I wont be going, but just to put it out there... if lots of folks are staying at luxor (a bit expensive) another option for the people with a tight budget is the excalibur, conected by bridge to the luxor. its one of the cheapest places to stay on the strip and is still a nice place. great for location!

Time to get serious and make commitments... *smile* I say we all pick a place and all stay there... in deference to budgets... lets pick something reasonable... (relatively speaking... ) I didn't see a Motel 6...
once we all agree on a place... then we can talk about a 'comp' room and pass around the plate to pick up expense for party stuff... ya know? |
I think a costume party should be on the 'agenda'... say Saturday night? ... barbeque and bball on Saturday afternoon? I know there's a couple of locals... one of you want to 'carry the ball' on that one? I'm sure that we'll all want to have some alone or small group activities... like elevator tag... *grin* or playing the quarter slots while you get smashed on free drinks...
I think spring and I will fly in Friday and out late Sunday... I'll provide contact info to those that are serious about going and "PM" me.... |
Hey all! I don't know many of you very well.....hell, I don't know any of you at all, but I ya'll seem cool and I am leaning towards the Vegas trip. I live in Cali and would be interested in finding out if other people are driving from the Bay Area. If so, a road trip might be in order!!! Also, are there any single travellers willing to share the cost of the rooms? I know, I am a cheap bastard, but a fun one to party with!!! Lastly, what are the solid details we have thus far?
|

I will PM You to try and figure out details... Thanks again.!!! |
I am gonna be in Reno the week before... Darn... I just can't hang around to make it
|
i can try andf definately think of stuff to do, and will provide info here about how to get around etc..
but the park/ bbq thing would be a nice hassle to plan. Depending on where you stay.. you're looking at a 0 buck cab ride to the nearest park.. i'll scout locations, and start checking out places to see if we can book a table for a party of 15 or more.. 20 would proally be a safe bet just in case we get and last minute folks comming. more details to come in a few hours.. |

|
Okay, Jin and I are tentatively back in since floonie is going. Gonna see if I can convince Jin to take the Friday off so we can just get the Hell outta town Thursday or something.
So, prepare to meet your maker! Uh, Thraeryn! Meet your Thraeryn. |

I love the idea of a costume party...hmmmmm I think I'd better pack one before I leave....where did I put that French Maid's outfit anyways? The idea of a bbq/baseball game is great. I don't think anybody will mind if it's a little cooler time of year.....what matters is that we get together, have fun and enjoy ourselves! |
I might be on the bus with Thraeryn, Jinya, and floonine. Depends on cashflow.

 :hmm: ;) ;) :D |
Any suggestion for hotels?
BTW, my friends are also coming up from San Diego, they are bringing me to the KISS/Aerosmith concert, so I won't be available for one night. But you will probably get to meet them, I posted pics of her in ver. 3.0, just don't let her play with your head, she likes teasing.:) |
Well As i understand it Halx and crew are staying at the luxor, but im not sure for everyone else.
We need to start getting shit set before ocotober.. so here is an idea i was thinking.. im wondering if Everyone who is planning on attending can shoot me a PM of where they will be Real names & staying (if you know) just to get an official headcount It's comming up in a month and 2 weeks you know :) Here is some tentative plan i've whipped up.. Friday: since people are comming in at all times of the day, pretty much on your own doing the casino thing, possibly a dinner at Batista's hole in the wall http://www.megorama.com/images/fulls..._985301199.jpg which is a block away from the Barbary Coast on the strip. The place is known for it's old vegas feel, and outstanding value. Endless bottles of wine served with the entrees, Appetizer, Entree w/pasta and cappicunino generally range in price from $18-$26 a plate. After that, it's up to people if they want to do the tourist/ casino thing or just stay out all night in casino clubs. If so.. there are lots of great clubs such as "rain" and "ghostbar" in the Palms, or the Pink Taco in the Hardrock, or Ra in the Luxor (which phred loves) Saturday: For those who like to get up early.. There is always the great buffets of vegas for breakfast. I feel the best breakfast (good food, not too upscale, and cheap) is served at the Gold Coast. Their Port O' Call buffet is 4.99 for breakfast and has over a hundred items for consumption. Ranging from wafflehouse fare, to custom omlets, mongolian anbd chinese food, carving stations, and a variety of authentic mexican breafast dishes such as Choirizo, Machaca and migas. If you are up then, might as well go sightseeing right? Buy yourself a bus pass for 5 dollars and hop on the 401 or 302 (strip and strip express) and ride up to the stratosphere and walk oyour way down. A lot of people dont think the strip is very long, but you really cant walk it in a day. It's a bit over 15 miles long i believe. If like taking pictures of stuff, this is the best time to do it. Saturday afternoon is the best time to walkaround being a tourist.. you're pretty safe in the sketchy part of the strip, and there are plenty of people bustling around doing the same thing.. great fun. Around lunchtime possibly try to get some lunch at this great place on the strip with a fireplace (the name excapes me right now, but Spleen knows what im talking about) or do your own thing until the evening. Then those interested in such an activity could take the strip bus up to the OG and partake in some of our breathtaking Las Vegas Strippers :) Sunday: If anyone is interested this day could be spent rounding up tourist stuff, sighteseeing and possibly a barb-que at a local park. Getting to the park may prove to be a bitch, but using your shiny 24hour bus bass it IS possible. If for some reason that doesnt go down, at least we could meet somewhere and take a big group picture before people start heading home. Like i said.. this is just a suggestion.. but i think it's not too farfetched.. right? Suggestions are welcome. |
Sounds like fun. Can I come?
|
Ganguro... sounds like a plan! Luxor it is! Don't forget to fit in the Costume Party! We can do it in a room or just play 'Casino Tag' in our Costumes... *wide grin* like the lady (Minx) said... Let's have FUN!
|
OK I booked last night at the Luxor :)
|
*heavy sigh*
Minx may not be able to come. :( It all boils down to the cash factor, or lack thereof. And I've been so very much looking forward to this. |
okay... i'm dead set on going to this, even if i have little cash to go. now, i have a four door, five-seater (if everyone squeezes) car that i'm more than willing to pack with tfp'ers for transportation, so i'll see what i can do about getting that friday off work so i can get there early and maybe play airport ferry for a few people. everything else looks good, ganguro... and i suppose since you're our lovely tour coordinator, it'd be good for a monkey with wheels to be close by. warm up the couch! :D
(quick edit: by warm up the couch, i <b>don't</b> mean eat bean sprouts and cabbage for three days prior to my arrival then watch lots of tv) |

Minx... i understand... we are doing everything short of selling off our first born to make it there for the weekend...
can't miss it now though... we're booked... Vegas is simpy one of those places you can't say no to! *lil grin* really hope you can make it... :) |
Hmmmm selling off the firstborn.....never thought of that! I think I'd get more for the younger one on the black market!
:D Will try to see what I can do here kids.....it's the damn exchange rate....and the plane fare - yikes! If only my car hadn't just cost me a grand to fix I would so be there! Nothing keeping me from going other than that. |
*wry grin* Way to go gang! Gang up on her! Whoo Hoo! We'll be looking for you Minx.... *tossing in some thumb screws*
|
Quote:
But with the exchange rate, I might profit from an exchange with Minx! |
*psst*...
Willow's going to be turning the big 50 on Oct 23rd... *grin* lookout Vegas... |
Due to financial difficulties, it looks like I might not be able to make it after-all. I am still tryin, but I can't promise any more.
|
it is with great dissapointment that i pull me and bluebongo out of the group of people who are gonna be going. at this point, the little money we can save needs to be put toward moving in january, we're looking at needing at least 1500 for fuel and housing costs, along with incedentals. i'm not sure how we're gonna put all that together, but i know that a trip to vegas would put a serious dent in what little we could be saving. my apoligies to all of those who were looking foward to our attendance, especially ganguro... sometimes timing just isn't condusive to what one wants.
sorry guys. |
holy shit people...
argh! Well, Litespeed and I will be there, along with my sisters, so we'll all have fun WITHOUT YOU!!!! |
i'll be here :)
|
Ok.. Litespeed wont be there.. but it's all good
|
I'll be there
I've also got some friends meeting me there, so I'm commited. I'll be at the Excaliber, seeing KISS/aerosmith at the MGM. Don't feel so bad Phred Me, Peetster & Troit will be here in VA to meet you with bells on.:) |
