Describe your perfect edible sandwich.
So, today I went out and bought some fresh, uncured, unsmoked turkey and some wheat potato bread. I spread REAL mayo all over 2 slices of bread and flopped a half pound of the turkey on.
M-M-M-M-Monster sandwich!! That's my favorite sandwich ever. What's yours? |
Grilled cheese. MMMmmmmmmmmmmmmm......
thanks for posting this, because now I want one. *goes off to make some* |
Gotta be the triple white sourdough bread, turkey club house sandwich.
Butter, light mayo, smoked turkey, bacon, lettuce and tomatoe held together with not 1, not 2, but 3 slices of toasted sourdough. Ohhh yeah. |
Throw a fresh tomato on that Turkey sandwich and you've got my perfect sandwich.
|
ok....uh..where to start....
First the American' sandwich... roasted chicken peice, with bacon, cheese, lettuce, onions, tomato, ham, ranch, pepper and hot scause, with roasted bread. Vietnamese sandwich cucumber, jalapeno pepper, celantro, pepper, *special vietnamese sandwich sauce that I don't know the english name for it....*shredded roasted chicken peices, BBQ pork vietnamse style. Shredded pork skins, with shredded vietnamese pork ham, all roasted. And also toasted bread.. shit...now I'm hungry for both..... |
a mexican torta, or grilled cheese w/ham
|
My grandmother's home made ham sandwiches.
|
A lil somthing I custom make quite often.
Turn on your ovens broiler, get out some cookie sheet drying racks that are not full size and sit about 1/2" off a surface. Take 2 pieces of bread, put them in a toaster till they are JUST starting to darken. Put down a layer of mayo/m.whip on one of the peices of bread. Add fav semi-thin sliced ham, salami, peperoni, bologna, capicola ,etc. Then toss on some bacon, and cover with shreaded motzerella cheese or provolone. Place into broiler till cheese is melted, and enjoy one hell of a sandwich. |

HALX IS GODLIKE. I imagine that's what you were thinking when you wrote that :) My fave sandwhich is a plain ol' ham + swiss on rye, with one side buttered.. ahh.. can't beat the classics. |
Bacon, lettuce and tomato on toasted whole wheat, with mayo and a nice amount of pepper... made by me.:)
It doesn't get any better than that. |
Lame but it's my fav from when I was a kid to now: PBJ
I have at least 1 or more a week. |
Banana bread, pastrami, and cottage cheese...
|
A meatball sub with lots of sliced black olives, onions and mayo.
|
Two-way tie and impossible to choose.
1) Winter-time......Turkey sandwiches made ONLY from leftover Thanksgiving or Christmas turkey. White bread. Mayo. Turkey. Salt & Pepper. That's it. 2) Summer-time.....Tomato sandwiches made ONLY from fresh, home-grown tomatoes. White bread. Mayo. Tomato slices. Salt & Pepper. That's it. |
The Heart Stopper special:
Grilled cheese and bacon. (Maybe a bit of ketchup for dipping) or Leftover barbecued steak sliced up, cheese whiz, on a toasted bun. |
white bread, nice healthy serving of Hellmann's, two thick slices of Bolgna, topped with fresh cut onions.
|
Meatball sub with mayo, mustard, pepper, salt, parmesan and other chesses. So tasty.
|
Granary Bread
Butter Blue Cheese Honey Glazed Ham Few Pickled Chillis :->~~~~~~~ Must. Go. Supermarket. |
In that order:
- Tightly-packed multi-grain bread - Mayonnaise - Slice of turkey breast - Sundried tomatoes - Jarlsberg cheese > Lightly toasted (optional) Man, this thread is making me hungry. I think I'll take my lunch break now :D |
On a potato roll put a good helping of the smoked turkey, some ham, and possibly some roast beef. Add bacon and lettuce (if available) and spread some hot mustard on the roll. Now that's lovin'.
|
Roast beef on wheat with tomato, romaine lettuce, red onion, pickle, and pesto mayonnaise.
|
The key for me is that you start with a good roll. If you are not from the NorthEast, you will not understand. This sandwich cannot be constructed properly in other areas of the country.
1 hard roll (seseme seeds on top optional) Slather with Mayo (not that miracle whip shit either) 1/4 pound Smoked Turkey Breast (Boar's Head Brand if possible) 1/4 pound Rare Roast beef (Boar's Head again - huge difference in the roast beef compared to others) Couple slices of swiss Throw it in the Toaster oven (top brown once) 1 scoop of fresh cole slaw (mayo based not vinegar based) Enjoy (Note: you may need to unhinge your jaw to eat this sucker! ) |
I dunno if professionals count but:
Quizno's Mesquite Chicken with Bacon Santa Fe Chicken on Italian Ciabatta Bread |
Grilled peanut butter and jelly on potato bread. Doesn't get any better.
;) |
There is a scene in Kill Bill Vol. 2 that shows Bill making sandwhiches for another character (trying not to give away any spoilers for people who haven't seen Kill Bill yet). It looked like he was making your basic white bread, meat, cheese, mayo and mustard sandwhich. That very night I went and bought a loaf of bread and made five sandwhiches for dinner. I ate sandwhiches for like a week after that movie. I don't know why i get these weird urges...
|
Rare Roast Beef, Bacon, Swiss cheese, Shredded lettuce, sliced white onion, pepperoncini rings, black olive slices & tzantziki sauce (Greek cucumber, dill, yoghurt sauce) on a white sub roll, toasted in a pizza oven and sprinkled with oregano
or The Elvis: Peanut butter, Banana and Bacon grilled in either bacon grease or a half stick of butter. |
The Krogers in my town sells this deli chicken that taste like hot wings.... i put that on pumpernickle rye bread with fresh baby lettuce(from my garden), pepper jack cheese, black pepper. and red pepper.

2. 3-4 marlyand crabcakes 3. light mayo& tabasco 4. lettuce and tomato don't even try and tell me that you can make better crab cakes:hmm: I am, .....Iron Chef Chesapeake Bay Maryland. |
Yummy!!!!
Sourdough with mustard, tomatoes, lettuce, avocado, and American cheese. Yay. |
sourdough with mayo, tomatoes, cheddar cheese (extra cheese is a plus!) and turkey.
|
As long as it includes GOOD bread (none of that shit in plastic bags with a brand name and nutritional information), ripe avacado, and bacon, then it is beautiful.
Stick just about anything in there and it's great - Burger, fried egg, pastrami, various cheeses, ahi or any combination of the aforementioned foodstuffs. |
Fluffernutter. Nuff said.

It was a very messy sammich. ;) It was good, but I can't see myself making it again. |
Wheat bread, roast beef, tomato, and provalone (sp?) cheese.... I have it as much as I can
|
Alright, here it is...
A jumbo backfin Maryland crabcake smothered in melted swiss cheese and bacon on a warm soft pretzel roll with touch of spicy mustard. Sound odd? I thought so too, then I tried one.... |
Chipped roasted chicken breast on thick italian bread with tomatoes from my garden (this is the most important part, as homegrown tomatoes have 1000x the flavor of store-bought), lorraine-swiss cheese, a little bit of dijon mustard, and salt and pepper. Hard to beat that.
Runner up would have to be an open faced grilled cheese sandwich with tomatoes (fresh, again). It's a great flavor combination. |
There are way too many great options to pick one, but here are few of my favorites
1) Grilled chedder on wonder type bread. It is simple and wonderful 2) Grilled bacon and swiss on rye, with or without tomato. 3) Rare roast beef with horseradish flavored mayo. 4) A real Italian style sub 5) A BLT with ripe garden raised tomatos 6) A NY style corned beef on rye that is so thick you can't get it in your mouth and end up taking some home. A good spiced mustard is required. 7) A turkey muffeletta with olive tampanade that has been pressed into the bread. |

Oh yeah and I would pay good money to hear Marimoto say "Chesapeake" |
1. Grilled Cheese (Velveeta) on Rye Bread with lots of Dijon mustard and a tomato slice or three
or 2. Black Forest Ham, Brie, Dijon Mustard on a toasted Croissant - messy but yummy 3. Proscuitto, Roasted Red Peppers, and Fresh Mozzarella with olive oil on an Italian Roll |
The Monte Cristo
Use large, thick slices of bread, about 6"x6"x5/8" Assume that a slice of meat or cheese is the same thickness that you get at a deli. Separate the slices before placing them on the sandwich, and turn each piece a bit so that they stay separated. It may not seem like much, but it does make a difference. PHASE ONE: Preparation -Set a piece of bread on a plate. -Place approximately 5-6 slices of ham on a piece of bread -On top of the ham, place 3-4 slices of swiss cheese. -On top of the cheese, place 5-6 slices of fresh turkey breast. -Set the second piece of bread on top of the turkey PHASE TWO: The Dirty Work -Prepare batter of the sort that would be used for funnel cake. Thicker batter is better than thinner. Now that I think about it, you should have done this before starting to make the sandwich, so put the sandwich to the side and hurry up with this so the bread doesn't get soggy. That'll teach you to make food without reading the recipe first. -With a basting brush, apply a generous coating of this batter to the outside of the sandwich, making sure that the entire thing is encased; you should not just be battering the bread, the sides where the meat and cheese are visible should be completely covered. -This step is somewhat messy, but it makes the whole thing come together. Place the batter-dripping sandwich in the basket of a deep frier and plunge it into the boiling oil. Watch intently until the batter looks golden-brown and crispy. If you hadn't figured it out already, the sandwich should be removed from the deep frier at this point. Allow excess oil to drip off of the sandwich for a few seconds, then return it to the plate that you used in phase one. PHASE THREE: Gratification -After a moment of cooling, sprinkle the sandwich lightly with powdered sugar. -Bring the sandwich to the table and serve with a side of raspberry jelly. Note: if you're lazy, or if you don't own a deep-frier, this sandwich can be made on french toast and then cooked in a toaster oven until the cheese melts, but that just isn't any fun, and it doesn't taste nearly as good. |
ok *stomach grumbles* you guys rock!
Heres mine: Two pieces of 12 grain bread Miracle Whip Lite (gotten used to it, never had anything else) Regular Yellow Mustard (no honey, just plain mmm) Full cream extra sharp cheddar (you can get something similar to this from Harry and Davids but its expensive) Some fresh Peperoni, or some Hard Salami Or Summer Sausage (you get the idea) Put on a fair amount of the mustard, a lot of the may (mmmm mayo) a thick slab of cheese (love cheese, its the spice of life) and an equally thick layer of meat and you have orgasm between slices of bread. you can also substitute smoked pepper turkey for the hard meats. MMMM so hungry now. |
My favourite is a paninni or a grilled sandwich...
Roast chicken slices of hard-boiled egg lettuce tomato dijon mayo salt pepper cheese - a little blue, a little bire Served warm and melty off the grill. |
Wheat bead, roast beef, smoked turky, colby jack, swiss, & mayo.
Cheese melted! |
Do burgers count? If so then I would have to say the new Flamethrower burger from DQ! :0__

Hail E_D! Thank you for mentioning the hamburger. I was beginning to despair. With each new uncaring post, my power was dwindling. I was starting to think that no one believed in hamburgers anymore. Once the children stop believing I can no longer exist. I am exactly like Tinkerbell but then you probably knew that. You have saved me, if but for a moment. -GH |
hoogie bun.. take one bannana.. cut lenthwise.. place in hoogie bun.. put peanut butter on other half then put together and eat with tall glass of milk

There's a place in town call The Works which makes the most unbelievable burgers. There are about 10 of them that could contend for the title of "My Favorite Sandwich"

I think my current favorite is the Gourmet Veggie sandwich from Jimmy John's. I normally prefer things that I make at home, but these things are incredible! Avacado spread, sprouts, tomato, lettuce, cheese, etc. on fresh wheat bread...they're huge!
|
Toasted whole wheat bread, peanut butter, 9 thick round discs of banana and grape jelly squished between the banana. Raspberry jam is good too, but those damn seeds always get stuck in my teeth.
Ok now I'm rollin a phatty and going to the kitchen. |
Smoked Turkey, Viginia Baked Ham, Bacon, Muenster Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, some thinly sliced Sweet Onion, small amount of Mayo, and S & Pon toasted Wheat Bread.... INCREDIBLE!
