Drop Dead Gorgeous - I love Kirsten Dunst most anywhere, but this one is hilarious. Ellen Barkin, Kirstie Alley and Allison Janney were too funny.
Hudson Hawk - I loved this movie and can't understand why people didn't. Freeway - Reese Witherspoon was excellent in this one.

Equilibrium: underrated
I stayed away because of the generally unfavorable reviews, then rented it one night recently when I was hankering for some fresh sci-fi. It rocks! Maybe not too deep, but it has some amazing action and some great dramatic scenes. If you like sci-fi and action, give it a go. Definitely worth the cost of a rental, at the least.

Dunno where everyone stands on this, but i absolutely loved "Punch Drunk Love". PT Anderson being one of my favorite directors, i saw it immediately upon release dispite horrid user reviews, and mixed critical review..
COMPLETELY new take on romance genre as we know it. Adam Sandler was stunning playing in one of his more serious roles, and it was nice to see he could include at least some of his schtick in the film, but with some meaning behind the actions. Might be for the younger generations, anyone I know whos 30 or above thats seen it, hated it. Another that was completely panned, was Basic. It seemed the critics, check rottentomatoes and youll see, just couldnt understand it. Upon seeing it the first time i was in the same boat, but with a funny sense of satisfaction after being completely confused second time around, if you really try at it, all the puzzle pieces fit together, even if the movie wasnt quite as flowing as it could have been. |

I haven't seen Equilibrium, but have heard lots of good things. I have a birthday coming up, and I'm thinking about asking for it. What movies might you compare it to? Is it one I should rent first, or can it be enjoyed by most people?

Finally, I was wondering if anyone was going to say John Q.
Great movie that for some reason just didn't take off. Provides a realistic story with great acting, what more can you ask for?

I'll go with Hudson Hawk, as well. SLC Punk was great. Now I want to see it again! Also, The Pentagon Wars. Hardly anyone one has seen this and I think the John Q. Public needs to know how thier tax money is spent, lol!

I think "The life of David Gale" is underrated by today's standards. The movie got little press, but it was a very solid movie in my opinion. Also, as far as being in the category of the "best movies of all time" The Shawshank Redemption doesn't get mentioned too much. That movie is outstanding.
