Storms rattled us last night
Last night was a hoot. Although it didn't get too bad right here, all around us was panedmonium and chaos. There were reports of baseball sized hail, almost 80 tornados, and trains even derailed with 110 mile an hour winds.
It was scary, but at the same time, it wasn't. The worst we got in our city was rain. But when I watched the weather channel this morning, the path of the tornados went right over the top of us. In fact, at one point there was a clear line of counties all under tornado warnings from the left to the right of the screen, excluding about three counties- one of which we were in. The storm actually formed a circle around our town, as some of it was coming from the north, and some of it from the south. Traff has a theory that it may be due to the pollution- we are the most polluted area in this part of the midwest. Anyone have any theory as to why most storms miss us?

After being stranded at the airport Friday night for about 8 hours, and not getting back to a hotel until 4:00 am -- I'm so sick of weather.
I love a good thunder and lightening storm, when I am home to watch it - not stuck in an airport trying to get home. After seeing some of the news reports from the storms that hit the midwest, be thankful that the storms missed you.

One day an Englishman, a Scotsman, and an Irishman walked into a pub together. They each bought a pint of Guinness. Just as they were about to enjoy their creamy beverage, three flies landed in each of their pints. The Englishman pushed his beer away in disgust. The Scotsman fished the fly out of his beer and continued drinking it, as if nothing had happened. The Irishman, too, picked the fly out of his drink but then held it out over the beer and yelled "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT, YOU BASTARD!" |

Lost power for 24 hours Saturday due to storm in lower Michigan. That sucked.
We get tornados occasionally in that area. Not often, though. So it's quite interesting to watch. ![]()

The only reason that I could possibly give for it not hitting you is that you are damn lucky. There must be something about your town that others around you don't have.. and that makes you lucky. I'll be out in Indiana in the fall and am a little freaked out about the tornado fact. All we get in NJ are hurricans (small ones) and snow... that's all.

We've had a couple of good ones roll through the last couple of days. We had tornado watches all evening Suday, and some heavy heavy rain. We don't get too many tornados here, we're in sort of a bowl, so they go around us.

Besides it raining for the past three days and all day today last night we had a pretty big storm last night. I was at my relatives house and I couldn't drive home it was raining so hard. Bad driving weather but it was nice to just sit on the porch and look at.
