Describe your perfect edible sandwich.

So, today I went out and bought some fresh, uncured, unsmoked turkey and some wheat potato bread. I spread REAL mayo all over 2 slices of bread and flopped a half pound of the turkey on.

M-M-M-M-Monster sandwich!!

That's my favorite sandwich ever. What's yours?

analog 05-02-2004 11:01 PM

Grilled cheese. MMMmmmmmmmmmmmmm......

thanks for posting this, because now I want one. *goes off to make some*

Radio Monk33 05-02-2004 11:33 PM

Gotta be the triple white sourdough bread, turkey club house sandwich.

Butter, light mayo, smoked turkey, bacon, lettuce and tomatoe held together with not 1, not 2, but 3 slices of toasted sourdough. Ohhh yeah.

Reese 05-03-2004 01:01 AM

Throw a fresh tomato on that Turkey sandwich and you've got my perfect sandwich.

KellyC 05-03-2004 01:15 AM

ok....uh..where to start....
First the American' sandwich...

roasted chicken peice, with bacon, cheese, lettuce, onions, tomato, ham, ranch, pepper and hot scause, with roasted bread.

Vietnamese sandwich
cucumber, jalapeno pepper, celantro, pepper, *special vietnamese sandwich sauce that I don't know the english name for it....*shredded roasted chicken peices, BBQ pork vietnamse style. Shredded pork skins, with shredded vietnamese pork ham, all roasted. And also toasted bread..

shit...now I'm hungry for both.....

carrot glace 05-03-2004 01:36 AM

a mexican torta, or grilled cheese w/ham

Journeyman 05-03-2004 01:46 AM

My grandmother's home made ham sandwiches.

Destrox 05-03-2004 03:35 AM

A lil somthing I custom make quite often.

Turn on your ovens broiler, get out some cookie sheet drying racks that are not full size and sit about 1/2" off a surface.

Take 2 pieces of bread, put them in a toaster till they are JUST starting to darken.

Put down a layer of mayo/m.whip on one of the peices of bread. Add fav semi-thin sliced ham, salami, peperoni, bologna, capicola ,etc. Then toss on some bacon, and cover with shreaded motzerella cheese or provolone.

Place into broiler till cheese is melted, and enjoy one hell of a sandwich.

iamweasel 05-03-2004 03:53 AM

A footlong roast beef sub on wheat with loads of cheese and black olives. if you like them separately try them in a sub together...you won't be disappointed.

HALX IS GODLIKE.

I imagine that's what you were thinking when you wrote that :)

My fave sandwhich is a plain ol' ham + swiss on rye, with one side buttered.. ahh.. can't beat the classics.

splck 05-03-2004 05:43 AM

Bacon, lettuce and tomato on toasted whole wheat, with mayo and a nice amount of pepper... made by me.:)
It doesn't get any better than that.

Polyphobic 05-03-2004 06:05 AM

Lame but it's my fav from when I was a kid to now: PBJ
I have at least 1 or more a week.

Piston Honda 05-03-2004 07:47 AM

Banana bread, pastrami, and cottage cheese...

Fremen 05-03-2004 08:49 AM

A meatball sub with lots of sliced black olives, onions and mayo.

warrrreagl 05-03-2004 09:00 AM

Two-way tie and impossible to choose.

1) Winter-time......Turkey sandwiches made ONLY from leftover Thanksgiving or Christmas turkey.

White bread. Mayo. Turkey. Salt & Pepper. That's it.

2) Summer-time.....Tomato sandwiches made ONLY from fresh, home-grown tomatoes.

White bread. Mayo. Tomato slices. Salt & Pepper. That's it.

Bossnass 05-03-2004 09:14 AM

The Heart Stopper special:
Grilled cheese and bacon. (Maybe a bit of ketchup for dipping)

or
Leftover barbecued steak sliced up, cheese whiz, on a toasted bun.

kwoodmex 05-03-2004 09:41 AM

white bread, nice healthy serving of Hellmann's, two thick slices of Bolgna, topped with fresh cut onions.

Aletheia 05-03-2004 09:52 AM

Meatball sub with mayo, mustard, pepper, salt, parmesan and other chesses. So tasty.

tisonlyi 05-03-2004 09:55 AM

Granary Bread

Butter
Blue Cheese
Honey Glazed Ham
Few Pickled Chillis

:->~~~~~~~

Must. Go. Supermarket.

Nefir 05-03-2004 10:23 AM

In that order:

- Tightly-packed multi-grain bread
- Mayonnaise
- Slice of turkey breast
- Sundried tomatoes
- Jarlsberg cheese

> Lightly toasted (optional)

Man, this thread is making me hungry. I think I'll take my lunch break now :D

BonesCPA 05-03-2004 10:57 AM

On a potato roll put a good helping of the smoked turkey, some ham, and possibly some roast beef. Add bacon and lettuce (if available) and spread some hot mustard on the roll. Now that's lovin'.

SabrinaFair 05-03-2004 11:08 AM

Roast beef on wheat with tomato, romaine lettuce, red onion, pickle, and pesto mayonnaise.

Mondak 05-03-2004 12:06 PM

The key for me is that you start with a good roll. If you are not from the NorthEast, you will not understand. This sandwich cannot be constructed properly in other areas of the country.

1 hard roll (seseme seeds on top optional)

Slather with Mayo (not that miracle whip shit either)

1/4 pound Smoked Turkey Breast (Boar's Head Brand if possible)

1/4 pound Rare Roast beef (Boar's Head again - huge difference in the roast beef compared to others)

Couple slices of swiss

Throw it in the Toaster oven (top brown once)

1 scoop of fresh cole slaw (mayo based not vinegar based)

Enjoy (Note: you may need to unhinge your jaw to eat this sucker! )

soccerchamp76 05-03-2004 12:19 PM

I dunno if professionals count but:
Quizno's Mesquite Chicken with Bacon
Santa Fe Chicken on Italian Ciabatta Bread

troit 05-03-2004 12:36 PM

Grilled peanut butter and jelly on potato bread. Doesn't get any better.

;)

k1ng 05-03-2004 02:26 PM

There is a scene in Kill Bill Vol. 2 that shows Bill making sandwhiches for another character (trying not to give away any spoilers for people who haven't seen Kill Bill yet). It looked like he was making your basic white bread, meat, cheese, mayo and mustard sandwhich. That very night I went and bought a loaf of bread and made five sandwhiches for dinner. I ate sandwhiches for like a week after that movie. I don't know why i get these weird urges...

Tophat665 05-03-2004 03:46 PM

Rare Roast Beef, Bacon, Swiss cheese, Shredded lettuce, sliced white onion, pepperoncini rings, black olive slices & tzantziki sauce (Greek cucumber, dill, yoghurt sauce) on a white sub roll, toasted in a pizza oven and sprinkled with oregano

or

The Elvis: Peanut butter, Banana and Bacon grilled in either bacon grease or a half stick of butter.

animosity 05-03-2004 03:48 PM

The Krogers in my town sells this deli chicken that taste like hot wings.... i put that on pumpernickle rye bread with fresh baby lettuce(from my garden), pepper jack cheese, black pepper. and red pepper.

yabobo 05-03-2004 04:12 PM

la petite moi 05-03-2004 04:37 PM

Yummy!!!!

Sourdough with mustard, tomatoes, lettuce, avocado, and American cheese. Yay.

insidious_machinae 05-03-2004 04:38 PM

sourdough with mayo, tomatoes, cheddar cheese (extra cheese is a plus!) and turkey.

clavus 05-03-2004 04:50 PM

As long as it includes GOOD bread (none of that shit in plastic bags with a brand name and nutritional information), ripe avacado, and bacon, then it is beautiful.

Stick just about anything in there and it's great -

Burger, fried egg, pastrami, various cheeses, ahi or any combination of the aforementioned foodstuffs.

HamiC 05-03-2004 04:50 PM

Fluffernutter. Nuff said.

I tried that one time. I found a recipe for it where you drizzled honey over the inside before closing it up and grilling it.
It was a very messy sammich. ;)
It was good, but I can't see myself making it again.

streak_56 05-03-2004 05:27 PM

Wheat bread, roast beef, tomato, and provalone (sp?) cheese.... I have it as much as I can

nothingx 05-03-2004 05:37 PM

Alright, here it is...

A jumbo backfin Maryland crabcake smothered in melted swiss cheese and bacon on a warm soft pretzel roll with touch of spicy mustard. Sound odd? I thought so too, then I tried one....

saut 05-03-2004 05:52 PM

Chipped roasted chicken breast on thick italian bread with tomatoes from my garden (this is the most important part, as homegrown tomatoes have 1000x the flavor of store-bought), lorraine-swiss cheese, a little bit of dijon mustard, and salt and pepper. Hard to beat that.

Runner up would have to be an open faced grilled cheese sandwich with tomatoes (fresh, again). It's a great flavor combination.

greytone 05-03-2004 05:55 PM

There are way too many great options to pick one, but here are few of my favorites

1) Grilled chedder on wonder type bread. It is simple and wonderful

2) Grilled bacon and swiss on rye, with or without tomato.

3) Rare roast beef with horseradish flavored mayo.

4) A real Italian style sub

5) A BLT with ripe garden raised tomatos

6) A NY style corned beef on rye that is so thick you can't get it in your mouth and end up taking some home. A good spiced mustard is required.

7) A turkey muffeletta with olive tampanade that has been pressed into the bread.
