Welcome to The Smokers Den

Welcome to the Smokers Den

This is a thread for Smokers. about Smokers, by Smokers.

topics include anything having to do with tobacco related products.

This is not a thread for someone to unleash their "Why I Hate Smoking" diatribe. There are plenty of other threads for this.

So Please limit posts to topics like-
What brand I smoke
when I first started
Why...

Laments to the high cost of tobacco and "The Smoker As A Modern Day Pariah"

My only rule (if I may be so bold) is that I ask you, gentle poster, to keep in mind that this thread is Pro- Smoking.

We all know that we should quit.
and we all know that it aint good for us to be inhaling a known
carcinogen. OK?

OK.

NOW
Smoke 'em if you got 'em

Well, a friend of mine recently got me smoking. We smoke Marlboro Lights, but I've just quit because of a exercise program I've started, and smoking makes all that running so much harder.

But I'll probably end up starting back, everyone in my whole fam damily smokes.

Anybody smoke a pipe?

I do occasionally and it's always interesting figuring the best way to pack the damn thing. I use erinmore flake tobacco.

Doesn't go right deep down into the lungs like a cigarette.

Don't often smoke cigarettes; aside from the Cuban Cohiba cigarettes I picked up for US $1.25 a pack at Hong Kong airport. Nice.

MacGnG, drunk smoker eh? I can relate.

I'm a cigar smoker. Boy, if you think it's tough to find a place to smoke a cigarette try a cigar. I smoke in the house in the very late evening after everyone has gone to bed. Also on road trips of an hour or more. I only smoke premium cigars because otherwise, why bother? My favorite for a long time has been Partagas. Lately I've discovered JR Ultimate Cabinet cigars. JR cigars is one of the largest cigar dealers in the States and they have these custom made.

I've been a smoker since I was 11... 11 years later and I still enjoy it. I started smoking Camel Lights moved to Camel Reds then to Lucky Strike non-filtered, now I go back and forth from Camel filters to Lucky filters to Pall Mall filters.

I won't ever quit. Maybe one day if I get sick but I would rather smoke till the day I die

I smoked cigarettes for about 12 years mostly Marlboro Reds,
but I always liked anything Camel as a treat.
I quit 3 years ago, too much money...didn't enjoy it any more.
I discovered I still enjoy smokeing, just not cigarettes.
Swisher Sweet cigarellos among others, I stick to the smaller cigars (10 to 15 minute smokes)

I think I'll have one right now!

Plain old Marlboro Lights.

I used to smoke reds, but I find lights is a little easier on the body. Smoked for nine years.

I got a promise to the girlfriend I will quit when she gets pregnant. Which, convieniently for me, is still down the road.

I smoked exactly 10 years, and quit around Christmas last year. When I did smoke, I loved Parliaments, but would smoke anything Light. I wasn't very brand loyal when it came to cigarettes, in fact I'd usually ask for "cheap lights" when buying smokes. So that meant lots of Basics and GPC's (Georgia Prison Cigarettes, Generic Putrid Cigarettes, Generally Pretty Crappy, etc.) for me.

Smoked em since I was 12.
Have smoked for 23 years, except for a 2 month period in 96 when I was in the hospital.
I smoke because I'm dumb. No other reason for it. They cost to much, are ruining my health and have turned my computer room an ugly shade of yellow.
Can you tell I want to quit?

mmmm i love my stogies. Ive been smoking them for like 10 years. I think i got my first one right after i turned 18. The best part is im still not addicted. If i dont have the extra cash for a few months then i dont smoke and I dont feel myself needing one either. I also smoke a pipe once in a while cause i can get away with smoking that in the house and its too damn hot go go outside for an hour or so for a cigar.

I usually smoke various Dominican brands. Mostly overproduction or a couple inexpensive brands that are good quality. Ive managed to find some in the $30 - $50 a 25 pack range that i actually like better than some of the expensive brands i used to smoke before the damn celebrities made it "cool" and the prices exploded. Although every once in a while ill treat myself to something top shelf. Maybe a cohiba or one of those arturo fuente opus x

In my pipe i usually smoke a custom blend they do at the tobacco shop down the road from me.

smoking since 14, although not alot. Right now I smoke about 3 maybe 4 cigarettes a day, though that can go up during weekends.

L&M is the brand that's stood by me since day one
Tried a bit of Lucky Strike too, but returned rather quickly.

*insert complimentary whine about government here*

What's with abolishing tobacco ads during races like nascar etc. Do they honestly think that those billboards will be pushing kids to smoke? Or could it possibly be the people AT the races that ARE smoking that those kids see? Makes no sense to me. And costs the races alot of money

i would think it better to quit when she decides to try to get pregnant, not once she is.

that way, your sperm would be healthier.

i dunno, have no scientific proof at hand, but it makes logical sense to me.

btw, i smoke (brand - Gauloises Blondes. yea i'm in Europe, so they're not 6$ a pack like they are in the shops in the US...here a 25 cig pack is 4 euro)

and i've always known that i will quit definitely when i decide to try become pregnant...if not before.

I really enjoy a good cigar. My favorites are Arturo Fuente, Partagas, Punch, and Padron.

I also smoke a pipe every now and then. I actual have a collection of about 30 or so fine pipes. Nothing like sitting back in a big leather chair in my library smoking a good English flake.

My friend just brought me back some ciggys from Costa Rica called REX, these damn smokes are actually pretty good. I guess that don't have all the shit that our smokes do in the US.

I've smoked for many moons, and I keep trying to quit, but it likes me too much. Even when I get too broke to buy a pack, I will dig through the ashtray for a shameful morsel of a butt to ease the nagging beast!

I thought that was bad until I met my cousins friend at a university, who was notoriously desperate enough to snach and suck on a piss saturated butt out of the urinal!

Hmmm? Time to quit buddy!

smoked for 15 years, and don't particularly enjoy it. i enjoy 'em occasionally - after a meal, while driving, after i get high...

change brands every time i try to quit. smoked reds, camel lights, basic lights, merits, buglers when i was broke, camel filters, pall malls, american spirits. currently smoke winston lights.

i've torn up butts and rolled the black-ass result when desperate. yet to try a piss-soaked urinal find.

Been a smoker for 16 years now, I hate it. I have tried to quit numerous times, but I guess im just lacking in the willpower department. As for what I smoke, hell whatever is cheapest. Being on a budget sucks.. if I had my druthers, it would be marlboro lights, but for now its Kentucky's Best Lights.

Here is a thought for you... Why do people buy kings... I mean the price difference between kings and 100's is nil, the same brand smokes are the same price, so why get less for your money.. if you cant smoke the whole thing, who cares, it didnt cost you any more.... just something I have always wondered

Just cigars, here. Mostly VSG, Hoyo de Monterrey, Fuente or a good Cuban when the guy who runs the shop in Santa Monica gets some good stuff in the double-secret drawer. For a good, inexpensive smoke, check out La Unica - decent stuff. The guy who runs the Grand Havana Room on the West Side just startied his own line and they're pretty good - I'll be picking up a box or two soon.

I'm with the previous poster re: frequency - sometimes it's 3 or 4 in a week, sometimes I go a month or two w/o and don't think about it. Depends on 1) how much I'm golfing and 2) how often "the guys" are getting together.

good times...

I smoke Kools. I smoke about 2-3 cigarettes a day. Originally I started with Marlboro reds, but they made my mouth tasting yucky and throat feeling hot and scratchy. Mentholated cigarettes made the back of my throat feel cool when I inhaled, but lately I have been noticing that it no longer feels as cool or tastes as good.

I also don't catch as much of a buzz anymore, so now I cut the filters off my cigs (I noticed changes in taste and feeling before I cut the filters off). Smoking light cigs like Marlboro 100s just gives me a headache, yucky tasting mouth, and maybe some nausea; no buzz at all. I used to love the anxiolytic feelings cigarettes gave me.

I tried some less popular brand of menthol cigs of my cousins and it tasted and felt GREAT! Maybe my Kools were never like that. Is the change in taste related to my smoking, you think?

I've been wanting to try some of the pipe stuff. Any opinions on that? Does the pipe stuff taste any different than popular brand cig tobacco? I heard Camels were good tasting, what do you think?

BTW, this thread rules.

I smoke a pack of marlboro reds a day. I guess you could say I smoke out of habit. It gives me something to do when I'm bored. I started at the age of 15, because all the cool people were doing it.

I think for me, the whole addiction thing is mostly a state of mind. To my own amazement, I can go five hours without smoking a cigarette when i have lots of them around, but when I'm out of cigs, it only takes me 5 minutes to start running around the house, looking for that one discarded cigarette that might be lying on the floor somewhere. Also, whenever I see somebody smoking, or even so much as read about somebody smoking in a book, I reach for my lighter.

I often consider quitting, but then I tend to run into a stressfull situation, such as being stuck in a hot car for four hours, and when I get to relax by smoking a cigarette afterwards, me and the nicotine rekindle our friendship and promise never to part ways.

i've never actually compared but i think the filters on 100's is longer as well, making up for much of the size difference. i just hate 100s because i have some kind of bullshit james dean complex that makes me feel like a chick holding a 100. old guys and chicks smoke them.

I'm kinda different. All through Junior High and through High School, I was very anti smoking. Then I graduated and got a job. Now I'm a pack a day smoker.

du Maurier Light King

And think about this. Right now in Winnipeg, a pack of smokes costs anywhere between $10.25 - $10.75.

I'm either stupid, or crazy.

Probably both.

My brand is Regal Filter. Smaller than your average smokes (71mm including filter) and only seem to to be available in my native North East England. Everyone I know who has tried them has switched and never looked back.

Least favourites are Marlboros. I just can't get no satisfaction from them.

I've been smoking cigars for around 2 years now (started at 18). Favorite is a Padron 1964 Anniversary, but I end up smoking a lot of Cusano's (the price is quite good). Also a big fan of the Cuban Montecristo #2, finally tried one in the Bahamas... WOW.

I also smoke a pipe. Butz Choquin, beautiful pipe. I prefer Dunhill Nightcap and 965. They've got a good balance, and are some of the few pipe tobaccos strong enough for a cigar smoker.

Occasionally I really enjoy a cigarette. I prefer Dunhills and unfiltered Lucky Strikes, but usually go for Marlboros.

I actually smoked pot for about a year before I tried my first cigarette. My friends from high school came to visit me at school in Madison and I was out of weed and they were smoking Newports. For the first couple of weeks I'd only smoke two cigarettes a day for the buzz. Then I started smoking more often, switched to Newport lights, then Camel filters, then Camel lights. Lately I've been getting Camel Turkish Gold and Turkish Royals cuz they're buy-one-get-one-free (comes out to $2/pack instead of $3.28/pack)

Edit: I just noticed this is my 1000th post. BFD.

smoke anything i can afford..

drawback.. i play alot of real time games.. 1st person shooters mostly.. i tend to forget i got a smoke between my fingers until it burns down.. ouch.. lost my 85% kill ratio on delta force cuz of it..

i do that cuz if i leave them in my lips when i do manage to take it out.. half my lip goes with it..

what i tell all the anti smokers..
