Air Soft BB Guns????
I got this catalog in the mail from "CHEAPER THAN DIRT"
(Fort Worth,Texas) and it is full of Sporting Goods and it has a few pages devoted to "AIR SOFT BB GUNS" inside. These are 20 ,40 and 70 dollar plastic? BB guns that fire 12 gram, 6mm plastic beads and operate with 4-AA size batteries. Does anyone have one of these toys and are they any good for target practice in your back yard? |

Yep, i used to really be in to airsoft. I'm not sure if i wrote something on this forum or another, but it's really fun.
The ones you're refering to are what we call 'springers,' you have to cock it once, and then shoot it. It will shoot the bb about 30-60 feet accurately. They're really fun for plinking, and if you want to you can look in to Automatic Electric Guns (AEGs) that people do milsim with |

Airsoft is a blast, whether you want just a cheap diversion to plink around in the backyard with, or if you are heavy into MILSIM stuff, you can find groups that play simulations with hundred dollar fully automatic guns. The real draw for me has been the realism, they look and operate like real weapons. If you are interested in buying cheaper spring guns I highly recommend www.shortyusa.com They are one of the best online retailers of spring powered guns. Also, if you are interested in getting a particular gun to see if you like them or not I also heavily suggest the HFC Heavy 99 Pistol. Its a great replica of the P-99, probably the best for the price. As a general rule of thumb UHC and HFC makes good springers. Another good website dealing with airsoft is www.airsoftohio.com (that's the first site I really go into and learned about the sport). Hope that helps, I found airsoft completely by accident and have since really started to enjoy it. Its a fun alternative to paintball if you want to play, and if you want to collect without the hassle of dealing with real steel (or like me don't have the cash) its a neat hobby.

Lost of paintball fields have airsoft days too btw. It can be fun- but somewhat like paintball- economics rule.
What I mean is the guy with the 400 doller AEG with upgraded parts ( AEG = full auto - and Hi capacity clips) can just spray your ass- while you sit there with a shitty springer that you have to cock to fire. That said Ive always enjoyed sniping Really depends on your group though like everyone said- if you are buddies are just foolin around then just get cheapo pistols- if your serious get a AEG or a sniper rifle on ebay maybe |

Just in general I would stay away from buying airsoft guns on ebay. I've had some bad experiences with it, and if you're buying a used gun you don't know how well its been taken care of, or if it works at all. And as said above, if you are going to go with a higher end AEG, Tokyo Marui is the way to go. Great quality, and if you buy it unmodified less likely to have problems with it that require more experience to deal with.
