I've been smoking a pipe for about 8 months now. Never smoked anything else. I just have a modest little corncob pipe, got it for 4 bucks. This is the best thing about pipe smoking - it costs me about 2 dollars a week. I usually buy Captain Black royal, white or black. 6 dollars a pouch. Pouches usually last me between 3 and 5 weeks, depending on how much I smoke. Filters are 2 dollars for three boxes of 20, each filter lasting for about 5 smokes. Not only that, but specialty tobacco is incredibly cheap, too. 8 dollars a bag for Frog, Virginian Vine and Louisiana Bayoo tobaccos. Most I've seen it is at 15 dollars for a pouch, and even that's gads cheaper than cigarettes. Not to say cigs are bad, they're just not my thing, and pipes are just that much cheaper. I love smoking my pipe. I smoke it for the same reason I drink: it just tastes so damn good. I make it a point to not smoke when I'm stressed, and I don't know what a nicotine rush is. Don't care, either. I just sit on my porch for about half an hour each night and puff away. I love my pipe.

I was smoking Merit for years and years and then they switched to this kind of paper that will go out if you leave the sig just sitting there - supposedly to prevent fires, etc. They really sucked after they changed to this paper and I switched to Marby lights - but those aren't ver smooth. I heard that my state was going to requre these new papers on all smokes soon - they taste yucky

I smoke winston lights: cheap and they do the trick.
I'm glad I live in a country where people don't care if you smoke or not. There are cigarette vendors on every corner, and you can buy BY THE STICK! It's not unusual to see every single attendant at local gigs light up.

I've been smoking cigars for about a year now. Granted, I've only been over 18 for a little more than a year. I hate the smell of cigarette smoke and don't particularly enjoy smoking them, but I love my occasional cigars. I typically smoke Arturo Fuente Curly Head Deluxe cigars, a really good smoke for about $3 each. My lighter:
I have the red one. It's a good, reliable, fairly inexpensive ($30) Colibri jet lighter. Granted, there's no punch cutter on it, but I prefer cutting it with a guillotine cutter anyway. Punch cutters always seem to crush the end in when I use them, but maybe I'm just no good at it.

I usually smoke red North State. Marlboro can go, if there's no other choice. I used to smoke a little pibe once, but back then I often had a little of the magic tobacco in it.. :/ I'm off that hook now, though. At special occasions I tend to buy myself a good cigar. It stinks but tastes good... especially with a good whiskey.

(out of a pipe) Load up a good bowl, light the lighter, put it upside down, light the weed/bowl and suck in.. as soon as you start tasting that nasty lighter fluid gas taste pull the lighter away, that stuff is nasty. Get your mouth 3/4 of the way full of smoke then just breathe in as much air as you possibly can and hold it there for 4 or 5 seconds. If you have some really high grade shit 4 or so really good hits will give you a nice little high. I found once your really pretty high, just smoking more doesnt have much effect, you waste your weed in a sense, no need to just keep wasting more. But I was just like you the first few times I smoked.. I bearly got high.. i could feel it but bearly. One day I just decided to suck that shit all the way down and man what a great feeling it was. Have a good time smoking and be safe.. don't go out driving.. just chill at home with some soda/snacks w/ some friends and you'll be cool. |

Fire-I tried one of the Drew estates cigars, one of the "naturals" types, about coffe break size...was one of the worst I've ever had! Guess I'll have to go back and try another type...my local tobacconist keeps pushing them as the best for the buck...
For all the roll-your-own, pipe and cigar smokers, check out this site- www.gatlinburlier.com I visited this place while on vacation and left a pipe smoker (with two A. Fuente opus X! also...what a great smoke). Anyway click on there link about the great tobacco coverup...some interesting data from the surgeon general that is not widely publicized ( and is positive news to certain types of smokers) Their tobacco (pipe and chew) selection is wonderful, my mission for the last few months has been to try everything they have. On the pipe smoking technique....I find that a few tamps with a tool (or a spent 44 mag case) while smoking keeps her nice and even...rarely have to relight. If you're still having trouble try smoking some half bowls...I found that this helped at first. For more info...visit pipes.org Smoke On!

Hmm, my smoking has increased quite a bit since I first posted here. I'm up to at least a pack a day, usually Camel Lights, Wides or Reds (in that order) although right now I have a pack of Dunhill International Lights and some kinda Nat Shermans. My cigar smoking has gone up too!
But strangely, I can't say that I mind!

I smoke Marlboro Reds, about half a pack a day. I also enjoy a Black & Mild while talking to the hot girl up the road, who is also a Marlboro Reds smoker.
I smoked for a year in high school then I quit. But after a few years without smoking, I started again. I enjoy it, and I know it's gonna kill me. |

I smoked Marlboro lights for a good 5 years (from age 17-22) but "quit" a few months ago.....I put that in quotes because I still occasionally smoke. By occasionally, I mean maybe 1-3 a week if I had a long day at work or school and just feel like a smoke at the end of the day. When I was a smoker, I didn't smoke much either, maybe a pack every 2 days, a pack a day on the weekend........I do miss it sometimes, actually, I would like to have one right now, but unfortunately I can not.

I've been smoking for about 40 years now. Started out with Pall Mall and Lucky Strikes and Camel non filter because those were the cool ones back then. Ended up with Kools because I could filch them from my father and got used to the menthol.
I remember when I was first dating my wife and we hugged for the first time. She said" mmmm, I love a man who smells of tobacco", gotta love her. I think they used to even sell an aftershave back then that smelled like tobacco. I think there are people out there that have sensitive immune systems or whatever and smoke really bothers them both socially and medically so us smokers should be sensitive to them. All the men in my family were big drinkers and smokers and seemed to live forever, LOL. |

I had my first smoke @ 12, and now I'm 22. I smoked quite regularly from 16 till about 4 months ago, when I started weening myself from the nasty things. Now I'm only a drunken smoker, which still has its disadvantages.
Hopefully I'll stop smoking the Camel Lights sometime soon (maybe when my money runs out). |

Okay, may I say something? I would like to beg smokers who throw out their cigarette butts on the ground, whether you're smoking while you're outside or smoking while in the car to PLEASE, instead, dispose of your cigarette butts appropriately. Why not throw them out in the ashtray in your car or put them out and then put them into a trash can? It is so disconcerting to see them everywhere--on the street at stop lights, on the ground outside of the building I work in, on the ground outside of the subway stations (because smoking is not allowed in the subway stations), etc.
Thank you. |
