cybermike,
What kind of system is that? Most rezi systems use a phone line to call out (another trick is to call the number and not hang up, thus tying up the line). Phone line cut = no communication. Kill the power to kill the audible. The only way around that is a cellular back-up. I just did one for FPS (Federal Protective Service) in a SCIF (SeCure InFormation) room. Kinda cool though, our design had to be pre-approved by the CIA. Any way, I digress. The alarm has to have a way of communicating. I don't see how the system could communicate if you cut the lines of communication. Rezi systems are pretty inexpensive so the extra cost for a cellular back-up is quite uncommon I am curious what kind of system you are referring to?

My brothers old apartment, who he was sharing with about 3 others, was broken into a few years ago. The usual cash and easy to carry items were stolen. But what pissed my brother off more was that the fucker had the balls to hang around (he had probably cased the place and noticed everyone was out during the daytime), make himself a bacon and egg sandwich, and then shoot up in the living room.
Fucking junkie scum.

i have 26 years in the insurance field. if your claim is close to your deductible it probably would not be a good idea to file it. even if you do, it will not make your rates go up. homeowners insurance is not experience rated like car insurance so having a claim will not increase your rate. it might cause you to get non-renewed however, which is worse. good luck !!

When i was 8 and my brother was 12 we were home alone during the week & some fucking teens broke in. We heard them down stairs going through shit so we waited on either side off the stairs for them to come up and when they did we beat them with bats....
ahh.... there is nothing like the bond 2 brothers have after beating 2 stupid thieves with bats. where were you when this happened? Last edited by animosity; 07-09-2004 at 06:57 AM.. |

I got robbed twice, The first time I turned it into the insurance company cause they got my new laptop plus a bunch of other stuff. Then a few months later they came back and took what they didn't get the first time. I just ate that one because I knew the insurance company would cancel if I turned in another claim so soon.
Insist the insurance company give you a check first. They tried that crap with me. Then some one else in the office told me they won't reimburse if I just went out and bought the stuff again. |

One point I need to clarify: it wasn't a robbery, it was a burglary. To say you were robbed is to say you were home and confronted by the burgler. I'm not sure if you have to be threatened by them for it to constitute a robbery though....
I was burglarized a few years back and when I called the cops I said I was robbed. they set me straight fast. Of course, they made off with a lot of stuff. If the deductable is 500 bucks I'd say it'd be pointless to file a claim...
