Generally for me it helps let me cut loose a bit. I'm a fairly outgoing person any way but typically around the Ladies I'm very silent and have nothing to say. When drunk I'm able to treat all people equal in a social environment. I don't mean that I'm stumbling over women trying to get them to go home with me. But it lets me talk with them as if I wouldn't give a shit.

It's also a good bonding thing with people my age and younger then me since I tend to be a shade older then my of my peers here. Plus I find that part of being Canadian male seems to revolve around beer a fair amount... beer and Tim Hortons.

Different liquors have different effects only because you think they do.

It's self-fulfilling. The moment you decide that they're all alike and that alcohol is alcohol is alcohol, you'll find that the effects are all the same.

My early experiences of being drunk was the spinning room. That should've been an indication for me to put down that bottle of Jack, but being the foolhardy young person I was, I ignored such warnings. The spinning overrode everything. It was there with eyes open, it was there with eyes shut, it was there when I hung my head out of the car window like a golden retriever trying to get fresh air and hurl at the same time. It was there when I prayed to the porcelain gods. It was everywhere.

As I got older, I entered a second stage of drunk. Some call it tolerance, I call it feeling good. That's when Dennis Leary is funny again, when the music sounds just as good now as it did when I first heard it years ago, when ideas start flowing like Niagra Falls, when even the most sensible thing can be heard in a person's senseless babble.

I usually tell people that alcohol is the real truth serum. It brings out the real you. For me, I transform from a hard-working cog of the economic machine to a complete lush, completely content just sitting there (wherever there is) and feeling good.

This really makes me want to crack open a bottle of Bacardi.

I tend to remain fairly coherent, and able to express myself. The problem is I've got a shit memory to begin with and when I'm drinking it tends to get worse. I end up repeating myself often.

My biggest problem comes when I'm drinking beer in pitchers with friends. Pints, or bottles I can keep track of, but with pitchers I'll get topped up and lose track of just how much I've been drinking.

Really though my biggest problem when I'm drunk is that I end up repeating myself often.

It's not nice feeling when you wake up in the mornig and you don't remember anything what happened last party... It's strange but sometimes it's better not to know what did you do on its

Yeah, the last time I was drunk (the 11th of this month) I totally didn't intend to be.

Hard liquor is supposed to be slow in its effect, but sudden in its onset. I had never experienced that, but then I bought a JD's special edition ($42.00 for a small bottle). I took about a dozen shots, and suddenly I was telling one roomate where I kept a hidden revolver (which I was not supposed to have), another roomate that I was going to hang myself outside in the backyard, hugging a girl I had a crush on (which I would NEVER do), and vomitting in the bathbub. Oh, then I told one of my friends that he would be seeing ghosts for the rest of his life...

As shy as I am, I've noticed that when you get drunk and the alcohol pushes you to new limits of behavior, you remember defying your developed-over-years inhibitions, and you start to do that even while sober!

The reason I say this is because I went out and bought a $3000 diamond ring the next day for a girl I hardly know. That was kind of a wreckless idea.

Dude. A *dozen* shots?? I've never just sat down and 'done shots' of hard liquor, but I can't imagine doing a dozen shots of anything. Usually I'm pretty close to drunk after 5 or 6 drinks in a short time.

What did you do with the ring?

Well, here's the whole story...

...but if you don't want to read the whole story, I'll just say that I haven't presented it to her yet. She found out about me having it beforehand, and it has been a little awkward. I haven't seen her for two weeks, but I still plan on telling her about it later. I know she'll reject it, but you gotta make a statement, right?
