Storms rattled us last night

Last night was a hoot. Although it didn't get too bad right here, all around us was panedmonium and chaos. There were reports of baseball sized hail, almost 80 tornados, and trains even derailed with 110 mile an hour winds.

It was scary, but at the same time, it wasn't. The worst we got in our city was rain. But when I watched the weather channel this morning, the path of the tornados went right over the top of us. In fact, at one point there was a clear line of counties all under tornado warnings from the left to the right of the screen, excluding about three counties- one of which we were in.

The storm actually formed a circle around our town, as some of it was coming from the north, and some of it from the south. Traff has a theory that it may be due to the pollution- we are the most polluted area in this part of the midwest. Anyone have any theory as to why most storms miss us?

Ooh, that's interesting. I find storms to be really neat. However, while IN one like that.... eek.

We never get storms here unless they involve snow :(

I love storms. It didn't get as stormy here as they predicted, which i wanted.
Are you on higher or lower elevation? Usually the valleys tend to get affected the most, when it pertains to wind.

After being stranded at the airport Friday night for about 8 hours, and not getting back to a hotel until 4:00 am -- I'm so sick of weather.

I love a good thunder and lightening storm, when I am home to watch it - not stuck in an airport trying to get home.

After seeing some of the news reports from the storms that hit the midwest, be thankful that the storms missed you.

Hell I'd kill just to see some rain. Having perfect weather everyday does get a little old.

Move to Seattle then :)

I believe I was in some of the storm you speak of, Rubyee, although it only lasted a short while. Unfortunately, it still totally messed up my plans for boating on Saturday :(.

It stormed here really hard last night also. I love to hear the rain pounding down on the roof. It makes me really horny when it storms also I don't really know why though.

Heh, you obviously don't live in New England or work on cars :D

Lost power for 24 hours Saturday due to storm in lower Michigan. That sucked.

We get tornados occasionally in that area. Not often, though. So it's quite interesting to watch. :)

I'd kill to have perfect weather every day. Having to dodge tornadoes and hail and foot after foot of snow in the winter gets old.

The only reason that I could possibly give for it not hitting you is that you are damn lucky. There must be something about your town that others around you don't have.. and that makes you lucky. I'll be out in Indiana in the fall and am a little freaked out about the tornado fact. All we get in NJ are hurricans (small ones) and snow... that's all.

absorbentishe 05-24-2004 08:53 AM

We've had a couple of good ones roll through the last couple of days. We had tornado watches all evening Suday, and some heavy heavy rain. We don't get too many tornados here, we're in sort of a bowl, so they go around us.

Jolt 05-24-2004 06:21 PM

We've had 4 appreciable storms here in the past week...including a sunderstorm today. Half the sky was bright blue, the sun was shining, and there was thunder & lightning.

Rubyee 05-24-2004 06:44 PM

We had another big 'un today, too! This is just getting old.

I would say you can relax. Tornado season is now. Fall tornadoes are much more rare.

Besides it raining for the past three days and all day today last night we had a pretty big storm last night. I was at my relatives house and I couldn't drive home it was raining so hard. Bad driving weather but it was nice to just sit on the porch and look at.

Amethyst 05-24-2004 07:26 PM

We had a big one last night and this morning. It's starting back in right now. We have a tornado warning and it is really coming down here. Lot's of noise. I love it!
