Best recent Commercials
What commercial(s) stick out in your mind as being the best recently?
Funny or serious- funny are usually better. The various Lottery ticket commercials- one of a man eating a bowl of cereal and hears his name called on the radio as the big winner, and you watch his cereal bowl drop to the ground. The current black & white M&M commercial with Dorothy. The Honda one introducing their first robot- can't remember the name of it. Ah, the technology of the future is upon us. The infamous Mitzubishi one with "without you" song and the girl dancing in the passenger seat. Oh, I love the Vern Fonk ones because they are so cheesy and stupid, they are funny. Vern cracks me up- I just want to shake his hand on comment of his unique commerials. A touching one- at Christmas time, a Toys for Tots commercial. when the boy walks up to a Marine standing still, and asks if he knows Santa and can gives him a letter. The man never looks at him, but opens to take the toy, then as the boy walks away, the man looks at the toy and smiles. I can't quite remember all the details, but it is a sweet one. I have to think of more, I know I saw a couple last night. Last edited by :::OshnSoul:::; 01-22-2004 at 05:31 PM.. |

The guy wearing an Ohio State shirt making out with the girl wearing the Michigan shirt.
"Without sports, this wouldn't be disgusting." Greatest non-Sportscenter commercial ever.

yeah..i agree with the bud light 'real men of genious' ads. if you go to budlight.com you can go buy the cd with 20 of em on there.
but i think most of the funny commercials now have to be the beer commercials. anyone see the guiness commercials with the inventor who invents the bottle, bottle opener, and six pack? BRILLLIANT!

The Juicy Fruit commercial, with the guy disguised as the file cabinet, then another guy blending into the landscape, and finally the one in the water cooler. I almost laughed myself into a coronary the first time I saw it.

That Honda robot is years old. The technology of the past is upon us We saw it about six years ago in a movie about the lunar landing. Then we tried to imitate how it walked. One of my friends put on a really heavy bookbag and was able to imitate the walk perfectly. Then he took a piss in the shop room's floor when the teacher left

For us Canucks, there is a series of Amber Keith's Pale Ale beer commercials that are absolutely hilarious! That Novia Scotia lad makes me spit beer out my nose, which I'm sure he'd have a speech against!

Hair loss kinda motif (man with hair sitting next to picture of himself with less hair) Man1: Whenever I run, my hair goes with me. Man2: I used to swim with my cap on. Man3: I dont know. My tennis game just feels stronger. (a doctor and a balding man in a room) Doctor: You may be wondering how these men got their hair back. Well I've got good news! I like the Ohio State/Michigan one too, I had no idea what it was about the first time I watched it. When the punch line came out, I thought it was pure genius.

The Chevrolet commercial with a bunch of guys driving around in a truck and a guy in the back seat singing along to Shania Twain's(sp?) "I Feel Like A Woman". All the other guys have disgusted looks on their faces and the guys in the back sitting next to him are trying to get as far away from him as possible. Best. Commercial. Ever.

I just saw an Audi commercial for either the S4 or the A4. It shows the car in various powerslides in the desert. At the bottom of the screen, it says "professional driver on a closed course." Next clip, more powerslides, at the bottom "actually it's Dan (something)" next clip, "we hired him for this commercial," next clip "and now he won't give the car back" next clip still more powerslides, "please come home Dan", next clip, "your kids miss you", next clip, "your wife says you're in big trouble", next clip "if you see Dan, please call him on his cell phone (number)
Thats the general idea, its probably phrased a bit differently, as I've only seen it once. I busted up laughing when I saw it, though.

I'm a pretty big fan of the squirrel tag commercial out right now. I'm not sure exactly what they're advertising, but it's three guys chasing a squirrel, as if it were a sport.
Funny stuff. That, and I was always a big fan of Quizno's caveman campaign.

The commercials for the Ratchet and Clank 2 videogame are really funny. It shows kids trying out the various weapons of it. The magnetic gun thing is the coolest.
Most videogame commercials are really funny. Remember the old Crash Bandicoot ones? -Lasereth

AFN = no real commercials, although there ARE public service announcements. The military related ones always make me laugh from the bad choice of music-- 60s/70s songs as a background to anti-drug/anti-smoking commercials. My absolute favorite though, it was playing the last time I was in Ohio... on VH1, it's more of a staion identification thing than an actual commercial, but the one with the cats singing Karma Chameleon. Classic.

my vote for best funny goes to the geico commercial where the car swerves to avoid the squirrels, you hear it crash in the distance, and the squirls start hi-fiving each other. Hilarious!
Best overall is the European Honda Accord commercial called "Cog." Took 606 takes to get the sequence right, and there is NO trick photography or special effects. Awesome ad, probably the best I've ever seen. Here's a link to a downloadable mpeg: http://www.honda.co.uk/multimedia/index.html |

The Kia Sorento commercial where the narrator asks a bunch of questions like "how do you think we created a suv........" "how do you think we......?" Then shows the man with the clay model of the car and falls asleep standing up, with his head falling into the clay model and the narrator says "we worked our tails off, that's why."
