Got a 122. I am not at my best right now though. I could probably add 10 or so if I hadnt just stopped playing CS.

Just wondering, but why would you want to get into the Mensa society? Do they throw some wicked toga/LAN parties or something?

From the disappearance of my post would i be right in thinking that suggesting blacks have lower IQs than whites is a no go area?

wolfman- It's just the privelege of being able to say you're in Mensa. I wouldn't join any organization anal-retentive enough to have two pages of regulations on acceptable ways to display their logo, and violates those regulations on their website.

a very pointless bit of information though...

the only thing an IQ test measures is your ability to do IQ tests.
General IQ tests predict a ton of different things. There is a very large body of literature on the subject. The list of correlates is too long to even include. The online IQ test probably predicts nothing. What are the names of the IQ tests people are taking? (Many of these online IQ tests are neither valid nor reliable)p.

That being said, a general IQ test doesn't make much sense to me. As others have mentioned, there are likely different types of intelligence (verbal, spatial, mathematical, etc.). Also, the IQ test IS culturally biased. It predicts a many things in western cultures. It doesn't necessarily predict as much in a hunting and gathering society, etc.

apparently i have a 131 iq... i liked the test that gave me a 160-something iq better.

here's my problem. i'm very visually-minded. i work well with things i can think through in my head or even enact in front of me... i like being able to see things in order to make my decisions. that's why i'm terrible at math-type questions... crunching random meaningless numbers through endless confusion equations just gives me a big soft one. i know i'm smart, but not necessarily in the same way as others.

I score 130. I am the same way. I am a very visual and logic based person. I excel at some things and have more difficulties with others.

I'm the same way...I think also the time limit had something to do with it. I found myself looking at the timer quite a bit.

I recieved a 118. I had to hurry through the last 10 questions becuase I had a minute left, not that I am giving myself excuse for my score, becuase had I more time, it wouldn't have really mattered. 118 is alright I guess.

128. Now I have always been good at IQ tests, though I never thought I was very smart. Thing is this one started bugging out at the end, or maybe it was my internet connection, would not forward to the next question so I ended up having 15 or so left blank!

My normal range for IQ test is from 145-155 they are usually pretty close. I have not tried any internet tests because I do not think they are very valid.
ACT was 31 and ASVAB was 94 if that means anything.

150 for me, which is about the same as if I did the SAT conversion. Still, the test isn't really valid as a pure IQ test since some of the questions required outside knowledge, which really invalidates the whole thing.

IQ tests. The educated man's pissing contest.

Seriously. Being really smart does not automatically guarantee you a successful life, nor does it make your opinions more valid than someone else's. And being smart is not the same as being wise. Smart people still do stupid things.

I've taken tests and gotten between 132 and 234 - a fairly wide margin. I suspect that the best guage of intelect is how one does in life, not on a test. If one has an I.Q. over 150, but can't hold down a job, have good relationships with his or her friends and family, or be happy, what's it worth?

I took the real IQ test back in highschool for my AP psychology course. We were talking about different types of intelligence.

I scored a 187 on the IQ test, but then we played a memory game. Interestingly enough, it was an aboslutely perfect example.

Those that scored lower on the standard IQ test did exceptionally well in the memory game, I had the highest IQ - according to the test - in the class, and I did absolutely the worst. In fact, it was excactly the opposite - person by person. The person that scored 2nd in the IQ test was eliminated 2nd from the memory game, etc. I would attribute it possibly to the class inadvertantly swinging the results, but we didn't know the scores of the IQ test when we played the memory game....

I think the IQ test is good for measuring a specific type of intelligence, but so are other tests. I suppose it depends on what type of intelligence you are looking for...
