I watched a workprint version of the film and was wondering if they bleep out her name when others say it(i think only Vivica and Lucy say it) or does Quentin only leave us with Black Mamba and "The Bride"

Btw if u enjoyed the anime make sure you watch KITE and Mezzo Forte as it is very similar in style

Her name is bleeped out only once. From then on, she's only referred to as Black Mamba or The Bride.

Bleeped twice from vivica, once from lucy, and once around a scene with buck, iirc. Beyond that, it's mostly black mamba.

First off, the movie was great. Everything about it was great.

Her name is bleeped out to keep on par with older kung-fu flicks. The main character/warrior's name is always kept secret until the final "showdown" when he/she exacts revenge. Then again, he may never reveal her name, like the mystery to what was inside the briefcase in Pulp Fiction.

Tarantino made one hell of a film, and if you didn't enjoy it... there's no reason to bash it. It's just obviously not your kind of film.

I watched it again last night on the Teletube and have a question:

Wouldn't "Black Mamba" have questions as to where her child is as soon as she wakes up from the comma? She thinks the child is dead, but what about the huge scar on her chest (I'm assuming she has one from when the baby was removed)?

Anyone understand what I'm saying?

Rookie mistake there. This is the kind of question that movies like this avoid, because they don't really matter. If however you need some rationale, I propose one of the following.

1. She's probably covered with scars, and if the baby had died, they would of had to remove it through surgery.

2. Do you really think she's anything approaching what would be called 'sanity'?

3. I doubt it's a question that after reaching your initial conclusions about, you'd be eager to dwell on. Just like any normal woman, I'd say.

if splitting it up is a plan to get more money out of the viewers, part of me says its a good idea, not for the community but for the whole idea of making more money off the movie n stuff, and part of me says no its not a good idea, if your going to take one movie and split it into three, they shoulda done a better job with Kill Bill, granted it was an ok flick, but i really think i could go without seeing the second one. unlike lord of the rings, where before you saw it you knew there was 3 parts to it, and alking out of the theater your saying "oh man i definetly have to see part 2 now" know what i mean?

yea, i dont know what im tlakin about anymore, my fingers have minds of there own sometimes, ramblin ramblin on and on and on

1. Good point. But if the baby had survived, they would have also removed it through surgery.

2. Maybe. But she seems to be able to think clearly.

3. Ummm, no! It's her kid. She looked like she was well into her pregnancy when she was almost killed, so it would seem that she would have developed a bond with her child in that time. If no one actually told her it was dead, why would she assume it? And why wouldn't she question any of her victims about it... especially "Buck who likes to Fuck?" He did work at the hostpital after all.

And I don't need any rationale, but I do think Tarantino should have offered some.

I want to know how a crippled women killed to men in a hospital and got away. And how she got money for plane tickets, a passport, and then carried her sword right next to her on a plane. To me that was just sloppy. Did she travel Air Bushido?

I'm sure Quentin thought of that, but prolly didnt give a shit as explaining all that crap would make the movie drag along. She used to be a 'Deadly Viper Assassin' so im sure some douchebag trucker and Buck wouldnt be a problem for some badass lady like herself

About the tickets, who said she needed money for that? She is a crazy assassin. And on the plane, there were more people with swords by their seats. I dont think it takes anything away from the awesomeness of the film.

Definately an awesome movie. So far one of my favorites of the year ranking up there with Pirates of the Carribean. I'm sure that might change though with the release of the final Star Wars installment or Lord of the Rings.

Hmm, I think you missed the very stylized, camp tone of the movie. I mean the organization The Bride was a part of is called the DiVAS. That aside, I didn't like the movie as much as I thought I would. The dialogue seemed stale, which is disappointing because that's in Tarantino's wheelhouse. The action, which is the movie, was good but didn't particularly jump out at me as being amazing. Paying homage to Asian action film is nice but it's not something we haven't seen before. If you're into absurd violence I suggest checking out something like "The Story of Ricky" (remember the exploding head from the Daily Show?). Tarantino was perfect with his music selection though. The music of most movies seems to be an afterthought but it really does make a difference when it is chosen carefully.

Awesome movie. The action scenes were definitly cool++ and the anime part of the film was great. I gotta admit one of my favorite parts was the gun in the cereal box. So unexpected. I can't wait until Vol 2 comes out in February.

Ahhh,Quite impossible my good friend. When she pulls up to Copperhead's house, she double checks her Kill 5 List, in which Cottonmouth's name is crossed out, showing that the death of Copperhead is AFTER she took on Lucy Lui. So She must have gotten the money for the tickets some other way... but really, who cares?

I just saw that movie and it was great! Some gory stuff was a little too much for me, but it all had a purpose..like "all your body parts belong to me", and to torture that woman but keep her alive to tell Bill stuff-and show Umas capabilities. I loved that part where Lucy's scalped was cleaned off..it was like..Wow..Brain Freeze.LOL...Lucy is so pretty...damn her.

Just got back from seeing it and it was an awesome movie. Not sure why people are saying the first part was 3 hours. It was only 2 hours. The blatant exaggeration of blood and violence was perfect for this movie. The back-story on Lucy Lui's character was a bit unexpected (I didn't think it was really that important to explain it) but it was well done using the animation.

I've heard rumours that the last line in Vol 2. Will go down in history as the most famous movie line ever.

What I want to know is if Bill is so handy with his Samurai Sword, why did he shoot her in the head with a gun? And where were the other guns in this film? Surely Japanese Yakuza carry some guns?

If taken with a sense of humour, this movie is worth the price of admission.

I thought this movie was pretty great. Very entertaining and definitally worth seeing if you're into action flicks. And as could have been expected, it's got a good dose of originality and variation, ie. Lucy Liu's past in anime-style. The fight scenes were fantastic and the soundtrack was absolutely awesome... maybe even worth buying. Some parts of it dragged a little bit, but overall I thought it was worth it to see in the theatre. At least catch a matinee of this one! Unlike most, it won't be as good on rental.

On a side note, the hosing blood was LOL-tastic

Worth seeing, definitly. The action scenes are alot of fun, even though some scenes are disturbing. Its cool cause its a refreshing action movie, with a modest bidget I think. If taken with a grain of salt it is one of the best movies ive seen in while.

O.K., just saw it couple of hours ago;good flick. It's cool from start to the end. Kind of like a old Italian Western and Manga all into one. I don't think it's for everybody though and it's not Tarantino best movie but for the entertainement value, it's right on the money.

On the black and white during the House of Blue Leaves scene: I've read lots of reviews and they say that it was to get an R rating and not NC-17. According to them color gore would be too much so most of that part had to be done in b/w to get around it.

Correct, for Kill Bill to be played on North American shores, the whole scene had to exclude the color gore. However, I've heard Asian versions of the movie have that part in color. Honestly though, the styling of that part in black and white just makes it that much more cooler.

to me it seemed like he was cracking his knuckles. kinda stretching after a long sleep. it's better than 95% of the crap out there, but not up to his usual chops.

1. there was not one truly memorable scene or image that will haunt me forever. and i agree with an above poster that the dialogue was borderline weak.

2. nowhere near as intense as resevoir dogs, no where near as fun as pulp fiction. of course we've only scene half the movie which i think will eventually be seen a mistake.

favorite parts... soccer kicking the coffee cup. her shaking unsteadyness while fighting. the vacant eyes of the yoyo girl.

out.
