Coupling UK
OK...let's see...normally I don't go around praising or ranting about TV-shows or movies and stuff like it, but this show must be seen!
I cannot believe I have missed out on this TV-show until now. Coupling (the UK version not the american) I just watched the entire first season (only 6 or so episodes I think) in one sitting. And I plan to do the same with season 2. The show is absolutely brilliant I can't say enough good things about it. If you ever get the chance watch it, you'll not regret it. I haven't seen the american remake/spin-off of it so I can't compare the two, but the british show is a must-see. In my opinion, Coupling UK puts all other TV sitcoms to shame. They just aren't funny anymore! --jaded

I can only agree with you there M8
coupling seems to be the perfect mix between friends and Sex and the city .... the witty sextalk teamed with the friends like cast setup, topped with some very sexy female leads

The British version is definitly worth watching. Whenever I'm at my parents I have to get my fix of BBC America, they have some good shows over there. I have to agree with animosity that the US version was a disapointment. I found it vastly inferior. When you think about it, it's amazing the number of show ideas that we get from the British. Practically the whole TLC lineup seems to come from them.

I totally agree. I saw some episodes last year I on the PBS channel which broadcasts some BBC shows since I don't get BBC America. I rented it off Netflix but didn't have time to watch it so I saved a copy on hard drive. I totally forgot Netflix doesn't have a deadline for renting.

Actually, it's interesting that everyone on hear seems to really like the show because, at IMDB, people tend to either "love it," or "hate it." They either say it's better than anything on American TV or that it's worse than anything on American TV.
Go figure... I've seen some season 3 episodes and, believe it or not, the show gets a little less farcical and far more clever! |

I'll have to see the American version and compare the two. It would be a shame if the American version wasn't on par with the UK one I think. So many people would be missing out!

I refused to watch the American version, because i knew "we" would fuck it up :/
UK version was great though.. i've seen every episode (through season 3) and can't wait to see more. I also recommend The Office (another BBC sitcom). I rented season 1, it was so good, that my roomate and I bought season 1 and 2. Highly entertaining..

Coupling is one of the funniest shows ever. The characters and situations are impecable... just all around great. And, Jeff is one of the greatest television characters ever.
I've never seen the American version, but from what I hear, I don't think I'll want to. |

Yeah Coupling is one of my favorites. I read that Richard Coyle (Jeff Murdock) isn't coming back for the fourth season. That sucks because Jeff is the funniest character on the show.

It's further interesting that everyone here has seen Coupling but hasn't even seen the American version. I can tell because, if anyone had, I'm sure they would have mentioned that it is already cancelled, after only four episodes. That's how good it was, I guess.
I just discovered this, after doing a little more research on the subject. I'm eager to see some episodes of american Coupling, just for comparison... |

It's one of my favorites, too...some of the funniest television I've ever seen.
I wanted to like the American version, but it was just awful. It was almost word-for-word, shot-for-shot a copy of the first UK episodes...but the delivery was flat, and the timing just didn't work. The bad part is that many Americans saw the U.S. version first, and will stay away from the UK version. ...can't wait for the next season! |
