Slam Ball... a guilty pleasure
It's fun to watch.. what can I say?
It's like a mix between basketball, hockey, and backyard fun. Assuming this grows in popularity, do you think it could ever achieve professional sport status? I don't think so... here are my reasons... Right now, it doesn't take skill to play. While it's fun to watch, at the end of the day, you realize any young guy who is reasonably fit can jump on a tampoline and dunk a ball. The risk of injury is crazy. You land funny ONE TIME and your whole ankle is gone. No more Slam Ball for you. It's too much of a copy of major sports that it will always lack the credibility to become one.

I do watch it occasionally when I am flipping around the various channels. The crazy dunks they make are pretty neat. As are some if the mid-air collisions they have.

The first time I watched the show pictures of the video game NBA Jam appeared in my head. The show looks like loads of fun and it was great to see the creators of the game out there on the field playing as well. However like Halx said, one bad landing and your history... Slamball might not go the way of the XFL but it will never reach mainstream like Baseball, Basketball or Football. Now if only BASEketball was a real sport
