Uber Geek Halloween costume - I need ideas!
I voluntered to dress up on Halloween for a costume contest at work. A group of us are going to enter a costume contest as geeks through the decades. The head of our department is going to dress up as a 50s/60s geek. Someone else is dressing up as an 80s geek. We even have one guy dressing up as the Blue Screen of Death. I, stupidly, volunteered to dress up as an Uber Geek. Two problems: First, I'm not sure what an Uber Geek is. Second, I need some ideas for a costume that will have others at the costume contest understand the point I am trying to get across. Our group will have a spokesperson who will explain what each of us are, but our group will be judged by a popular vote of those attending, so my costume must be basically understood.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Try to get as many technological items hanging off you as possible.
Calculators, watches, even just random wires plugged into other parts of the costume. Bonus points if you can fasten together a VR headset and a "wearable" laptop -- (Gargoyle, Snow Crash style). The basic premise that I'm imagining is overkill. Overkill to the point of humour. Oh, and by the way, you'll be a potted tree while in costume. Make sure you've gone to the bathroom recently before donning it, as with that much shit on, you won't be moving anywhere.

Let's see. Toilet paper stuck to your shoe, or coming out the back of your pant leg. Rainbow suspenders- which could be used to hold a laptop on. Shiny, shiny black shoes. Or, really ugly high top tennis shoes. Draw some zits on your face, and put a lot of vegetable oil in your hair so it looks greasy. Also, draw some dark circles under your eyes so that it looks like you were on the computer all night playing Everquest. And a name tag! I always associate nametags with geeks. Well, not always, but most of the time. And put an ink stain in your shirt pocket. For added effect, if you have any pens or pencils on your person, chew the ends of them like crazy- it's the little things that count. Then, you should make a patch that says something like "My other car is a Segway."

Lots and lots of gadgets. Pragma said it pretty well. Maybe a Linux t-shirt... Things like that. Go as overboard on the technical (and especially obscure) gadgets as you can.

A while back on one of IBM's "helping businesses do business" commercials they had a gadget called the universal business adapter which was essential a giant mass of different sockets and ports.
You can probably change the idea a bit and do something like: incorporate the thing into your hair and say that it lets you interface with any piece technology directly via your brain. Another possibility is carrying around a mouse in a holster and having a keyboard strapped to your back. Hope that helps. Hope that helps

Excellent suggestions. I have a decent goatee and wouldn't mind doing some trimming on it if it would add to the effect. Things are not looking quite as desperate. Thank you all for your help. I'll post a pic if there's a decent one available.

Find a slide rule, a big, shiny one with a holster, and attempt to convert everyone you meet into being a slide rule user. Only a Uber geek would be that retro.
