American Idol

Am I the only one who is drawn to this stupid show. I don't watch much TV at home and do more of my TV watching at a buddy's house. Our gf's are into the show so of course while we are hangin' out, American Idol is running in the background keeping them entertained. But for some reason, today I got stuck to the screen. Is anyone else out there getting a kick out of this show?

mystmarimatt 02-05-2004 01:56 AM

I am...i like watching the people either suck, or be complete assholes, once the real part of the competition gets going, i lose interest

numist 02-05-2004 02:00 AM

Im drawn away from it, the drama is a turnoff, as are the assholes that rate the people, and some of the singers themselves. I much more appreciate it when they are in the finals and have positive input to give to the contestants. Any other time, its just not worth watching...

illesturban 02-05-2004 02:24 AM

there is nothing stupid about American Idol! This is one of my favorite shows man! Has been since day one of season one; I'm hooked. If I were Bobby Brown this would be my crack cocaine. But yeah I never ever miss any episode; can't wait 'til next week's episode.

But is anybody else sick of seeing Clay Aiken's ass everywhere? I'm tired of it; he needs to rest for a week or so.

hulk 02-05-2004 02:58 AM

Ick. Idol. They did an Australian series, and it was stereotypical reality TV. Now Channel 10, one of the locals, has started showing your series. They seem to think that the youth of Australia has an obsession with being American, considering the amount of crap that reaches our shores.
The judges are ass. And then there's the idiots who _must_ have been paid to make a fool of themselves. I can not think of anyone who could be so deluded.

btw, this is not an attack on America, just their crappy TV!

Kostya 02-05-2004 04:49 AM

A pox on Paula Abdul and that Randy guy and that Simon guy!

Why, why do you come to our crappy little island and make it worse?

Please put something good on instead of making us watch a bunch of losers lose, and then some half wits lose, and then some half talent win and get a career over actual legitimate artists.

gilada 02-05-2004 08:07 AM

Eh, I only watch for the crash and burns. Nothing like public humiliation to make me feel better about myself.

ShaniFaye 02-05-2004 08:12 AM

I just love how these people cry and moan and complain that Simon was SOOOOOOOOOO mean to them. Get real, like they didnt KNOW that was gonna happen?

My favorite part is now over and I probably wont watch it again until the last 2 or 3 shows.

on a side note...I was disappointed to see "scooter" girl get the boot, I liked her, although every time they said scooter girl I got images in my head of rollergirl from Boogie Nights

Confederate 02-05-2004 08:23 AM

The only episode that i may even consider watching is the rejects episode, and that's only if i'm told about it, i wont seek it out

Kadath 02-05-2004 08:46 AM

A friend was over and wanted to watch an episode, so I agreed. It was sort of amusing to see people who really sucked at singing, but it got old quickly. As I was flipping last night I saw that the midget got the boot, which makes me happy, as she wasn't that good and I felt she only got the nod because she was different.

illesturban 02-05-2004 01:48 PM

Scooter Girl, or as my friend calls her, "Beetle Bitch" NEEDED to go. I can't stand her; she was horrible and annoying on top of that.

Here are the people I am going for so far:

http://www.idolonfox.com/contestants...ex_marquel.jpg
Marque

he was on Disney's The New Mickey Mouse Club along with pretty much every pop star today and played Simba in Lion King on Broadway. Which is why I think he might get axed. I don't know if Fox an'em know about him having such a huge resume; he's trained in all kinds of dancing too. At least in previous years, you couldn't be on the show if you had ANY kind of professional work. Maybe they changed their rules, because they HAVE to know about all he's done. Anyways, he's one of my top faves along with Amy.

I always find it fun to watch the people who think that they're good, but they simply have no talent at all.

moonstrucksoul 02-06-2004 11:31 AM

i watch the beginning, to see all he crazy people, and some of the horrible singing, then the show loses all its luster.

02-06-2004 02:35 PM

Leah Labelle is from my state (WA).

I've been watching it, but the last one before they cut it down to 32 really sucked. They were not with it when they had to create and sing their own song. Most of them forgot the lyrics.

And, I absolutely love the Frank Sinatra voice of John Stevens http://www.idolonfox.com/contestants...ndex_johns.jpg
He'd do well on Broadway or impersonation, really.

Isn't the midget still in the contest? Is it Kara Master? I know she made it to the 32, but I sure haven't seen anything specific of her yet..........

synic213 02-06-2004 03:58 PM

I love the beginning and the end of each season, but the middle gets really boring and I stop watching. It's just not interesting to see semi-telented singers, whom you don't care about in the first place, get sent home. You'd think the creators would have fingered this out by now and changed the format a little. Oh well, I'm sure I'll start watching again toward the end.

I think she was cut on the last show.

sexymama 02-06-2004 05:50 PM

I enjoy watching the show with my daughters. Maybe I should be embarrassed, but the two shows I watch each week are Survivor and American Idol. So far I like: Erskine, Amy Adams, and John Peter.

i watch the beginning of the season just to see the hopefulls make asses of themselves.

these fools know they suck...yet they try out anyways, get humiliated and then cry when simon tells them the truth. best show ever!

Xiangsu 02-07-2004 09:31 AM

How many times do you think Simon has told a contestant they are the worst singer ever?

jasonresno 02-07-2004 10:22 AM

I love watching this show, I probably just enjoy seeing regular people go out there and try. Fun.

All I know is that some of the insults are obviously scripted. When he gets the opportunity to respond to something personally it's apparent, but you can see him looking down at his packet of general insults right before he dishes the dirt all the time. I mean it's still hilarious and stuff so it's all good. :p

It's funny when Simon makes fun of the contestants. Everything that he says is pretty much true and he says it without holding anything back. The sad part is that the singers don't even realize that they are that bad.

During the auditions, there was one girl I saw that was bitching and complaining so much. Saying stuff like how American Idol is going to suck now that she is eliminated :D. Some of the people on there are really stupid..

fuzzix 02-11-2004 05:22 AM

I can't stand American Idol, and for some reason they're airing it in Australia, as if Australian Idol wasn't bad enough! It'd be pretty cool though, if they took out all the acapellas and just kept the conflict ;)

EbolaVirus 02-11-2004 11:38 AM

I can't believe they cut the midget!

gremlinx8 02-11-2004 12:19 PM

I watched the entire first season, but for the second and third all I've watched are the auditions, because those are by far the best episodes of the series.

BigDonkey2 02-11-2004 01:35 PM

the best part of american idol are the tryouts

thebigk 02-16-2004 09:47 AM

I usually love the tryouts, but this year I just couldn't wait for them to be over and the "real" singing to start. Too many obviously planted people, and knowing that they've already passed at least one level of tryouts to get to the judges makes it all seem too obviously fake.

Sensei 02-18-2004 02:21 PM

I logged on to check what everyone thought of the [horrid] performances on Tuesday and then I realized that apparently no one cares anymore. For what it's worth, I think Marisa and Emily had the two best performances of the night. However, I want Camile to move on because

1) She had the third best performance
2) Her audition was really good since she demonstrated her talents by performing hip-hop; she will do more hip-hop in the future
3) She's really frickin' cute

Plan9Senior 02-18-2004 03:11 PM

I felt like I was watching a karaoke showdown on last nights episode. Not one of them were good singers and I honestly see better talent at the bar during karaoke night.

My immediate thoughts after the show was over was, how dissapointing for the members of the first group since it was so full of talent. I am sure it is eating them up knowing that two of the subpar contestants from last nights episode will be moving to the next round while they have to go home.

Sleepyjack 02-19-2004 10:38 AM

Given that this is now in it's 3rd installment (i think?), i wonder how much the show can actually change in terms of the talent pool. Because it was only a short while ago that they had another show (wasn't it?), and then there's a whole batch of other people who are good for the next series? Where are the other really good people who just missed out alst time?

Logically, you'd imagine that a lot of people who made it to the top 20ish in the previous installments could easily make it to the next ones. So i wonder why there aren't many double ups?
I also wonder how talent can seemingly spawn like its made out to be? (i know not everyone who's good signs up, but you'd imagine 90%+ would?)

Although i don't really watch the show, so i don't know, but was curious about the point i am making now :)

same for any talent show, although the main ones, nowadys, are singing and dancing type?

JohnnyRock 02-19-2004 02:08 PM

those two that made it from last night are good as done...they sucked!!

Batman976 03-16-2004 06:36 PM

So I've been watching this tonight. Enjoying it enough, but I just don't understand why Simon likes John Stevens so much. I gotta say, I almost always agree with what Simon says, even if he is a little harsh about it. But every time this guy sings, I just don't feel anything. Tonight's theme was soul music, and the song he sang was nowhere near what my definition of soul music is.

Obviously he's not as comfortable singing songs like Latoya, but even in his own genre his voice doesn't do a lot for me. On top of that, he seemed terrifed to be on stage tonight, and I'm pretty sure he forgot some of his words at the beginning of the song. These are all the things Simon would normally point out in a heartbeat. Why does he like this kid so damn much? How is he in the top 12?

warrrreagl 01-19-2005 05:31 AM

I'm reviving this thread for the new season.

1) I saw Seacrest on a talk show where he explained about the obviously bad singers getting through to the judges. The initial screeners purposefully pick some bad singers because it makes good TV. However, they only select the bad singers who aren't trying to be bad just to get on TV; those are easy to weed out. He said they go for bad singers who honestly believe they're good. This means that these poor misguided folks actually believe they're appearing in front of Randy, Paula, and Simon because they're good; they don't realize they're comic relief. That makes it a little sad for me.

2) I don't know how the rest of the celebrity judges will pan out, but Mark McGrath was pretty damned good.

3) Whatever happened to Dunkleman? I'm sure he must have fired his moronic agent (whoever he was) and is probably an alcoholic somewhere.

4) Whatever happened to the American Juniors? Did they ever do anything?

5) This season's show seems to be focusing on a couple of important points in an attempt to boost ratings. First, they're letting average male singers pass through to Hollywood because they're afraid the ratings might suffer if it's an all-diva finale again. Second, only one Southern city is represented (New Orleans). The final two performers in each of the previous three seasons have all been from Dixie, so maybe they believe America is tired of watching Southerners who can out-sing everybody else.

Lockjaw 01-19-2005 05:43 AM

Well Southerners CAN out sing everybody else.

I watched every episode of this show prior to this season and frankly...it's just old. Didn't watch it last night at all and I'm debating whether or not I'll be bothering to watch it at all this season. I might start when the finals get going but the joke of "Hey that guy can't sing! hahaha!" It's old and it's over. Please stop.

wolf 01-19-2005 05:51 AM

The last chick to go on, Mary was the best. That just rocked. Can we say mental patient? Then to sing to the camera afterwards even better. How about the supposed Toni Braxton family member.... dude wtf!

warrrreagl 01-19-2005 07:44 AM

And his soon-to-be coming 8 platinum albums! Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, I guess. Oh, yeah, he was a guy. Right. Nudge nudge wink wink say no more.

And I really got a kick out of the rock singer breaking up with his band. How stupid do they think we are? When Seacrest walked into their rehearsal supposedly "unannounced," the camera was already inside the room filming Seacrest walk in. Do they expect us to believe nobody in the band noticed the camera crew standing with them in the room while they rehearsed? Or do they expect us to believe they NOTICED the camera crew but didn't ask what they were doing there?

f6twister 01-19-2005 08:09 AM

It is pretty sad that the bad ones they put on TV really don't know that they are not in tune with anything but a fart. If they had ever taken the time to listed to what the real note in tune sounded like, then listed to what they sang, they would know why ears bleed around them.

What I never understood.....why is it that once the truth comes out that someone can't sing, suddenly the judges are mean, washed up and never did anything besides produce a couple albums (Simon, Paula, Randy)? Yup, it's everyone elses fault that you can't sing. Grow up and get over it!

Seething 01-19-2005 08:55 AM

I don't normally watch the show. Well, I've never watched a full episode and never made it a point to watch it. That aside, my friends came over last night, and with nothing better to do, we made a half-assed drinking game out of it. Then at the end of the show, the very last girl to come on was from our home town, Manassas. Now we just looked at each other and said, "Of course she's gonna suck, she's from our shithole town." And lo and behold, not only was she one of the worst singers Simon ever heard, but she's a nutjob as well. Way to represent my hometown, Mary Roach....

Sensei 01-19-2005 11:56 AM

There's a column on MSNBC on whether many of these contestants are delusional or paid actors. After all, they are so gawdawful that it's hard to believe so many geniuenly think that they are talented. I hate to admit that watching people make a fool of themselves entertains me but it does. Another day of "dressing in the dark" and crying after forgetting your lines is on tonight!

wolf 01-19-2005 01:02 PM

The dressing in the dark bit was hysterical... man was she bad and fat!

Dude mary was from your home town!? Do you know her!!! What beauty school is she going to? I want to make sure I don't go near there. Was it me or was she kinda like 'Carrie'. "They're all gonna laugh at you!"

Seething 01-19-2005 02:55 PM

I thank God I don't know her... Manassas isn't a small town, around 5,000 or something, so you can live here for years and not know half the people that live here. There are a lot of beauty schools and small colleges here, so I have no clue which one she goes to. So if you're ever in the Northern VA/DC Metro area, stay away from Manassas. Sadly enough, she's nowhere near the craziest person here. (Remember Lorena Bobbit? That happened here...)

EDIT: Apparently one of my friends got a BJ from her a while ago. I just looked at him with the most "WTF" face I could make.

K-Wise 01-19-2005 03:05 PM

Hmm you mean it already started up again? Wow well I guess I'll have to check it out. I never watched the first season and only started watching the second when it came down to the final 3...after that by the next season I was hooked I watched it every day. Being a vocalist myself I guess I got drawn into it. I think it's so funny how at the beginning of the show you're rooting for them then by the end you hate their guts like Jasmine and John the redhead from last season. It almost enfuriated me that they were still there for so long. To be honest last year I was rooting for George above everyone else then Jennifer. Is that sad? I guess I'll have to keep an eye out for the next time it's on then if it started already. Did anyone else notice that last years wildcard special had people on there who were BETTER singers than some of the people who ACTUALLY made it to the competition?

Asta!!

C_man 01-19-2005 03:35 PM

The fact that some of thse horrible sings truly believe that they are gifted reminds me of the show "WB superstar" where they TRIED to find the worst singers. Not only would they kick out the actually talented singers(in a rather rude, mean why like this show) but they would hype up the bad singers just to reinforce their delusion that they were good singers. God I loved that show.

drakers 01-20-2005 07:34 AM

It is those stupid people that can't sing but they are serious as can be because their friends and family think they can sing. That is why the music industry is so messed up people like Britney Spears is considered a good sing and that is just wrong.

heccubusiv 01-20-2005 09:07 PM

its funny and sad. Some people have awful fans because their friends tell them they sound good and they are pretty tone deaf. I am pretty sure i would sound that bad singing or even worse but i know my limations, and know that if i don't win at something i am not good at not to freak out and cry. Its a shame to see a grown man cry on tv because he got cut, and not with a sword

I don't know anyone in or out of the industry that's ever accused Britney Spears of being a good singer. Her voice is not why she's successful. I'm always amazed at how badly a lot of people misunderstand the entertainment industry.

If the only people who were successful were always the most talented performers, we'd all be listening to classical and jazz.

drakers 01-21-2005 07:33 PM

I wish my wife would have auditioned because she would have had a chance to make to at least round 2. She sang "At Last" at our wedding reception for our first dance. Wow it was great!!

ShaniFaye 01-22-2005 05:49 AM

Malou 01-22-2005 04:42 PM

I find that the auditioning part to be the best cause its so freaking funny and entertaining

warrrreagl 01-27-2005 06:24 AM

All right, in Tuesday's episode who saw the guy from Red Bay, Alabama? And more importantly, who UNDERSTOOD the guy from Red Bay, Alabama?

I'm both happy and dismayed to report that I understood every single thing he said. "Happy" because it's fun to understand a foreign laguage that other people have trouble with, and "dismayed" because of the fact that I hear so damn many people in Alabama who talk that way, which is what allows me to understand it.

For those of you from outside of the South, imagine the guy on the intercom at McDonald's, the students in your classes, the cashier at the grocery store, and practically everybody else you encounter during the day talking gibberish at you like that. THAT'S what it's like, every day, all day, everywhere...

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - One of the contestants on the new season of "American Idol" was in jail when his bizarre performance aired Tuesday night.

Leroy Wells' audition for the Fox television talent competition was taped last summer in New Orleans. He bounced onstage while talking about sandblasting paint for a living at a shipyard near his home near Mobile.

"American Idol" judge Randy Jackson told Wells: "Dog, you ain't right for this, man, but listen, we love you."

A stunned Simon Cowell called the performance "ridiculous."

Wells, 22, of Grand Bay, was arrested Jan. 5 on charges of assault and firing a weapon. Jail records show he's also awaiting trial on drug charges and has pleaded guilty to marijuana possession in 2004 and disorderly conduct in June 2003.
Well, another Alabama boy bites the dust. Can't say I'm surprised.......
Don't get me wrong, I love this state. But geez......

Definitely not the kind of voice for American Idol, but she was awesome (if painful). How about Clay Jr.?

ShaniFaye 02-02-2005 04:22 AM

No, her voice wanst "american idol" BUT it takes talent to be able to sing opera so I cant wait to see how she handles other genre's of music.

Clay Jr was ok, personally I think they will milk the trach story, but I liked the "farm boy" better than him.

That first girl up, Sue I think, the overweight girl....I was disappointed they didnt let her go....she did that song amazingly well...its sad the ONLY reason she didnt make it was because she was bigger. Hell look at Rueben, he was fucking HUGE

K-Wise 02-02-2005 06:14 AM

I'm just waiting to see if those guys can actually deliver when it comes time to have to sing behind music and when they don't get a choice of what style either. It kinda pisses me off a little bit because basically to win the competition you have to be a soul/R&B singer...I'da thought it would have been painfully obvious by now...Why even let people like goth girl and Clay Jr in in the first place? Thats all America is gonna vote for. They might as well just turn away everyone else who isn't a gospel, soul, r&B singer. It pisses me off how close minded the show really is. Because American Idols aren't always Mariah Careys and Whitney Houstons...They're Kurt Kobains, Eddie Vedders, John Lennons, Josh Grobans, Jim Croces, Freddie Mercury's, Jimi Hendrix's, etc.

The show is so inexclusive...A scooter girl could never be American Idol, nor can the Goth girl, or more than likely not even mr. Clay Jr if ya sing theatre at all they may as well hand you a need not apply sign. Whens the last time they had a rocker on the show? A REAL rocker? They need a real competition. Star Search was more exclusive...ya did have yer Britneys on the show (literally) but they let through a lot more than just one kind of artist...Eh pff!

Asta!!

ShaniFaye 02-02-2005 06:20 AM

well they let that heavy metal guy in....wonder how long he'll last?

Prolly hollywood and no further...unless they feel he'll develop a small fan base in the final competition. Never got to see that one was he good? What did he sing? Did he sing it well?

Asta!!

ShaniFaye 02-02-2005 06:37 AM

He sang an Aerosmith song....I dont remember which "power ballad" it was...his name is Constantine.....he wasnt totally bad....just done know how far he'll actually get

i'm with you - it'd be nice if they'd let folks through who could sing regardless of how they looked... but you know when they say "American Idol material", that's what they mean - a young, attractive person who hopefully can sing a little. that's what pop music is all about, too, and that's why that type will always win when it comes to the call-in voting. incidentally, that's also why i lose interest significantly as the show progresses towards the final - most of the really interesting folks are weeded out by then.

speaking of age... how about that guy (from last week?) that tried to say he was 28 when he was in his 40s? i guess he figured he'd try to at least make himself fit that part of the AI mold.

ShaniFaye 02-02-2005 07:21 AM

grendel she was the one that sang I could have danced all nite...from my fair lady....and Im sorry but Rueben was NOT "idol" material in my opinion,(lol neither was red headed John from last season for that matter) they let him and his bigness in...they should have let her

grendel 02-02-2005 07:36 AM

i agree that reuben, clay and john were all kinda odd choices for the whole AI image. i'm still a little surprised that those three went as far as they did.

not that i'm a fan of any of them, mind you.

i remember the girl you're talking about, and i didn't think she sang the song all that well, honestly. but i agree that even if she had sung the song better than audrey herself, there's no way they would have let her through to the next round. wasn't she the one that made the barbie doll comment? i agree that that's exactly what they're looking for, at least when it comes to female singers.

i don't want to suggest necessarily that the male singers are judged differently, but when you look at the reuben, clay and john factor...

Who's John?

ShaniFaye 02-02-2005 08:07 AM

The red headed guy who made it so far last season even though basically all he could sing was frank sinatra kind of stuff....he was voted off the week before "rat pack" week

ShaniFaye 02-02-2005 05:18 PM

ok....what did we think of fishnet girl?

jaded 02-02-2005 06:46 PM

this is the first season i watched the first round auditions, and i am hooked. i agree some of the people that made it to hollywood are not that great, but most are pretty good, some really impressive. so twice a week, i tune in faithfully.

K-Wise 02-02-2005 07:18 PM

Next week is the second round in Hollywood.

See they let through John Stevens who sung Crooner stuff pretty well and swinger stuff pretty well but even at that he wasn't that great. But then comes time for everyone to sing a different style and those who had to sing in the style John prefers DON'T sing that way they sing the same songs he would sing but they sing them like they would an R&B song or a gospel song and they of course still sound Grrrrrreat! But John can't do this when the roles are reversed so he sounds terrible. It's not really all that fair to be honest. I'd say they should have never let him in and I'm probably right. Because even though he may have developed a following and may have people knocking on his door now due to the exposure he got he also signed a contract before he went on that says he can't sing for anybody else.

Thats what they did to the Scooter Girl last year. She got offered a chance to be the spokesperson for Razor scooters for one and couldn't do it because she was bound by contract and also got offered a chance to sing I think.."Hair" on broadway as well but couldn't do that either because she was bound by contract. I mean what kind of bullshit is that? She's not good enough for American Idol so she can't be good enough for anyone else either? See thats why I think they shouldn't even try out at all. They aren't gonna win but they think they're gonna get exposure on the show which they do but when they don't win they still can't do anything because they won't let them. At least not for a while. Poor people have no idea what they get themselves into.

Asta!!

Fishnet girl had a huge voice, and I agree with the judges about being surprised at the voice that came out of her. But I was not that crazy about her. Now her appearance, that's a different discussion.

And the Freddy Mercury wanabee.......I was not very impressed.

K-Wise 02-02-2005 07:31 PM

^ I wasn't paying attention to that part they did NOT let him through right?

Asta!!

grendel 02-02-2005 07:51 PM

i can't say for certain, but i think they did let the freddie guy through, although i don't know why. they kept saying how if they closed their eyes, they'd swear they were listening to freddie. i didn't feel that way at all.

as for fishnet girl, i didn't like her outfit, but thought her voice was decent.

K-Wise 02-02-2005 08:11 PM

WHAT?!! That guy was terrible! He didn't sound like Freddie at all! No one sounds like Freddie! I could sing Freddie better than that guy.

Asta!!

K-Wise 02-02-2005 10:12 PM

Ya know am I the only one that noticed that they let the fishnet girl in with 2 no 2 yes but yet sent the other guy who went there with his brother away again also with 2 no and 2 yes? What kinda bullshit is that? That poor guy actually could sing rather well. Certainly better than that farmer guy they let through the other day. He was better than fishnet girl too. Poor guy :(.

Asta!!

ShaniFaye 02-03-2005 04:09 AM

yes they let him in K-wise.....although I dont know why. When he got done, Dave was like "Whoa Freddie dont roll over too far"

for Paula to say she could close her eyes and hear Freddie was blasphame!!!!!!

K-Wise 02-03-2005 04:18 AM

YES!!

I dunno where the hell her ears went! I bet she doesn't even listen to Queen :hmm:

Asta!!

trache 02-03-2005 06:48 AM

I was watching TV early yesterday evening and Entertainment Tonight was airing a segment regarding the contestants that are in the running for this season of American Idol. I have never held interest in this show until now.

Why? There is a young man who passed the first round of judging who had a tracheostomy. His has healed over, like mine. If he doesn't go far in the contest, at least they have brought some awareness to the medical procedure.

ShaniFaye 02-03-2005 06:58 AM

he could actually sing very well too...I think he deserved to pass the first round :)

grendel 02-03-2005 07:04 AM

about the 2 and 2, K-Wise... the one that got in on 2 and 2 included simon as one of the Yes votes. the one that didn't get in on the 2 and 2 included simon as one of the No votes. maybe his vote counts just a little bit more than the rest - at least that was my guess.

I thought he did sound like Freddie Mercury. I don't think he could fool anybody into believing he'd found some lost Freddie Mercury tapes, but he did sound like him enough to notice.

ShaniFaye 02-03-2005 08:38 AM

its ok warrrreagl, we still love you :icare:

K-Wise 02-03-2005 06:38 PM

I got a feeling if makes it to the voting show..big if...he'll prolly try and sing that song with the music behind him and everything. Then we'll see how good he does. He's gotta be able to sing more than just We Are The Champions though if he wants to go very far.

Asta!!

Fremen 02-03-2005 11:28 PM

I just have to interject with this...
They didn't let poor Audrey's voice stay in "My Fair Lady" singing "I Could Have Danced All Night".

Not only does My Fair Lady feature an involving story with compelling characters, but there's not a dud to be found on the roster of more than a dozen songs, the best-known of which, "I Could Have Danced All Night," is familiar to almost everyone (even those who haven't seen the movie). Holloway and Harrison do their own singing. (Harrison, who insisted on performing his numbers live, wore a portable microphone in his tie.) Despite her best efforts, Hepburn lacked the necessary vocal range, so Marni Nixon was brought in to dub her songs. Hepburn's singing voice can still be heard during the parts of "Just You Wait" that are as much spoken as sung. Also dubbed was Jeremy Brett, who plays Eliza's suitor, Freddy Eynsford-Hill. Freddy's one song, "On the Street Where You Live," was performed by Bill Shirley.

Heh, I didn't even realise this is the same Jeremy Brett that goes on to play Sherlock Holmes.

Ok, sorry, carry on. ;)

grendel 02-04-2005 07:24 AM

i think i knew that about audrey, but forgot. thanks for the info :)

braindamage351 02-05-2005 10:22 PM

Remember the guy who did that sang "I Believe in a Thing Called Love"? He was easily one of the top 5 people to ever appear on American Idol, but they put him on the gag reel because of the goofyness of the song. He sang it PERFECTLY. More talent than pretty much everyone on that show.

K-Wise 02-06-2005 07:40 PM

^ AHAHAHA I loved that. Thats the problem...even Justin sound ridiculous when he sings that song. Thats the appeal of it haha...it's what they were going for..was a bad choice to audition for.

Asta!!

grendel 02-17-2005 12:50 PM

are we still watching? how about that girl that was all upset that she didn't get through to the final 24 that she pushed the wrong elevator button and got off on the wrong floor when she tried to leave... and then she yelled at all of the other contestants waiting to see if they had gotten through. said she was nice to all of the other contestants and didn't understand why she didn't make it - what do those things have to do with each other? it's not like the other contestants had voted her out, right? crazy...

jaded 02-17-2005 01:43 PM

am still watching, although some of my favorite or most memorable characters got voted off, e.g. the woman who pawned her wedding ring, the phantom of the opera girl...

K-Wise 02-20-2005 05:06 PM

I think the Mario guys is gonna go far. He's great. I did not care for his rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody though :|. But other than that the dude sings really great. I also like that other guy who said his father had no faith in him. He has a really great voice. He'd better go far too.

Constantine thought he was good as gone because the other rocker made it through...funny guy doesn't he know that 2 rockers battling it out is more entertaining than just 1 against the rest of the American Idol team. I'm interested to see what he's gonna bring to the table too. I'm not particularly crazy about his voice but it's good to see another rocker.

Asta!!

drakers 02-21-2005 12:20 AM

You gotta love the stupidity of the people who think they can sing and actually are willing to show their bad talent on national tv. I applaud because it makes for great entertainment of the "mentally incapable to realize they can't sing" type people.

ophelia783 02-21-2005 10:49 AM

American Idol, along with many other WB shows, are my crack! It's addictive whether it;s because you love it or hate it.
