. though i am an atheist and (some might say) hyper-sensitive to people trying to convert me i don't get that vibe at all from brandon and nichole. In fact, it often seems that the've somehow found the best of christianity -- they use it to prop each other up and to find acceptance in their situation ("we are where god wants us to be" instead of "we were screwed!" or "this is all your fault you bitch" (shut up colin)). i wanted to hate them from the beginning but the best i can do is occasionally roll my eyes in a good natured way, they seem like a caring couple.
in other news: ain't no way i would shave my head either -- i can't much blame them, especially since without hair both would have a hard time making a living as models (imagine if someone temporarily took away your ability to do you job.). p.s. yes i'm still rooting for chip and kim. |

Excception to the rule, obviously, but it can be done. Her situation is a little different. My point is that by not doing it, they showed that they don't have the killer instinct - as far as the game goes. If you want to win, you have to be willing to go for it. That being said, as long as Colin and Christie don't win, I'll probably be satisfied with the result.

i think it's a bit naive to imply that either of their careers (to whatever extend they have modeling careers) would be unchanged by shaving their heads. Fact is that models have to meet a ridiculous set of socially imposed standards for looks -- honestly i think most of them are ridiculous and the entire beauty industry rubs me the wrong way -- but reality is that white models under the age of 50 in america have hair (in fact almost all female models have hair though i believe there's are some exception -- mostly black women). also, as a woman a lot of stock is placed in ones hair and shaving it off would be MUCH more difficult for her then for him.
If your standards for killer instinct is "willing to do anything regardless of cost to your life outside of the race" then sure, they don't have it -- but i'd argue that the only people who do have it are jackholes like colin. |

The two things I was trying to suggest is that he could find plenty of work with a shaved head - a lot of men can pull that look off. She was the one who made a big deal about his hair being his "look" and it would cost him work. Sure, she would be out of work for a while, but that leads into my next point.
If you are going to play this game, you have to either be willing to play it all the way, or expect to leave early. I don't like Colin, and I think his a SOB. He does go all out for the competitions, but unfortunately it is at the expense of Christie. For that, I want him to lose - but I wouldn't be suprised to see them win. He does risk it all (and guaranteed both he and Christie would be bald right now if they went there first.)

ok, i'll grant that it's possible that the best way to win this race is to risk everything -- often those who have no care for anything but winning do in fact win -- but i have no desire to root for them.
i'm not going to continue the bald model talk cause i'ts rather pointless, no one can realistically argue that nichole could occontinue her beauty pagent career with a shaved head. |

I agree with you about her career being affected by her being bald.
I wasn't arguing, I was just posting one of my favorite pics of bald actresses. Persis Khambatta from Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

Wow, I was sweatin' that episode out. I really didn't want to see Chip and Kim eliminated. The twins deserved to lose, picking the mud over the obviously faster rapids challenge. Say what you will about Colin and Christie, but they always make the right decisions and have consistently come in the top 3 all season long. I don't particularly like them, but wouldn't bet against them either.

Why do I get sucked in every time. I finally think that there going to kill off a team that I want to see gone, and they save them again. I was feeling sorry for Christie before tonight.
Gotta give it to the moms and Chip and Kim. Their gonna ride it until the end.

Watching Colin and Christie implode last night was wonderful. I know I'm going to hell for enjoying it so much, but I'll happily burn for all eternity. When Colin yelled, "My ox is broken!" I almost wet my pants.
However, all my fun ended when Phil told them it was a non-elimination round. WTF? These two deserve to be gone for all the nasty things they've said to the locals, the other contestants and each other. My only hope is that, with so much pressure on them, they continue their implosion next week on the two-hour finale.

A little more than 24 hours to go. So who you picking?
I want the moms to win, but I am picking Chip and Kim. Colin and Chrisite seem to be imploding by the second and the models just don't seem to have "something". As I have said before, as long as Colin and Christie don't win, I should be satisfied.

I'm still voting for Chip and Kim, they're rad, and seem like nice folks.
Here's the thing about the head-shaving incident: Models could've either shaved their heas, or not, and yet, either way, it makes for fucking awesome television, it could've been funny and ironic, or funny and so fitting. it was win-win.

It would be nice to see Chip & Kim win it, although I think Colin & Christie will do it - although they are dysfunctional, they are the strongest team.
Imagine what would happen if they started working together cohesively?

Well, first of all, congratulations to Chip & Kim - the nice guys won!
Anyhow, my thoughts on the show:- - Wasnt that comeback in the first leg by Colin/Christie just amazing? When I saw that I almost wished they won the million dollars, they were truly amazing. - Who didnt forsee problems with baggage when they spent so much time subtely pointing out they were packing it up? - Who was getting really annoyed with the constant god talk from Brandon? - Who thinks Brandon is going to get dumped soon as his girlfreind isnt nearly as 'pure' as he is? Daval

Well, if anyone didn't see it this morning, on the CBS Morning Show they had the major players all on. We got to meet the "Bowling Dads" and Chip and Kim got their check. And in the mode of all reality couples must apparently now follow, Colin proposed to Christie on live TV. Of course she accepted (a life of continued verbal abuse imo).
I was satisfied with the results, and although I dislike Colin, they were the most dominant participants. I am half disappointed that in a sense the worst remaining team got an advantage becuase they were so late in the competitions. Who'da thunk it would work out to their advantage to be so slow. All I know is that AR6 starts soon. Not much down time. Now that's how you do a reality show.

Loved to see my hometown and one of my most frequented ski hills on the show. It was interesting to know how long the taxi rides and all that were and how long it would actually take snow-shoe up the mountain. That would of been a killer climb if they actually started where it looked like they did cause they ended up at the gates to one serious extrem ski area that's near the top of the mountain.

Whoohoo! Yay for Chip and Kim! I would have been happy with them, or the models winning.
But the best part, the very BEST part...was the look of failure in Colin's eyes when they came in second. Goddamn, that was the most satisfying thing EVER. Shows cockbites don't always get what they want. HA! bastard.

Nah, not too geeky And yeah, I know with Survivor they hype the new season like crazy during their season finale episode. Weird.
I've read so many conflicting things on when the new show premiers. This Saturday, October 2nd, not until the beginning of November... Stupid CBS needs to get it together and figure out when the show is really airing!

I just was reading in the newspaper (go figure) that they had planned to start Saturday October 2nd, but then realized that this is a ratings winner, and they didn't want to banish it to Saturday nights. They appear to be holding off on the premier of AR6 until they can find a weekday slot.

First, when they left the Calgary airport they got into a local Calgary Cab (Advance Cab Company), however when they arrived at the base of SSV, they were in a Cab from Banff Taxi (you could see the phone number on the rear fender). A cab ride from Calgary airport to SSV would be about 2 hours and would probably run the meter up to just over $100. I know from experience that Calgary to Nakiska is $45. So my question is, did they take a cab the whole way or was there an 'edited out' bus ride in the middle? Not because of the cost, a hundred bux isn't that much, just where did they change cabs? Secondly. They didn't really walk that far. If you refer to my diagram below, you can see that they only walked a short distance from the top of the Angel Express Chair to the top of the Continental Divide Chair. I have walked it myself and it takes about 30 minutes to get up and about 5 minutes to (walk/slide on your ass) down. <img src="http://telusplanet.net/public/markus_e/images/ssv.gif"> Anyway, I just thought it was interesting to see what really happens on this show, how I have to wonder what else they are not showing me when they are in places I am not so familiar with.

Ya I was thinking about all that stuff too. I noticed the different cab and wondered if they swtched in Banff or what. Thanks for pointing that out about the walk. I don't know why but I assumed that they got off the gondola and started the hike from the bottom of the Angel chair. But you're right, from the top of the chair it wouldn't be that bad. I thought it was really interesting like you said to see something you're familiar with, puts it in perspective how the editing alters what it's really like quite a bit.
