i have used it in a way... i know that it is actually two pills and it is equivalent to taking, in total, 8 birth control pills.
anyway, i had some extra packages of birth control pills after i quit. my partner and i were going to use the pull out method, but he came too quickly. when i woke up, i took 4 birth control pills, and another 4 (i can't remember how many hours later... something like 6, 8,10 or 12... the correct number anyway). i felt sick all day. i knew that i was not, under any circumstances, supposed to throw up because i could be throwing up the hormones, so i took gravol, which knocked me to sleep. anyway, although it made me sick like a bitch and i had to take a day off work, turned out i didn't get pregnant. i wouldn't make a habit of using this method, but i'm glad it's there. |

splend: be careful w/ that, it's always better to be taking meds under the supervision of a doctor!
lady: have never had to, but supposedly ti's very effective. it can make you nausious, from what I've heard and read, but personally, i kinda figure it's a good price to pay, considering the risk you're preventing. factoids: * you have upto 72 hours after sex to take the "morning after" pill. as far as I know, earlier is better, though! * planned parenthood, school clinics are both exellent sources for emergency contraception, or information on where else to obtain it! hope some of that answers what you're lookin' for! |

I've used it. It was awful. I got really sick and puked all day. Considering what could have happened if I hadn't used the pill, the time hanging over the john was time well spent.

This seems to sum up most of what you all said:
http://ec.princeton.edu/info/ecp.html The two brands of contraceptive made specifically as an emergency contraceptive: http://www.preven.com/ -- I believe this is the one that was introduced to the United States in the late 90s but has been used in Europe for quite some time. It's one or the other, but I'm pretty sure it's this one. http://www.go2planb.com/

Hi lady,
I used it once and there were no problems. Never felt nausious(sp?) or off colour at any point. The doctor said they had done a lot of work to the new pill's to prevent such side effects... even so its best not to have to use it!! hope that helps Victoria |

I used it once also, and never felt sick one bit. I told this to a friend of mine, and she refused to believe I took it because she was sick as a dog when she had to use it. But yeah, there are newer pills, and I think that's what I got.

Like beetlebabe I've also used the MAP without any problems, no feelings of nauasea, no spotting, no diziness. There's been talk here in australia of actually making the MAP a chemist dispensed drug ie. removing the need to see a doctor for a prescription, which makes sense since it's emergency contraception.

i had to get the morning after pill (Plan B) a couple weeks ago. i got through it with almost no nausea (just a little bit when we were walking around town in the heat) and absolutely no vomiting...it was one of those situations where i wasn't sure when my period should start (it ended up starting three days later) and we wanted to be super careful. the condom fell off inside of me during some umm...rough stuff, and we didnt' realize it was gone until we'd both climaxed. at the clinic we saw the saddest thing ever--a girl came to pick up her pills and they wouldn't take her check...so yeah. anyhow, i guess i was lucky as far as the side effects go.

Oh man, the day I had to get the morning after pill was one of the worst days in history. The pill itself was not the worst of it, in fact, not so bad at all. I took Plan B, which I got from Planned Parenthood for free. I was told that it should not cause nausea, but did it ever. I don't remember actually vomiting, but I had to leave work. Still, totally worth the consequences.

I was sooooooo sick, damn, I'm not sure I've ever thrown up that much before, except for w hen I had a severe intestinal bacterial infection. I"m glad I did, cuz my ex was an ass, and I didn't want to have his baby. So I'm glad I took it, and it was certainly worth it.
In general, it's best if both parties are prepared for birth control, if he assumes you don't have any, so he brings condoms, and vice versa. That way, if there *is* surprise sex, then you won't have to worry about it. Oh, and I was 8 pills for me, with 3 seperate doctor's visits. Each doctor, clinic is different in how they do it, I think. My ob/gyn insisted that I take them there, and stay there for an hour, to make sure everything was ok. Now, I take the depo shot, it lasts for 3 months, yay!! Still, remember about STD's, birth control won't prevent against diseases. Pregnancy isn't the only thing to worry about. ((**note** not thread-jacking, just thought it important to say**))
