Describe your perfect edible sandwich.
So, today I went out and bought some fresh, uncured, unsmoked turkey and some wheat potato bread. I spread REAL mayo all over 2 slices of bread and flopped a half pound of the turkey on.
M-M-M-M-Monster sandwich!! That's my favorite sandwich ever. What's yours?

Gotta be the triple white sourdough bread, turkey club house sandwich.
Butter, light mayo, smoked turkey, bacon, lettuce and tomatoe held together with not 1, not 2, but 3 slices of toasted sourdough. Ohhh yeah.

A lil somthing I custom make quite often.
Turn on your ovens broiler, get out some cookie sheet drying racks that are not full size and sit about 1/2" off a surface. Take 2 pieces of bread, put them in a toaster till they are JUST starting to darken. Put down a layer of mayo/m.whip on one of the peices of bread. Add fav semi-thin sliced ham, salami, peperoni, bologna, capicola ,etc. Then toss on some bacon, and cover with shreaded motzerella cheese or provolone. Place into broiler till cheese is melted, and enjoy one hell of a sandwich.

Two-way tie and impossible to choose.
1) Winter-time......Turkey sandwiches made ONLY from leftover Thanksgiving or Christmas turkey. White bread. Mayo. Turkey. Salt & Pepper. That's it. 2) Summer-time.....Tomato sandwiches made ONLY from fresh, home-grown tomatoes. White bread. Mayo. Tomato slices. Salt & Pepper. That's it.

On a potato roll put a good helping of the smoked turkey, some ham, and possibly some roast beef. Add bacon and lettuce (if available) and spread some hot mustard on the roll. Now that's lovin'.

The key for me is that you start with a good roll. If you are not from the NorthEast, you will not understand. This sandwich cannot be constructed properly in other areas of the country.
1 hard roll (seseme seeds on top optional) Slather with Mayo (not that miracle whip shit either) 1/4 pound Smoked Turkey Breast (Boar's Head Brand if possible) 1/4 pound Rare Roast beef (Boar's Head again - huge difference in the roast beef compared to others) Couple slices of swiss Throw it in the Toaster oven (top brown once) 1 scoop of fresh cole slaw (mayo based not vinegar based) Enjoy (Note: you may need to unhinge your jaw to eat this sucker! )

There is a scene in Kill Bill Vol. 2 that shows Bill making sandwhiches for another character (trying not to give away any spoilers for people who haven't seen Kill Bill yet). It looked like he was making your basic white bread, meat, cheese, mayo and mustard sandwhich. That very night I went and bought a loaf of bread and made five sandwhiches for dinner. I ate sandwhiches for like a week after that movie. I don't know why i get these weird urges...

As long as it includes GOOD bread (none of that shit in plastic bags with a brand name and nutritional information), ripe avacado, and bacon, then it is beautiful.
Stick just about anything in there and it's great - Burger, fried egg, pastrami, various cheeses, ahi or any combination of the aforementioned foodstuffs.

Chipped roasted chicken breast on thick italian bread with tomatoes from my garden (this is the most important part, as homegrown tomatoes have 1000x the flavor of store-bought), lorraine-swiss cheese, a little bit of dijon mustard, and salt and pepper. Hard to beat that.
Runner up would have to be an open faced grilled cheese sandwich with tomatoes (fresh, again). It's a great flavor combination. Last edited by saut; 05-03-2004 at 05:58 PM.. |

There are way too many great options to pick one, but here are few of my favorites
1) Grilled chedder on wonder type bread. It is simple and wonderful 2) Grilled bacon and swiss on rye, with or without tomato. 3) Rare roast beef with horseradish flavored mayo. 4) A real Italian style sub 5) A BLT with ripe garden raised tomatos 6) A NY style corned beef on rye that is so thick you can't get it in your mouth and end up taking some home. A good spiced mustard is required. 7) A turkey muffeletta with olive tampanade that has been pressed into the bread.
