Futurama/Family Guy (seems to be a trend here) and Deadline, with Oliver Platt. I doubt anyone remembers it. It was on NBC about 2-3 years ago.

Family Guy

Yeah. Family Guy. Can't think of anything else :P Seinfeld too I guess.

I must be OLD.

h2ogo69 01-25-2004 12:21 PM

duckman was good

CinnamonGirl 01-26-2004 03:01 AM

Definitely Freaks & Geeks. And Buffy, although technically it wasn't cancelled, Sarah Michelle Gellar just decided she didn't want to do it anymore (well, apparently Joss Whedon was thinking the same thing, but I'd much rather blame SMG than Joss).

hehehe...and whoa, flashback on Welcome Freshman...I used to love that show.

What was the game show on MTV where there were three contestants that sat in these weird space age looking chairs, and had to answer music trivia? You could also play along online...that was a fun show.

The US version of Coupling was great...to bad the powers that be didn't give it a chance. B.t.w. the UK version of Coupling is/was even better.

gotta agree with this one, hilarious stuff. Also agree with Family Guy and Undeclared...but even better than Undeclared was Judd Apatow's first outing, Freaks & Geeks. On DVD this year!

FleaCircus 01-26-2004 06:15 PM

Definitely Freaks and Geeks, but I worked on the show, so I suppose I'm biased.

Here's a link to the DVD release info:

Upright Citizens Brigade. Anyone else a UCB fan?

viper11885 01-26-2004 11:19 PM

One show that I regret recording on VHS when it was on was the show Viper. It was shot here locally (BC) and I actually saw both the Viper and Defender driving on the street. Very cool. Hated that it is now gone and I don't have a single episode. Don't understand why there isn't a dvd set on it too.

Unhappily Ever After

The show itself wasn't that great, but Nikki Cox was fuckin hot.

opackfan 02-24-2004 01:17 PM

another vote for family guy and the critic, the lone gunmen was pretty good as well

EDIT: Holy crap, how could i forget MST3K

matteo101 02-24-2004 03:27 PM

Obviously family guy and futurama are a given, but also freaks and geeks and sienfeld come to mind.

JohnnyRoyale 02-24-2004 04:11 PM

FYI - for the non-cartoon shows, I think the TRIO network is showing some btter cancelled shows.

Speaking of which, "Once and Again", the sci-fi one with the guy who dies, then gets an android body. Real good one.

CBlend 02-24-2004 04:47 PM

Futurama

Futurama is at the top of my list - love the DVDs!

CinnamonGirl 02-25-2004 06:40 AM

wait a minute, why is that these are all cartoons?huh, maybe people do suck after all.

oh no, wait! sanford and son. whew. man, they could have rolled redd foxx's dead body out and it would still be funnier than every thing else that's been on tv since... put together.

without a doubt: FUTURAMA

gotta relive the hilarious moments thru the dvd now..

Master Fap 03-11-2004 08:10 PM

Family Guy, Futurama, and Rockos Modern Life.

They really need more cartoons that are more mature like these... mature in a sense that you wouldn't want your kids watching them (altohugh RML wasn't tooo bad, it still had some things that you wouldn't think appropriate for it being an old nickelodeon show)

Prince 03-11-2004 09:22 PM

It was a great show. Lance Henrikssen was awesome.

I hate these threads. As I read people's posts I find myself getting more and more pissed off as I remember each show I loved and how they got axed early.

This is easy. I like Family Guy, and Futurama. But my all-time favorite cancelled show is Sportsnight. I have the entire series on DVD. It won three Emmy's before it was cancelled. I have always set it had the absolute best writing of any show I've watched. It also had a great cast, Robert Gillaume (Benson!), Felicity Huffman who's on that Showtime series now, and the guy from Six Feet Under whose name escapes me just at the moment. Also William H. Macy was on the cast for a while. Amazing show.

"Anyone want to participate in the sport of kings?"
"We're gonna race horses?"
"No we're going to play poker."
"Poker's not the sport of kings."
"What is?"
"Racing horses."
"Then what's poker the sport of?"
"It's the sport of people who play poker."

And

"You should know that just because I'm looking at you while you're speaking, it doesn't necesarily mean that I'm actually listening to or caring about what you have to say. It's just something I do to be polite."

John Doe was the highlight of my fridays, therefore Fox decided to cancel it. I thought it was a refreshing show with a great plot... though I've always been a sucker for the "guy(s)/girl(s) with weird/special ability/abilities solves crimes / saves people"... you know the kind...
Kind of off topic, but I will list shows that I love that are on now and will no doubt get cancelled before their time:

Angel
Wonderfalls
Tru Calling

There are probably more, but I'm being optimistic :)

thespian86 04-03-2004 04:21 PM

Obviously the forementioned
Family Guy (although there is hope, they are making new episodes)

Futurama (also making new ones)

I can't believe no one has said these three?!?!?!

Wonder Years(they finished it after it wasn't picked up for another year.)
My So Called Life
Aqua Teen Hunger Force
Family Guy
Married with Children
The Tick
Ren & Stimpy (although the few that were shown on Spike TV, just didn't make sense for it being the first network for men. Too many I'm the pitcher you're the catcher overtones.)

Futurama
Freaks and Geeks

God, the people in charge of Fox are assholes

pan6467 08-15-2004 07:57 PM

Fuckin Fox never gave Married With Children the proper ending, yes it was time for the show to go but they needed a proper ending.

Wings was hilarious and deserved another year or 2 or at least a cheesy reunion show.

Third Rock From the Sun was ingenious and original and had one of the best casts ever.

And Finally quite possibly my favorite '80's show NIGHT COURT...... this is definately a show that noone respected but was hilarious as Hell and had an awesome cast. It had a great run even if the idiots at NBC and the viewers didn't realize it.

Hell Thursday nights in the 80's on NBC were fan-fucking-tastic, (Cosby, Family Ties, Cheers, Night Court/Wings, Hill Street Blues/LA Law), we may never see a blockbuster night like that again on TV.

Konichiwaneko 08-20-2004 03:59 PM

Firefly

Touching Evil

Pellaz 08-20-2004 04:11 PM

Just for the record, Aqua Teen Hunger Force isn't cancelled to the best of my knowledge. I'm thinking the "Tune in for the last episode of ATHF this Sunday. Then do it again every Sunday." and "ATHF is so TOTALY canceled" ad campaigns sparked this...

My votes definately go to Farscape and Firefly. They both deserved to respectively finish up and tell the whole story more than any show I can think of, and both were screwed over by their networks in dirty and underhanded ways.

maleficent 08-21-2004 05:28 PM

Gotta go with Freaks and Geeks - -been watching the DVDs this weekend, what an awesome soundtrack

And Sports Night, though the laugh track from season one drives me nuts- I don't remember that from the series but there it is plain as day on the DVDs

Confederate 08-21-2004 05:38 PM

Once and Again

Willravel 08-25-2004 11:08 PM

I'm really sad to see that someone enjoyed fastlane. Oh well, to each they're own. Family Guy is returning with new episodes, and if Futurama sees similar DVD sales, it has a chance as well. I thought Babylon 5 kinda ruined itself during season 5. I miss Zathros! I also miss: Airwolf, Automan (sidekick was Curser, got the points), The Adventures of Briscow County Jr. (the cowboy Bruce Cambell series), Beyond 2000 (the original series, not the new one), Deep Space Nine, Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman (just kidding), Green Hornet, The Mantis, Mork and Mindy, NOW AND AGAIN (probably my favorite), the Pretender, and Wild On! with Brooke Burke.
Oh, before I forget, thank you Confederate for the hytpnotoad. Now I can't stop reading your post.

the_beanster 09-12-2004 10:44 AM

Here goes,

Family Guy
Mystery Science Theater 3000
Freaks and Geeks
Quantum Leap

Paradise Lost 09-12-2004 11:09 AM

The only two shows I'm really sad about that ever got cancelled were the Critic and
Dilbert, (Maybe Duckman). Just freakin awesome cartoons that never had a chance in a
world of freakin bad cartoons.

Willravel 09-12-2004 11:49 AM
