I guess my only problem with this is that it has a back of the bus kinda mentality. Separation just isn't a good thing in my book. |

I completely agree with Sixate on this... separation is not the right way to go...

If people would just accept it as being a part of someone ELSE's life and not somone else trying to make their lifestyle a part of my lifestyle then stuff like this won't happen. Let's allows gay, lesbian, and bisexuals to openly be what they are, regardless of age or where. It isn't going to MAKE us, our children, or our neighbors something they don't want to be. The worst thing that could happen is somone learns a little compassion.

They're going to need an all gay business trait/college to go into (anything from cirque de soleil, interior redecorator, host of "blues clues") or else the point of Highschool will be lost, you can't seperate yourself from everyone and expect to ready yourself for the real world kiddos.

Way to reinforce negative stereotypes! Maybe they can install cushioned glory holes in the restrooms too.

I was having a conversaion about this with a friend of mine the other day, she said that she used to know a friend of her family who didnt like gay people becuase of a gay friend that he knew who got aids and died, and becuase he thought the whole gay community there was bad. I think thats retarted, just becuase your gay doesnt mean that you run rampid and screw everyone, its a stupid sterotype. So i think that this school is stupid as well, why does there sexual preference mean they need a different school?

well its not likes its a forced seperation... and i assume gays will still be able to go to the regular public schools... i dont think its a good idea... seperating people by their differences only increases the misunderstandings associated with those differences...

This is the most idiotic thing that I have heard in a long time!
"What next? Maybe we should have schools for chubby kids who get picked on. Maybe all kids who wear glasses should have special schools. It's ridiculous," agreed!

from csfilms:
"What next? Maybe we should have schools for chubby kids who get picked on. Maybe all kids who wear glasses should have special schools. It's ridiculous," This is a terrible idea. I agree with csfilms' point above. Anytime you single out a specific group for what ever reason, its bound to backfire. Does anyone remember recently when a highschool had a prom for whites only? (I don't remember where it was.) Each group will start requesting special privilieges or they threaten to sue. I hope this doesn't go through. Imagine underage kids saying that its cool that they want to go here and in the future they regret that they did it. What happens then? Don't parents have a choice in the matter. The parents cannot do anything when their kids become of legal age (18). But before 18 they should and could. I would have thought that this would have happened in San Francisco before in New York. There's a high school in Dallas that's basically the same thing, I think it's actually been here longer than the NYC one. Surprised the hell out of me when I heard about it... gay high school in the South? Weirder stuff's happened, I guess.

Will the faculty be all-gay and lesbian too? Will an acceptable excuse to miss class be "I just COULDN'T find a thing to wear!"?
And as far as this being an attempt to shield gay students from harassment, now they're conveniently all in one place for those that would do them harm. And just how many transgendered high school students are there anyway? -Mikey |

Whatever the moral issues of separation, which I dont agree with, either, this is wrong because it is publicly funded in part. The government should never condone this. Private funding could fund a private school, but public is just wrong and unconstitutional.

this is great, because now i can demand to go to an all straight kids school, im sick of gay kids gaying up things (sarcasm). this is obviously a terrible idea, but what if i was really serious about my previous comment? what if someone really did request a school where only heterosexuals could attend. i mean, it would only be fair, seeing as how there exists a school that only homosexuals could attend. this is the definition of segregation, folks, and i cant believe some people view this as a good idea (not TF'ers, the people who established the school, and the biggest idiot in the world, Mike Bloomberg)

Well this is total BULLSHIT!!
Fight for years to get accepted and treated as an equal in society and then turn and give it the finger. Sue the Government,Military, places of employment, boyscouts, and the school systems then go out and open your little special school to SEPERATE yourself from society. The parents that send their kids to this school are in my opinion are DIPSHITS!! Personally I am a little tired of hearing about these special interest groups dictating the future of our society as a whole forcing their wants and causes down our throats while spending and wasting our tax dollars for bullshit like this school. I really don't think a kid in New York city that is gay is going to get harrassed in school, now if he was in Alabama that would be a different story. And who cares if he's harrased..........IT'S SCHOOL.............we all got harrassed at sometime or another in school no matter what color, religon, height, weight, looks, sexual preference, size of penis, hair, gender, clothes, financial situation, bus we rode on, and how smart we were..........IT'S FUCKING SCHOOL.....thats part of growing up and it either makes you stronger as a perosn before you go out in society or you turn into a major fucking whimp that stays living with mommy and daddy the rest of your life because you're to afraid and too stupid to deal with life on lifes terms. If I had a kid in New York city I would try to enroll my child in that school and if they refused because he was not gay.......I WOULD SUE THE SHIT OUT OF THEM for discrimination! Oh, I hope the city remembers to send a notice to the Firefighters and Police officers explaining where their pay raise went to.

didn't we end segregation in the 1960's? while there is nobody forcing the kids to go to the gay school, non-homosexual children aren't allowed. nevertheless, there are schools for all people across the U.S. Catholic schools, Jewish schools, black schools, Christian schools, and now gay schools! I just wonder what's next. Oh, btw, funny comment seretogis, cushioned glory holes, lol, that's grand.
