Fal style guns
I need a semi-auto Hi accuracy .308 riffle and so far the only one that looks like it would be something to invest in would be a DSA stg-58 Fal... has anybody ever fired one of these or had any experience with them ... I currently own a Bushmaster Xm-15 e2s so I'm not completely ignorant just unsure i guess...

American Rifleman reviewed a DSA about a year ago. Their quality is good but FN sights in general are pretty crappy. If you do want accuracy, expect to put a scope on it, and even then, FNs are not the best platform. But, they are relatively inexpensive and metric magazines are still very plentiful.
M1As have better iron sights and can be accurized by a good gunsmith. A good scope mount and scope and they're even better. But they're expensive. Expect $1000+ for just the rifle. AR10s are another option but expensive and magazines are very expensive (at least possibly for another few months) because most are M14 magazines that have been converted to AR10 use. But, AR10s, like AR15s, are easier to accurize and there are plenty of options regarding uppers. Also expensive. |

I was looking at the Springfield m-21 i think it is , the tactical version of the m1a but was told that the internals are cheap construction. The AR-10 are a lot easer to come buy , ware i can go to my local dealer and pick one up , there just really expensive once u get all the whistles and bells

Bushmaster now has a .308 rifle similar to the AR-10. I haven't read any reviews on it but it might be worth a look.
You can get it from aimsurplus.com (shipped to your FFL) http://www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/B...er_Rifles.html |

I own an STG58 by DSA, and can't say enough good things about it. I much prefer it to the M1al; the ergonomics are better, and it has a much lighter recoil, although it is slightly heavier.
The M1a's big perks are superior sights and easier scope-mounting. FAL sights are pretty crappy, but the rifle itself is capable of being much more accurate than the M1a, with proper sights and tuning. My own weapon will do 1-1/2 to 1-1/4 MOA over open sights all day long. I'd suggest buying the STG58, getting a trigger-job, and some of the Israeli target-type sights that DSA sells. Such a platform is more than equal to the M1a in the hands of a good rifleman, and will save lots of $$ on magazines and parts. With one of DSA's six-screw scope mounts and a low-power scope, and FAL is about as perfect a battle rifle as anyone ever came up with. You'll also want a set of synthetic fore-gaurds, as the aluminum ones that come on the STG58 heat up quickly.
