Girly Girl
One of the guys at work, who's way more in touch with his feminine side than Iam with mine, showed me one of the gifts he was getting for his wife for her birthday... a subscription to a site, similar in concept to Netflix, only its for handbags.
http://www.bagborroworsteal.com/index.cfm Neat concept, but honestly had me wondering, how many handbags does a person need? Handbags are those girly things that I carry because I have so much crap that I want it all in one place. I have one small handbag, that lives in my tote bag... How many handbags do you have? Do you use them all for different purposes? What about other "girlie stuff" Are you makeup users, jewelry for every occassion...

the last time I bought makeup was May of 2004, and it's still got some life in it- it's powder, so no foundation to go bad.
Jewelry, I usually have a pair of studs to keep the holes open, my phantom necklace on underneath my clothes. Handbags, I have a black dressyish for the party nights, then a regular bag big enough for my wallet, phone, keys, and coupons. My sister often complains she hates shopping with me because I keep her moving, and don't let her browse over her upteenth bag.... she's already got 10, why does she need any more?

The last time I got make up was when it was a free gift with my moisturizing cream (I love free giflts like that hehe). I very rarely wear make up. But I will not refuse free make up, especially not from Este Lauder.
I only have one handbag and I keep everything in there. Not the smartest thing to do, granted, but hey.. It keeps me from losing stuff (hopefully I wont lose my purse!). Jewelry I have up the gazoo, but that's only because my yaya's (grandma) brother has his own jewelry shop---not to mention my mother gives me jewelry constantly. I dont get all crazy and match everything too much (yeah, i do gold with gold, etc.. but I dont do same brand w/ same brand, same exact style.. etc) ..I'm not that girly. I'm very laid back . I want another handbag because the one I have is a cheap-o from walmart and its falling apart now. If it wasn't falling apart, I wouldn't go out and spend my money on another. Its not worth it to me.

I have two hand/shoulderbags. They are both pretty small but can be worn on the shoulder- a black one for formal occasions with a matching wallet, and a Hello Kitty one for casual times with a matching wallet.
And I don't wear makeup. |

I have one purse in which I put absolutely everything. Phone, wallet, pens, makeup, etc. It cost me like $60 and I use it every day. I have one wallet. And thats it.
Makeup, however .. I .. buy lots of makeup. I don't eve wear it unless its pretty much a special occasion. And I really like expensive hair products. Mainly the smell, not the use! aha, who buys mousse for the smell? |

I have two...one is a tartan back pack purse that I got at Kohls for 5 bucks and the other is a simple black one that I got at walmart on clearance for about 8 dollars....I really dont care a whole lot about handbags...the backpack one I bought for my first trip to Chicago 3 years ago and its pretty much the one I use all the time....not bad for 5 bucks hehehe
Far as makeup goes...I use Covergirl or Jane or wet and wild...depends on what I need...Jane has good lipstick, wet and wild has the best eyeliner and covergirl has the best foundation, eyeshadow, mascara jewelry I wear my rings Dave gave me, a silver chain he gave me with my fairy pendant and my leather collar...IF Im going somewhere dressy I have a pearl choker or a black fabric one with a celtic cross on it...depends on whats going on as to what I wear..earrings are simple carat CZ studs...unless I need to look my "mistress" self...in that case I wear wither my leather flogger earrings or my chainmail dangly ones

I have so many things I always want to have with me, besides the usual keys, phone, wallet, I also need pain relievers, contact solution, sunglasses, tampons, and lots of various pieces of paper I've thrown in there. I have lots of purses because I get bored of the same one after awhile. I have several smaller purses for dressing up or going out too. I think I'm pretty average with the makeup/ jewelry. I buy makeup when I need it, I just buy it at target I don't need the fancy stuff. Jewelry I buy when I need it to go with a specific dress for a wedding or when I see something in particular that catches my eye which is rare.
However I have a friend who is always showing up with a new purse/handbag. That website would be perfect for her. She usually has her big purse in the car with the usual mess and then takes her smaller one (handbag I guess) with the essentials in it to the bar or wherever we are going. Some women are really into their purses and I can see why that website would be so great. |

I have a bunch of bags but I usually avoid the classic "purse" style because it's just not my thing. I'm sure I wouldn'y use one if I didn't need somewhere to put all my stuff; address book, checkbook, cellphone, all those damn receipts and scraps of paper I accumulate....
I have started wearing makeup fairly regularly but only a bit of lipstick and mascara. Oh, and sunscreen is essential for me. The thing is, I have a bunch of girly stuff, although most of it falls under more the post-punk vintage dress category than strictly girly girly. But I almost never break it out anymore, and usually just wear a t-shirt and black pants. I have a bunch of makeup and various skin unguents that I never even open, much less use. I just never really got in the habit of using this stuff, and I'm a tomboy at heart. The terrible truth is I secretly feel like I'm not a real "girl" since I don't use a blow dryer and don't have the first clue as to what I would do with hair products. Hell, I don't even own a comb or brush. Don't tell anyone. |

I carry one little bag and use it until it falls apart. I hate carrying things around and many times either leave it locked in the car or at home and just bring my billfold(i don't even own one of those multi-compartment wallets). I have also forgotten it at many places, mostly restaurants. I surely did not inherit my mother's penchant for owning many handbags.
I do my make-up in the morning:eyeliner, foundation and eyebrows-I ABHOR lipstick and will only use one for photography and even then, very rarely. I love jewelry, but, being a jeans and t-shirt kind of person, that stays home 99% of the time. I AM, however, a total shoe freak. I buy shoes that I think I'll love and never wear them, but never get rid of them either. And the ones I do love, I buy more of and wear them out. Last edited by ngdawg; 10-09-2004 at 08:04 PM.. |

If I could afford it I would have no problem spending ~ $1000 or more on a bag. I suppose I'm kinda a girly girl. I love fashion and makeup and such. I'm limited by my budget, but I usually push it as far as I *can* within those means. I don't wear makeup every day, as I look fine without, but I've been getting into it more. (I'm on a general 'take care of my appearance' thing lately). I do love to buy makeup though. Again, whatever I can afford, which is usually just drugstore, but when I can, I treat myself to something high-end. (next on my wishlist - Chanel Aqualumiere l/s 'Waikiki'). Jewelry..another thing I 'collect' although most of it is in storage in the US. I've a crapload of rings, but the only 2 I wear now are the ones that mean the most to me. Earrings I wear always, usually my medium-sized whitegold hoops, but I've got others I wear occasionally. Always-on necklace is a small star charm on a ball-chain, just bigger than my neck. (/me is now thinking she should clean some of her other jewelry and wear it sometimes...) .....aaaanyways.....yeah.

I don't own any handbags. I prefer a wallet- it's much simpler. I do own quite a bit of makeup though and I use it every day. Not a big fan of jewelry though. I wear one necklace all the time, a watch and my "bracelets" usually consist of hair bands.

I must have 20 purses, $1000 in makeup, more shoes that will fit in my closet floor, and enough thongs to fill two dresser drawers....does that make me a girly girl? However, I see no need to spend $1000 on a purse or $600 on a pair of shoes. I'd rather save that money and spend it on big ticket jewlery!

I only got as much as I need which means:
shoes: 2 pair (sandals and boots) that are extremely classy for a special occasion 1 stylish/cool one for casual wear, 2 pair of sneakers for my workout handbags: one for every day use and... I'd like to buy one more that I can use when I'm dining out etc. Makeup: I always buy miltiple coloured eyeshadows like this one so it'll match as much of my clothes as possible. I only got 4 lip sticks because if I mix them I can obtain a lot of new cool colors . I've got one water proof mascara and one that's not, 2 eyeliners and..that's it. Clothes: Now there's a thing that I don't mind spending a lot of money on because I'll be using it for a long time

that sounds like a really weird site and a waste of money..
not to mention impractical. who wants to transfer all their shit from bag to bag every day/week? sounds like fun. it's hard enough with two school bags.. (because one stores more than the other) and a little shoulder bag "purse" i keep my wallet in if not for my school bags. i haven't bought makeup in ages. probably at least 4 years. and i usually get it as gifts anyway. i'm not much of a "girly girl" in this department. the only times i'll wear makeup is for special occasions like weddings, interviews, etc. but as far as shoes and clothes, it's not a tomboy look.

I have at least 8 purses. I can't get rid of them because I only buy things that are "me." I'm more sentimental than girly. I buy a new purse when I notice that the one I'm using is getting old. I used to wear a lot of jewelry, and can't bear to get rid of any of it because my taste goes in cycles. I only wear one ring right now. I wear earrings on occasion to keep the holes open. I collect pieces that speak to me, and wear them when I feel like it. Makeup is fairly simple, powder, blush, eyeshadow, lipgloss. I don't even wear mascara since I bought an eyelash curler. I do have a lot of makeup (at least I think so, but that's just me). I also collect shoes. I'm learning how to get rid of the ones that are worn out, which just means that I'm making room for the new ones I'll eventually get around to buying.

We should start a thread to that aspect of language. eg, have you ever heard people say that they have to 'unthaw' some meat that's in the freezer? Doesn't that mean freeze it? btw: I have about 10 purses/ backpack purses total. At least 1 little black formal one for my 'stuff' (compact, tampon, cell phone, listermint and tissues) but 5 of them are kind of dated/ passe. |

Ya gift. it is after all free (I hope). Anybody that says free gift is lying then, so youshould beware, because the gift comes with strings attached such as buying a product etc.
Remember that Seinfeld episode, where they were talking about Chinese Food? And one of them says, but in China they just call it 'Food'. God, I laughed so hard at that. It was doubly funny for me, having chinese parents, because in China they don't call it food at all. They say 'sek faan' which means 'eat rice'. So in china they say Rice. meaning food. lol. |

I'm a bag-whore! Right now I have 3 handbags and a backpack.. but because my husband and I are both bagwhores... we have quite a vast collection of bags. We usually have to talk one another away from bags when we go shopping....

Ok, I know this is going to look really bad, but ....here it goes:
at least 40 purses/handbags, and another 7 wallets, as well as 5 more makeup bags Now, for my makeup: a very large cosmetic case with over 20 of each: eyeshadows, lipsticks/lipglosses, eyeliners and about 5 mascaras. But only 2 foundations, 1 powder each (pressed/loose) I did use my makeup daily, up until I started my current job, which has made my use of makeup to be sparse. I use it whenever I have time off tho. shoes and clothes, obviously I'm a bit of an extremist, shall we say.......
