Male birth control pill...coming soon to a pharmacy near you.
So, I searched for this and didn't find it. Hopefully I'm not being repatitve.
There has been much success lately in the development of a male birth control pill. This is one of the articles about the success, and details about the timeframe. The question I pose to us men is this: When the option becomes abvailable, will you take a pill? Yes or no? No squirmy maybeys on this one boys. I'm voting a resounding yes. The treatments sound like they carry similar side effects and risks as the female pills, patches, etc. I feel it's time men to grab thier balls, and take some responsibility for thier semen. We've been able to blame her for forgetting her pill, or not "making" us wear a hat for too long. The girls have been putting up with the responsibility, and I say a real man would take this chance to own his own dick. How about you all?

Okay, so they have this pill that obviously will make their sperm count lower? (Not sure how else it would work).
BUT- is it going to have an effect on their sperm count even after they stop using it? Like when they decide they want to have children...is it going to be an issue for a while after? I think that would worry me, as a male. Last edited by Harmonia; 10-05-2003 at 05:22 PM.. |

Even though I'm a guy I picked "We'd both take the pill."
I don't see why that is a ladies only choice in your opinion. It's as much my responsibility as it is hers, there's no reason we both shouldn't do what we can to avoid acsidents. I just read a post on this, lol, so you were, sadly, repetative. |

I might trust a pill to stop one egg once a month, no way I'll trust one to stop hundreds of millions of sperm on a rolling basis.

I voted for "Yes, I'd take a male pill" but I'd also expect her to keep taking hers as well. 2 methods of protection is safer than 1, and it means unless both of us forget to take our pills, it doesn't matter so much if one of us forgets to take one.
As for the side effects... gaining weight? No problem with that, I'm such a scrawny bastard that it couldn't hurt to gain a bit, I'd just go to the gym anyway. Dunno what other side effects there are though, but there's nothing stopping me from stopping taking it if i don't like it.

I'd wait a couple years first. My mother is a physician and I inherited from her a strong distrust of new, non-urgent medicinal treatments. When it's been established that the pill doesn't fuck with you on a permanent basis and is reliable, I'll definitely say yeah - something like this has been a long time coming.

I think we'd both take it. Especially if it's a pill. If you're off by a few minutes then say hello to junior. I think having the we'd both take it options for ladies only was kind of silly.

Damn strait I would. Me and my girlfriend are both waiting for marrage and are both big V's but I am pretty sure we both would take em. One of our biggest fears on sex is a baby and in our heads it just isn't worth the risk right now. Anything that won't permenetly screw me up sure I'll take.

I don't trust these fantasy pills until they've been tested on real people for at least a decade or two. If by then there have been no reports of men losing their ability to procreate because of this pill, I may give it a shot. Other than that, I will not be a guineapig for the latest fad. It took decades to make the "Pill" what it is today.
While on the subject, would you as a woman really trust a man to take this pill? Women know how regularly they have to take their pills....to the hour, for best results. Considering that women are often the ones who end up carrying, delivering and raising the little bastard, they should just stick to the pill and not believe everything a horny man may say. I don't believe there is any contraceptive or method as efficient as abstinence. I accept the fact that I may become a father every time I shoot my load into her. These miracle pills I won't touch with a 10-foot pole.
